Re: J C Chavez or S R Leonard ?
I agree, Leonard had a very good chin, no doubt, but if we're talking chin's then I would say Chavez had a better chin. Leonard's style of fighting mean't his chin wasn't exposed as much as Chavez's.

Got to be careful what you say here, remember the fight Chavez had against Haugen in the Azteca Stadium, prior to the fight Haugen said the same thing, that Chavez had simply fought "cab drivers" so Chavez unleashed a severe beating on Haugen, and after the fight during the interviews Chavez said to Haugen something along the lines of, " all those cab drivers I fought, they must have been tough yeh" and Haugen apologised to Chavez and lifted Chavez's right hand in the air!

Benitez,Hearns,Hagler,Duran and even LaLone ain't no Haugen....Greg isn't even in their ballpark with the exception of maybe Donny
Re: J C Chavez or S R Leonard ?
Everything about Chavez is overrated, including his chin. You can count on one hand the number of legit opponents he fought, and most of those fingers end up being guys who beat him.
Re: J C Chavez or S R Leonard ?
I am not sure. Chavez does not have the wins or ring resume Ray did with the top notch. I mean Ray fought 4 hall of fame fighters within 7 fights or so. Duran,Hearns,Hagler,Benitez. The thing about Chavez was not his wins vs. the top guys but that he destroyed guys who normally were pretty tough. Haugen was tough and Chavez beat him easy. Remember that right hand in round one. He comes over easily and rocked Haugen and then knocks him down with the second. Then he beats up Haugen for 5 more rounds. Then Dupliesis.. I think I spelled that wrong. He beat Duplesis easy. Yeah other guys beat Duplesis, but he beat him like it was nothing, Chavez probably cannot go down as good as Ray, but he was dominant.

Come on Leonard haters answer me this!
Re: J C Chavez or S R Leonard ?
I think it is silly to compare the 2 ...very different careers, they are both ATG's....I have Tommy Hearns and SRL at the same level thou, and Tommy holding an edge on skills...give a chin to Tommy and he would have been the toughest fighter ever...
Re: J C Chavez or S R Leonard ?
Whoever said Lalonde was better than Haugen? no way. Lalonde was not that good. The only reason Leonard fought him was that Lalonde would be 168 pounds and Ray could win the 168 pounder by fighting a weakened 175 pound champion. Haugen was better than Lalonde.
