yeah I agree with you . Its a shame he was just a few pounds away from winning that fight easily .

I felt bad for him as well, that's honesty on my part. I did not feel bad for him because I thought he lost though. I felt for him because he was distraught and I really do like him.
I still think Peter won
I'd love to hear which 7 rounds you think Peter won. Because on a sane person's scorecard he didn't win more than 5, six if you are a rabid Toney hater.
With the point deduction I guess he needed to win 8 rounds!!!
Fucking bullshit, crappy decision.
Toney put on a great performance and got robbed, simple as.
Re: James Toney was freakin' robbed. Absolutely ridiculous.
2 fights in a row Toneys failed to win against a fat opponent . He should have been the saviour of the division but it doesnt look like its guna happen for him now
I havent seen the fight but from what ive read it seems every time Peter landed Toney was hurt and I dont know where he goes from here . Perhaps hanging em up isnt an option but on that form youd fancy Klitscko to stop him

You need to watch the fight before you assume anything. Toney was hurt once, Peter looked fucked from about round 4 onwards, panting for hair, his little eyes squinting in his bloodied battered face.
Toney didn't have a mark on him. I would have given it to Toney by about 8 rounds.
I'm completely staggered that he lost. Worst decision of the year. Peter never caught Toney flush, Toney pounded away at Peter and caught him with sharp, accurate right hand counters all night long.
It was a good hard competative fight but it was a UD for Toney. If Peter won this then in my opinion Emmitt Linton should have got the nod over Allan Green

I was shocked too. I was shocked as soon as they announced it was a split decision (as well as being shocked every time they showed the press row scoring which I also thought was seriously off (in favor of Peter--especially the first press guy)).
I have a hard time judging whether this was worse than the Quartey-Forrest decision though. Both were really awful.

The show time announcers were sucking off Toney through out the whole fight, the same way HBO was sucking off Quartey the whole fight. SO if you were paying attention the story the commentators were painting you should be upset with the decision.

Agreed. An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry LU, wacko can't repeat a karma action without waiting 24 hours.
Re: James Toney was freakin' robbed. Absolutely ridiculous.
I didnt think it was a robbery, but, I did feel that it was a very close fight...
One thing was verified for me in this fight though, PETER IS CLUELESS ON HOW TO FINISH SOMEONE!!!!
this guy DOES NOT need to be up for a title shot.....He needs a new trainer to teach him how to finish off a fighter for one, stop going for that big knock out and last but not least, stop that damn hitting behind the head....
Peter throws the worst looping right I have ever seen, I mean, he doesnt control it when he throws it...I dont say its not dangerous, he has landed it solid on fighters. But he throws it with such carelessness...
I wonder what Russian they going to feed him to??? I hope he tries for Valuev, but I know he wants to get his ass beat by Klitschko again....Liakovich would be the smarter fight(He is who I think is the true rising star of the russians, he will be someone to deal with for a while....), then move on to Maskaev(A true test of power and endurance here, I think Peter would get tested on stamina and be in the ring with someone who can hit just as hard as he does) Wlad and Valuev are way out of Peter's league, they will end Peter's carreer if he goes after them......
What I seen from Toney in the fight, Well, nothing new, the same bullshit from the same asshole of a fighter...
He isnt that slick, he did get hurt a few times, he did work Peter's ass over at times but, in the end, made the foolish mistake of leaving a close fight to the judges.....If you are a pro fighter or an amateur fighter, learn the one most important thing in Boxing...IF YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IT TO THE JUDGES, YOU BETTER BE PREPARED FOR GETTING SCREWED ALOT!!!!
I am happy for Peter, I think he will be there longer than Toney, Toney is basically finished, he is getting older and has no solid chance of becomming a HW Champ...
Good Luck,
Coach

Disagree completely. The announcers called it as closer than it actually was. BTW, are you actually saying that you thought Forrest deserved the W over Quartey (and that it was just HBO hyping him)?? Even Forrest knew he didn't win the fight (just like, if you saw Peter's face before the result, he knew he didn't win either).

I actually watched the fight again, and have to admit, the announcers were not bias towards Toney, it must have been the beer. However watch the Quartey fight again without the sound on, HBO's announcers were selling the story that Quartey was winning the whole time, and I fell for it the first time I watched the fight, but when Teddy Atlas talked about HBO creating the illusion of Quartey winning the fight I watched it again.
For the record, I still think HBO has the best announcing crew in the game today. They just sort jump on a bandwagon every so often.

Showtime announcers were fair to both Peter and Toney man, but the judges were not. Now as far as the Quartey vs Forrest robbery is concerned, I dunno what you are talkin bout. Cus Larry and Manny were all for Forrest, while Jim and Ledderman were for Quartey. A fight were the announcers were paintin a BS picture was the HBO cheerleading for Taylor against Winky. They even fooled most folks into thinkin Taylor won that last round, myself included the first time I watched it. ::**
