cc. excellent post. F holyfield. Ironically i just posted my thoughts on this very thing in the Valuev thread. tyson was always a very clean fighter...until HF cut him open with a headbut. But I've always said that Tyson should have headbutted him back or lowblowed him...something not so obvious. But I don't blame the guy whatsoever for becoming enraged at HF's butts.

Let look at the so called Holyfield Head butt more closely,, who butted who ? tell me mate ? Looks like to me Tyson was the one fouling Holyfield .! All that B.S . about Holyfield is a dirty fighter is a joke. He aint gonna lay down and let someone like Tyson bully him, Like Tyson does other fighters. Holyfield will adapt to his opponent. if the guy wants to fight ruff, Holyfiled will oblige, but Holyfield always tries to stay within the rules.

You can actually see at the end of the clip after Mike head butt's Evander . Tyson is trying to break Holyfields arm like he tried vs Frans Botha. ! Mike got frustrated and start resorting to street tactics. Holyfield was kicking his ass right from the gate ! ;)

One fighter that I have always admired for being able to stay within the rules was Kostya Tszyu. He was very disciplined and never lost control of his emotions, even when fighters would flagrantly foul him, Tszyu would stay true to form and continue his onslaught within the confine of the rules. .
Im guessing you haven't seen Tszyu vs Mitchell I?? Sharmba had a bad knee coming into that fight and Kosta was constantly pushing him and trying to force all of his weight on the bad leg, he was definetly fighting dirty that night.
Or the Hatton fight, Yes hatton was dirty but kostya gave it all back, He was the one who did 2 low blows just before hatton did his infamous one!

Mike Tyson is what we call " Gym socks " They are ferocious and tuff, and like you say savage. thats till you put them in the wash, then they come out just plain ole socks ! :-X Mike was a thrill fighter no doubt about that.

I would have to say James Butler. The cheap shot after he lost the decision to Grant was terrible. He is currently doing 29 years for murdering Max Kellerman brother.

Golota. Headbutts, COMBINATION groin-punching, Dracula-like biting of an opponents neck. The guy was talented but didn't have the mentality to be in the ring.
(Dis)honorable mention goes to Tyson. Ear biting. Headbutting. Trying to break opponent's arms in clinches. Hitting Lou Savarese after the ref jumped in (and hitting the ref with a forearm/bicep). Biting Lewis' leg at a weigh-in.
Also that James "Hammer" Butler guy. The fella who murdered Max Kellerman's brother. I haven't seen many of his fights, but just for that one sucker punch on Richard Grant after their fight he deserves to be mentioned here IMO.

Not sure about all time, but Robert Guererro is DEFINITELY a dirty fighter. I like that though.
Also, may he Rest in Peace, but Agapito Sanchez was the definition of dirty. He used headbutts, elbows, lowblows everything. His fight with Pacquiao is one of the worst I've ever seen really. That could have been called easily in the second round. And if not the second, definitely the third.

A name I'd throw into the mix, having seen his fight against Joe Calzaghe and seen his record would be Kabary "The Egyptian Magician" Salem. 1 point deducted in his fight with Calzaghe, 2 with his fight with Mario Veit and a stoppage on an 'accidental' headbutt against Rudy Markussen. Not a great fighter, but tough as they come.
