I don't have a problem with people that don't believe in God. I just have a problem with people that won't accept that they are operating on faith not fact, just as much as any Bible believer. The atheists feel they have more evidence for there religion, and that is not the case. We are all in the faith boat, there is nothing but BELIEF for both sides of the argument.
Atheism is a religion? ;D

You are sadly mistaken about who is behind the crusades. Also it's the religion that promotes evolution; secular humanism that is recommending eliminating 9/10ths of the worlds population.
THE MESSAGE OF THE GEORGIA GUIDESTONES
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
10.Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.
Limiting the population of the earth to 500 million will require the extermination of nine-tenths of the world's people. The American Stonehenge's reference to establishing a world court foreshadows the current move to create an International Criminal Court and a world government. The Guidestones' emphasis on preserving nature anticipates the environmental movement of the 1990s, and the reference to "seeking harmony with the infinite" reflects the current effort to replace Judeo-Christian beliefs with a new spirituality.
The message of the American Stonehenge also foreshadowed the current drive for Sustainable Development. Any time you hear the phrase "Sustainable Development" used, you should substitute the term "socialism" to be able to understand what is intended. Later in this syllabus you will read the full text of the Earth Charter which was compiled under the direction of Mikhail Gorbachev and Maurice Strong. In that document you will find an emphasis on the same basic issues: control of reproduction, world governance, the importance of nature and the environment, and a new spirituality. The similarity between the ideas engraved on the Georgia Guidestones and those espoused in the Earth Charter reflect the common origins of both.

Actually it's "bearer" not bringer. But God changed his name. It is fairly common in the Bible for God to change someones name after a significant event. Abram=Abraham, Jacob=Israel, Sarai=Sarah, Saul=Paul. Get the idea.

I've definitely questioned it. I once held similiar opinions to yours. I think you are blaming God for what should be blamed on the devil. Did you realize names have meanings? By the way it is very debatable whether life is being extended. According to the Bible pre flood humans lived to be 900+ years. God set the limit of 120 years after the flood and there are reports of many people in ancient times living 100+ years. Right now we are averaging 70. Is that higher or lower than 900?

Who were you referring to when you said, "wierdy-beardy religious nutcases"?
I don't have a beard. And I wouldn't need to apply for for nutcase status, if I were they would label me that as I was being committed.
My feelings aren't that easy to hurt so I am not defensive, but I would like an explanation of your comment. If it wasn't referenced towards me, who? :boxedin:

Re: Creation and evolution aside,
OK then - I was having a poke at everyone who spent pages and pages of threads on this subject (and also the one about creationism v evolution). You were part of it, so I guess I did refer to you as well.
It is all a bit tedious - people with half-baked ideas, others who proceed with unshakeable faith, some who try and dress it up with flawed 'science' and all the rest of it. It is all toe-curlingly earnest - people posting up snippets of information that they have learnt form disreputable sources and then not fully understood.... and all this being seriously presented as the answer to the greatest question in the Unverse (along with a healthy yet truly geekish sense of conspiracy theories, and Da Vinci Code-style stupidity)
And, before you react - I know that I didn't have to enter the thread or post anything. I know that I do not know any of the answers to these questions. I also know that one fo the primary manifestations of religious fascism is a lack of a sense of irony or humour.
Sorry - but you did ask.

You think I don't sense irony or humor? I sense it just fine, you're just not very funny. I am not offended by anyones comments in this discussion. I think it is very ironic and actually moronic for people to claim they have facts which they have never verified, but accept by faith, then poke fun of others who admit they only have faith.
It's not me getting my panties in a bunch, you and missy, and fenster, throw the 2 sentence snide and insulting comments around. It's a discussion that I would rather spend time on than another prime for prime tyson vs superman. You know that after reading here for awhile you get those out of your system, and you don't get involved in those anymore. I just haven't gotten this one out yet.
By the way as far as conspiracies..... Why is it that people are so high minded about them? Insider trading goes on all the time, many of these things can be easily proven, yet as long as it's labeled a "conspiracy" it's laughed off.
The federal reserve act of 1913 was REALLY voted in on Dec. 23rd, 1913 while almost all of the people who SHOULD have been voting were home on holiday vacation. It was really a conspiracy where the minority that supported it waited until everyone left, called an "emergency" session, and voted it in unaninamously. Check up on it, it isn't a "theory". It is verifiable and proveable, therefore not a theory. Evolution IS a theory cause it's not verifiable or testable and definitely not proven. Hence the name "theory". Translation is fairytale.... But people get pissed off defending there fairytale, and want to mock my fairytale, by calling there's "science". It's not. Same argument over and over. I am not trying to force anyone to believe my faith, but don't promote yours as being proven cause we are both on equal ground. And any one who doesn't understand that has been LIED to.

Sorry Luvfightgame, but I have an impression of you banging the keys of your computer really hard when you are making one of your rambling sermons. I don't doubt you might actually believe what you are saying (and I know no better as I have no first-hand facts or evidence either way)
I am not going to get into an argument with you, and I'm trying not to fall out with you ....... I'm just saying that - as a non-expert - it sounds like tedious ranting to me.
A mass of half-truths and internet myths, put together seemingly at random to make a vast amorphous tower of belief. It has little foundation but is festooned wiht the armour of social exclusion, which makes it impervious to the probing of rational minds.
Still, have a cool click for being committed.

Re: Creation and evolution aside,
I am not mad at ya. Here's your cc back.
Sorry I don't like your humor, it's just hard to follow. I know you're a pretty smart guy but communication just isn't your forte.
Anyway's how could you call my posts long????? My posts are always fairly short. I think you are confusing me with someone else.
Anyways, I like boxing and whether you agree with me or not, I could kick your tail.....
Just kidding. ;D Seriously I don't take this stuff personal, and I am certainly not pounding away on my keyboard. Maybe it's some stereotype you have. You didn't have an encounter with a priest growing up did ya?????
Now try to say I don't have a sense of humor. I don't care who you are that was funny.
-
Re: Creation and evolution aside,
Ah-ha gotcha - it's just a theory that some people think I'm 'smart', there are absolutely no facts behind it at all, and it can't be proven or disproved ;D It must be an article of faith. Anyone who thinks different has been LIED to ;)
I don't remember any encounters with priests, but that could have been a previous incarnation?
Also, now that we are friends - I do owe you a bit of an apology for giving you a hard time for my own amusement. I checked out your other posts and decided that you were actually a boxing fan and not a religious fanatic after all. Trouble was, I had already started laying into you and couldn't get myself out of it gracefully.
So, sorry and all that. But I still don't agree with you - we'll agree to disagree and I will go to bed as it's late and I have to work tomorrow.
-
Re: Creation and evolution aside,
I am probably still a religious fanatic, just haven't turned raving yet..... There's still time cause i'm young though.
Apology accepted, and please accept mine as well. Again I don't get uptight about it really. It's just interesting to me to discuss. I have been a boxing fan much longer than a religious nut. So I got senority in that realm.
Overall we're friends, in theory. :D

By the way it is very debatable whether life is being extended. According to the Bible pre flood humans lived to be 900+ years. God set the limit of 120 years after the flood and there are reports of many people in ancient times living 100+ years. Right now we are averaging 70. Is that higher or lower than 900?
Since where is the rational sceintific evidence supported by reasonably accurate measurements to even suggest that we have at one time or another in our history lived to 900+ years?
"History" such as that found in the bible comes from hand to mouth fed down information that gets distorted as the story evolves more and more and then takes on whole new characters and therefore different meanings get read into it.
I dont buy into the bible being fact whatsoever, but more as a very interesting piece of literature....
No hating on the believers on my part, but im a sceptic and I rely on using the data we have in existence here today to try and judge and understand the world around me...
-
Re: Creation and evolution aside,
There are no scientific evidences to support 900+ years. We do have a group of books claiming to be eyewitness accounts.
Now you mention reasonably accurate. What would be the margin of error to be called reasonably accurate? If we were given a range of say 100-500 would that be reasonably accurate? The reason I ask is that the supposed carbon dating give ranges of thousands of years. What most should consider horribly inaccurate, yet it is acceptable in "science".
I strongly disagree that the information in the Bible is distorted. The accuracy of the oldest known complete copies are identicacle to recent versions. In addition the "scribes" had an extremely tedious method for making copies. Because of it the manuscripts were very well copied, not distorted or interpreted.
Your opinion, but you should add to interesting, amazing historical accuracy.
Skeptics are welcome, just exercise the same skepticism towards all the data you receive. You have of course accepted things without personally verifying them. I am sure you've never peered into a strong enough microscope to see an atom. Never visited china, never looked through a strong enough telescope to see pluto. You do believe they exist though.

But there is significant existing scientific evidence to support the case for atoms. Ive not bothered to peer into the lens to check but using the same equipment I could see the same thing. Likewise with Pluto. Ive not got a good enough telescope to see tiny Pluto, but there are photographs of it. As for China, well I did visit the Great Wall last spring for a long weekend. So im pretty sure China exists.
900 year old people dont come into the equation here when referring to science. We have absolutely no scientific evidence to support such a case. Some people say they've seen the Loch Ness monster. It doesnt mean it actually exists. And if it does exist then show me the evidence and I will happily revise my opinion. Im only a sceptic until something can convince me otherwise. I dont just accept opinions without facts to back them up. Its just the way I am.

That is very reasonable, and in theory I believe you. Lets look at what you do believe now that you've told us what you don't believe.
Big bang theory?
Evolution meaning change in species, not change within a species?

How can you have a discussion about such crap, people used to live till they were 900 years old but then God got pissed off so he set a limit of 120. Sorry that's utter bollocks and I have every right to call anyone who puts that forward an idiot, it isn't even worthy of debate.

Yeah mate but the bible also said some guy walked on water and cured blind people ;) Dont see that happening these days lol . (i only know these facts coz they are widely known, ive never read the bible). Ramses the second live (Ramses the great) lived to 97 yrs old but thats only coz he was treated like a god. Just like the queen and that is today, they will do anything to make them survive. Ramses the great is also supposedly the pharaoh moses told to free his people but i dont believe there is any record of Ramses witnessing or making any mention of it or seeing a guy split a sea in half. If you want to believe in god then why is it that all religion is not the same? If it was certain there was so much evidence pointing to a god then wouldnt everyone believe in it? Instead you got a whole lot of different religions and people like the egyptians believed in way more then one. I believe they had a god for everything and different levels of gods eg state gods, national, local...kind of thing, kind of like government really.

But if you've NEVER questioned it, you are a sheeple which is worse than being the devil himself (http://www.sheeple.net!)
I've definitely questioned it. I once held similiar opinions to yours. I think you are blaming God for what should be blamed on the devil. Did you realize names have meanings? Satan means deceiver, or liar. The devil is referenced by several different names in the Bible and each one has a significant meaning. Mainly- liar, deciever, ensnarer, murderer, theif.
By the way it is very debatable whether life is being extended. According to the Bible pre flood humans lived to be 900+ years. God set the limit of 120 years after the flood and there are reports of many people in ancient times living 100+ years. Right now we are averaging 70. Is that higher or lower than 900?
::** I'm glad I live a long way from idiots like you.
People are having a civilized discussion/debate and you come along and call someone an idiot.
Way to set a good example.
How can you have a discussion about such crap, people used to live till they were 900 years old but then God got pissed off so he set a limit of 120. Sorry that's utter bollocks and I have every right to call anyone who puts that forward an idiot, it isn't even worthy of debate.
Actually God didn't get pissed off at people. He did it because the angels were breeding humanity out of existence. That's what the Bible says. You have every right to do anything you like, and the Bible says that too. I can tell you don't find it worthy to debate because you've only offered your opinion, and presented nothing to debate. Usually people who get so bent out of shape about this topic are angry at God for some reason. Why are you mad at God Missy?

How can I be angry at something that doesn't exist. ;)
You have a god because you are mentally weak.

First the guy the Bible says walked on water and cured blind people claims to be the creator of the universe that left heaven to live as a man. That would definitely be why you don't see that today. Now whether you believe that is true is a different matter, but the claim is that God Himself did those things.
Many people we can prove from history have lived to be 100+ years. There hasn't been any improvement in our lifespans. Actually now a days people are heavily medicated by the time they get to 60 if they go see doctors regularly.
Again every society of humans throughout history believed in a God or gods. That should support the existence of a God. Even in remote tribes in the jungle, they believe in some form of God. Now the reason for multiple gods, is that there are many creatures that are higher than men. There are angels, demons, and other spirits that interact with humans and men worship them. Everyone believes in a God until they are trained not too.

Oh, so you are too tough for God.....
You don't know me to be able to make a judgement about my strength. I doubt if you did you would make that statement, physically or mentally.

I don't see how the ignorance of other primitive cultures supports existence of god - just existence of primitive cultures
It means they believe what they wanna believe, just like I wanna believe my penis is the biggest one on this forum but it's probably not :( (not with emma present!)

:(
You think I don't sense irony or humor? I sense it just fine, you're just not very funny. I am not offended by anyones comments in this discussion. I think it is very ironic and actually moronic for people to claim they have facts which they have never verified, but accept by faith, then poke fun of others who admit they only have faith.
It's not me getting my panties in a bunch,
you and missy, and fenster, throw the 2 sentence snide and insulting comments around. It's a discussion that I would rather spend time on than another prime for prime tyson vs superman. You know that after reading here for awhile you get those out of your system, and you don't get involved in those anymore. I just haven't gotten this one out yet.
If i called you a moronic, gullible, lunatic, c***. That would be an insult.
I ask questions. Sorry if they upset you.
It must be the Atheist religion ;)
You don't upset me fen, but you know darn well you make cynical and snide comments. I apologize for saying 2 sentences, you average 3. 8)
Probably cause i'm a cynical cunt. It's true.
It doesn't take many sentences when you're using common sense. ;)
