Besides the obvious fighters, he should of faught Sven Ottke when he had the chance. But that fight didn't happen cuz Calzaghe wouldn't fight in Germany and he didn't want Ottke to get the larger purse. Ignoring the fact that Ottke's lameass IBF and WBA titles actually meant more than Calzaghe's crappy a** WBO title. He always said Ottke was nothing to be scared of. So why not go into Germany and fight the champion who only scored 6 knock outs in his career? Let me guess it was all Ottke's fault that fight didn't happen. Just like it's Bernard Hopkins fault, Roy Jones fault, Kessler fault, Glen Johnson's fault, Antonio Tarver's fault, Winky Wright's fault that there fight's with Calzaghe don't happen. It's always somebody else's fault, but never Joe's.
I agree with you El gamo, Calzaghe wins in my book.
Violent Demise. How many of Ottke's fights have you seen when he has been defending in Germany ? I'll tell what i know, and that is he get's the decision, he owns the ref, the is no way he loses when fighting at home. I ask you this Q Why did he never leave Germany to fight ?
A. He would have lost.
Unfortunately I seen a couple of Ottke fights. I never once said he was great. He was far from it. And he got the close win all the time. Some unjust. By I'll give Ottke this, he fought often. And his resume while not great, is better than Calzaghe. As for Ottke not fighting outside of Germany, why does that matter? Calzaghe don't fight anywhere but his own turf, either.
Re: Tarver disses Joe Calzaghe
calzaghe would murder tarver.

But given the styles of Tarver and Calzaghe, and Calzaghe's defense and ability and skill not being anywhere near Hopkins' then this will be a tough fight.
EXACTLY

How is JC more skilled than Tarver? Who has Joe beaten to show you that he can defeat Tarver? and we alll know it will be at Light Heavy Tarver by TKO

Well, as to the more skilled of the fighters, then it is certainly got to be Joe C. His footwork his better, his volume of punches, but more importantly, the angles of his punches and the ferocity of his flurries make him a hard fighter to defend against. He's also got good body movement reactions, and I just don't think that Tarver can bring in too much to combat that. He's quite one-dimensional, and Calzaghe will just avoid that dimension IMO.
Anyway, if FW gets it done then it will let us put those arguments to rest. Otherwise, it'll just be another stick to beat Joe with.

CC, your right in all your points, but I don't think at this point it would even come down to skill... Tarver's problem is not a lack of skill, he is quite a capable counter puncher with decent footwork and punching ability, but his stamina has always been suspect... Now, it's just plain crap imo. He has look like total shat in his last few fights, both Glen Johnson fights, the 3rd RJJ fights, and against HOpkins. He's lazy, he hasn't needed to work much to win his fights with Johnson or Roy Jones, and Hopkins totally exposed him for being so lazy and out of condition. IF he were to fight Calzaghe, he would need a serious reality check, and he would need a long and strenuous training camp to get back into form. If he could do it, I think it would be a great fight even, if he were to look the way he did against Roy in the first fight, he could give Joe serious trouble with his power and reach.. As of now, or his last fights, Calzaghe would absolutely overwhelm him, that's why I say skill wouldn't even be the biggest factor. Hopkins used skill to toy with Tarver, but Calzaghes output is just so high I don't think he would even need to worry as much, and I would be shocked if he didn't stop Tarver as we've been seeing him lately.
