I think if we just sit back patiently Mayweather will surprise us. Sooner or later he will grow up, see through his own foggy perception of greatness and realise that the measure is in the test. ;)

Lyle I'm not picking here but out of the 3 fighters you just mentioned the only one that has been stepping it up is Cotto the question I have is How good is Cotto's Chin at 147..I think out of 3 Cotto is the one that would give Floyd the most trouble if he can thrive at 147, after the quintana fight we will see how Miguel can deal with a bigger slick boxer...Quote:

I am not convinced that Margarito is gonna roll over Clottey, I think Clottey's gonna give him all he can handle..
Hatton moved back down in weight in an attempt to collect an alphabet title from a guy with 18 pro fights that no one really has heard of..Plus Ricky is fighting in the US were he cant wrestle, so if this kid is slick and can box Hattons in for a tough nite..
Things might very well change in the next month that will have us all scratching out heads....
Especially if Margarito loses, Floyd comes out of this looking very good
First of all, let me just say this, Margarito better watch out because if he's still huffing and puffing about this Mayweather fight and not taking this Clottey fight seriously, he WILL have a very rough night. Clottey is basically undefeated (he was up big when they DQ'ed him late against Baldy). Albeit, he doesn't have a bunch of names on his record, I've seen him fight and he's a tough customer.
I see what you are trying to say but come on. Look at Floyd's record and look at Aaron Pryor's record. How many fighters has Floyd fought over his 37 fight career with more than 5 losses on their record? 10. How many fighters did Aaron Pryor fight over his 40 fight career with more than 5 losses on their record? 24. I mean after Pryor beat Cervantes for the light welterweight title, he followed his win with a fight against a guy who had 20 losses on his record. If Floyd did that today, what would you all say? Granted, they fought a lot more often back then, but there should be no reason for an elite fighter to fight a guy with twenty losses on his record. If Pryor did that today people would call him a phony. I mean it's not like Mayweather just beating bums, he's DOMINATING legit world champions and he's moving one or two weight classes out of his natural boxing weight to do it. I don't understand your logic. It's not fair to Floyd to say he's not as good as Pryor.Quote:
So Floyd wants to retire soon, that's cool with me I mean if he feels like he has accomplished everything he wants to that's fine HOWEVER will he be looked at as an ALL-TIME GREAT?
Let us discuss this and compare him to other fighters in similar weight classes.
"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. 37(24 KO)-0-0: Greats- I honestly have a hard time finding "GREATS" PBF fought but he has a lot of very good fighters on his record: Corrales, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Castillo, Baldomir
"Sugar" Ray Leonard 36 (25 KO)-3-1: Greats - Hearns, Duran, Hagler, Benitez. Good - Camacho, Norris, Mayweather Sr.,
Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor 39(35 KO)-1-0: Greats - Arguello, Cervantes. Good - Kim, Kameda, Johnson.
I honestly think unless Floyd fights Shane Mosely, Oscar De la Hoya, or Winky Wright he'll be on the fringe of being an all-time Great.
Maybe it's because he's just so good, or maybe he just hasn't been in with the best fighters....he should have fought Mosley already and the De la Hoya fight NEEDS to happen....Floyd can't beat those guys IMO, they are too tough to be KO'd and too good of boxers to let themselves be outboxed
Oscar De la Hoya (Trying to make that fight happen)Quote:

Kostya Tszyu (Mayweather was looking to make that fight after Tszyu beat Hatton but we all saw what happened)
Ricky Hatton (Lord, Hatton has been running scared from Mayweather ever since he watched Floyd demolish Gatti in person, give me a break)
Miguel Cotto (Everyone knows that Arum ain't gonna let Cotto fight Floyd, Arum wants to build Cotto up to HUGE proportions, there's no way he's risking that by maybe testing Cotto to early)
Antonio Margarito (If Floyd wins, people will just say who has Tony beaten? Which is exactly a lot of people have already asked.)
Joel Casamayor (A hard hitting southpaw at 135, Floyd might have gotten out early before he HAD to fight Joel)
Acelino Frietas (So you are saying that Floyd demolishing Corrales doesn't mean shit but Corrales KTFO of Freitas, yeah, you're making TOTAL sense now.)
Jorge Barrios (So beating Genaro Hernandez and Angel Manfredy at 130, didn't mean shit, but this fight did?)
Vernon Forrest (What??? Mayweather was nowhere near 147 when Forrest was on top. And now that Forrest is back, he sucks.)
Ricardo Mayorga (Yeah, Floyd will get about as much credit as Oscar did, which after the bright lights had faded, was none.)
Winky Wright (The one fight on here that makes sense, but Floyd tried to make a fight with Winky and once again Winky started talking crazy with the money talk, he wanted 50-50, and Floyd wanted 55-45. Floyd's #1 P4P and stepping up to 154, I don't see how Winky should get 50-50)
Jesse James Leija (?????)
Pernell Whittaker (He retired in 1999 and was already at 147)
Your list makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!!!
Oh he's as good. Just a different style of fighter. Pryor was a badass though. His constant pressure would give Floyd a lot of trouble. I could see him winning that fight as well at least winnin one or two in a trilogy of Mayweather-Pryor fights...Quote:

the problem with floyd for me is that if you are the greatest then you gotta show some heart. floyd shows no heart, he infact shows very little. he seems to have no pride...he's willing to dominate a guy over 4 rounds and rather than put him away(which he could have against baldi), he decides hes gonna coast over the next 8 rounds to an easy victory. so he spent alot of the fight litterally running away, throwing one or two punches, ducking, running, throwing a punch running and ducking again....etc... that is not great. that is not a show of heart. that is not what great boxing is all about, and that is not what we look for in an all time great fighter.
so is floyd agile? yes. is he fast? yes. can he box? yes. can he run around the ring like a chicken instead of taking someone out? yes. is he great because of it? no.
yeah thats a good list lyle. CC. mayweather should fight some of these guysQuote:
