one of my best mates is really into his boxing now (but only cos i've been raping it upon him for years and making him hold the pads for me and getting him into scraps). but most of my mates are into there sports anyways and will always watch the big fights (but only the major fights really, or fights that i promise em will be good). but whenever hatton fights we usualy have a lock in and there will be shit loads of us there. electric stuff.
Nope not a Gotdam one its pathetic......
My step father kinda but likes to watch more than talk about it.....I used to call my parents up and ask him if he was oredering the PPv's then he would order but the poor bastage would fall asleep...I fealt bad but S***, saved my azz 50 beans...then he caught on and my azz is shelling out at least $100 a month...But Fuk it, I love it
I used to invite my friends over but like someone posted earlier they just talk incessently about what chic there banging and dumb Shite like that all the while I'm glued to the tube yelling SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
needless to say I am solo for the big fights and I'm quite content with that.....
I got you Fukers to talk shop with and am very pleased to do so........ ;)

I usually talk to them about it and when they come around,I might put on a few clips. The only fight they have ever watched from beginning to end is Corrales v Castillo, they were shouting and stuff when that was on! A testament to a great fight!
I went to an amatuer fight a while back. When I was talking to a fighter after the show, it was like we were hungry to talk to each other because noboby knows about the sport. Its almost stunning to hear other people talk about fighters that aren't mega stars.
If I meet other boxing fans the conversation immidiatley becomes intense.
Me and my friend (who never really agrees on anything) constantly argue over boxing and ufc. He says there's more action, i say there's worse technique, the debate could go on for hours. I also find that if you find a fan of boxing they have a lot to say about the sport.
Well out of our group of 12 or so.....only one other of my mates watches boxing and thats only becuase i make him so i aint sat up at 2am on myself! Even he aint into it like i am though he just likes the biggest and best fights.
I don;t know about you guys but when I meet someone who knows even Corrales Castillo etc are,I get so happy!! Seriously,I meet peeps, ask if they like boxing and they say yes, their fave boxers are Mike Tyson,Lennox Lewis,Naseem Hamed etc etc all retired, semi retired fighters! I ask them if they know about the big fight coming up(ie Pacman Erik) and they'll look puzzled and that's when the conversation ends!
More fo the people I work with rather than my actual friends like boxing. I work on a building site and for a supposedly dieing sport, it's still very popular among working class men.
I suppose that in the UK at least, the late 80s into the early 90s was the most recent of eras when boxing was very popular and mainstream here, though it is in resurgence at the moment, with the return of high-level boxing to terrestrial TV. I guess a lot of people here if asked about boxing would mention those same fighters, because those are the faces that they remember seeing on TV after coming home from the pub.Quote:
