Everyone forgets that Hearns had tremendous boxing skills and if he wanted could out box mcllelan.

I think Gerald would win.

Tell me how, and why Hearns would win.

Tommy Hearns had unbelivable punching power just like Gerald and a great chin. Tommy also had much faster hands to deliver quick and powerful shots. Most people forget about tommy having great boxing ability and being able to stay on the outside and wear his opponents down. Gerald usually went in from the first round and tried to land a big shot which he done well. I think tommy would stay on the outside moving around gerald and wear him down. Gerald would then start to slow and tommy would hit him with a big shot around about the 6th round which would knock gerald out.

what do you think would have happened Majesty

hearns never had great chin if barkley could catch hearns and ko him im sure gerald could

i only need to see 4 of them ;) because most of his fights never went past 1st round ;) anyways tommy hearns fights ive seen are marvin hagler one both of barkley ones. both of fights with sugar ray leonard and one with duran

hearns at welterweight whoops everone

McClellan had the heaviest of hands for an MW, Hearns had the weakest of chins for an MW.

i think thats a bit harsh saying he had the weakest chin becasue he didnt

hearns also had a lot of early round KO'S. look on boxrec

if hearns would of had granite chin he would of been almost unbeatable but thats thing he lacked was great chin thats why he didnt beat leonard in first fight or hagler in there thriller or barkley

yea i know i dont watch all there fights i only watch important ones like duran hagler barkley leonard ect and few others

At the end of the day thommy hearns is a legend. The fight with mclellan never happened and everyone has there opinion and i respect that. so u think mclelan would have won and i think hearns. fair enough.

we are talking about a fight at middleweight.

what about if mcllelan moved down welter which is were hearns was best at.

i think mclellan could have been a middleweight legend if he never suffered that terrible tragety abainst benn. imagine the fights that could have happened.

Fair enough....Cant Fathom Gerald Going down to 147 since he was a natural Middleweight

I have a sparring match from 1990 where Tommy Hearns is sparring Gerald McClelland. ... Good matchup. Atlantic City.

give me a few weeks. I might try and make an account on youtube since alot of fights are on there. The matched was taped at a far enough away distance, and both Tommy and Gerald are announced. I think it is 3 rounds.

cool thanks. As far as McClelland vs. Hearns. Problem with this fight is timing. By the time Gerald was fighting, Hearns was on the downside. Hearns would have had trouble with McClelland. I will try and get that sparring session on. although I am not sure what it shows as far as who would win. What I remember is Gerald trying to get Tommy on the ropes and landing occasionally and Hearns boxing and jabbing and landing occasional right hands. It was from April 1990 when Tommy was preparing for Michael Olajide

In their respective primes Hearns wins because he catches G-Man early with a HARDER punch and doesn't stop til Gerald is TKO'd

Tommy would be lured into a slugfest about 15 seconds into the fight instead of Boxing Gerald....Gerald was a freak and when the bell rang he only had 1 speed and that was 10000000mph..The bombs he hit Benn with would of destroyed Tommy period....Dont let what happened against Benn fool anyone Nigel got some big time homecookin, Nigel Benn was getting pounded while he was hung up on the ropes and wasnt able to intelligently able to defend himself he got TKO'd....BUT!!!! A crooked referee let the fight continue and Held Gerald back on 2 occasions during the 1st round to let Benn get his witts back....The truth is Gerald was a Murderous puncher and could KO hearns in a gunfight...If not convinced of the outcome go watch the Hagler fight...Hagler could punch but not nearly as hard as Gerald McClellan...in a shoot out Gerald would KO Tommy Hearns..

Hagler fight isn't a good comparison imo, because I don't think McClellan could have stood up to the barrage that Marvin did, not in any way.

I think the fight would have had to happen at 154 or 160 and that would be both of their primes

i have to disagree jt benn only had about 5 or 6 extra seconds and that ref was known for being fussy he wasnt tkoed he survived nothing wrong with what i saw benn got 5 or 6 extra seconds and was lucky to survive and made one of best comebacks in boxing histroy

gerald could take hearns punches gerald took jacksons punches and didnt even move and jackson is prolly one of hardest hitting middleweights of all time the difference is hearns couldnt take geralds punches because gerald comes out looking for 1st round kill see jackson vs gerald 2 hearns was koed by barkley yes maybe lucky but still got the job done i feel gerald kos hearns quite early to be honest i missed typed on last page.

Again sorry I will sway my opinion on some matters...This isint one of them, watch that fight!!! Now watch any other NORMAL fight and you telll me honestly someone wasnt on the take that night...10 times out of 10 that is a TKO.. not to mention the 2x the ref held Gerald back as to let Benn get his wits the repeated fouls were despicable..Spin it anyway you want...HomeCookin bottom line
