Why do you consider Vazquez-Gonzalez an upset? Vazquez was, is the Ring champion at that weight. Gonzalez was the one moving up in weight for the fight. I'm not exactly sure but I think Vazquez was also the slight favor going in. I'm just wondering why you consider it an upset?

Most were predicting Gonzales to win...I was one of the most. Hence the reason that I considered it an upset.

Vaz might have been the champ at that weight & he might have been considered that by Ring...but going into the 7th...IWO...Gonz was on top of the fight until Vaz clocked him. Gonz had lowered the boom on Vazquez in the 4th and 6th rounds with several left hooks but he worked his way back through it & then pretty much hammered him in the tenth round.

Gonzalez was ahead on the scorecards...again...hence the reason I saw it as an upset.

Totally agree. If there was any robbery in the Guzman fight it was that it was so close. Guzman won that fight 9 rounds to 3 to me.

Quartey won that fight by a fairly wide margin, Also thought that Campus kicked Duddy's ass pretty convincingly... those fucking New York , New Jersey judges suck ass and are on the take ! You can trace almost all the bad decision in the U.S . to New York and New Jersey. The athletic commissions in those states need a good cleaning out ! O0

Worst commentator of the year : Max Kellerman would be my vote . he comes off as such an arrogant asshole in my opinion. " when he was quoted as saying " The Heavyweight division has never been better", right before the Timor - Calvin Brock fight, I couldn’t stop laughing. ! his voice and attitude get on my nerve . ;)

Agreed ! O0 Kellerman is often confrontational with the other announcers , which makes for a horrible watch for the fan. A good commentator should help out his stumbling counter part, not try to make him look like an idiot. Know what I mean. ?

Lampley does a fantastic job of doing just that, he can bring an awkward moment to a swift resolution... he really helped George Foreman out alot O0 Cool Click #1220

I give Lennox a bit of break cause he is a fighter first, Lewis is learning on the job. what Lennox needs to do to improve himself is educate himself on the fighters fighting on the card , he needs to watch fighter tapes , rather then get the information force fed to him from the wagon. lots of times he knows nothing about the fighters fighting on the card, which is simply not doing your homework and leaves him with that blank look on his face, while information is being relayed to him from the truck . O0

I agree ! RJJ did a fantastic job... also liked George Foreman,, he would make me laugh alot of the times.

I liked Foreman sometimes but other times,he came out with nonsense but I think he acknowledged once that he fought to KO people,with not much tactical thought which is why most of his analysis is based around he needs to sit down on his shots,knock the guy out etc etc. One thing though,he was always interesting. I also like Al Bernstein at Showtime and the guy he is usually with,they are cool.

1. Fighter of The Year, Bernard Hopkins for proving the doubters wrong and making history against Tarver, and at 42 years old to boot.

Why all the Pacman mania? All he did was knocked out a guy who was probably more shot than Arturo Gatti. Plus he had knocked him out last year as well. He didn't look so hot against Larios.

2. Fight of the Year. Arthur Abraham vs Edison Miranda. Just brutal, great fight.

3. KO of the year, ok I'll give this to the pacman, it marked a decisive change of the guard in the history of the featherweight divisions.

4. Upset of The Year, Has to be Baldimor vs Judah. Baldimor's rise from obscurity to fame was meteoric. I'm guessing his slide from fame back to obscurity will be meteoric also.

5. Event Of The Year, I'll give this to Pacquiao Morales, the end of an era.

6. Round Of The Year. For comedy value Briggs vs Lyakhovich

7. Comeback Fighter Of the Year, Audley Harrison, I mean we all expected Casmayor and Oscar to win their fights but this was a shock!

Completely agree, Atlas will FOREVER be the WORST.
It's plainfull that I love ESPN:2 fights and I enjoy! them but the sheer thought of another season watching 'Teddys Tips' his pre-fight comments where he demonstrates what each fighter has to do and he tries to show of whatever hand speed he feels he has.... Is fucken HILARY-OUS!!!

I must admit as a purely armchair fan I quite like Teddy Atlas. He sets out a few pre fight pointers that you can then look for when watching the fight.

As a non boxer I find this quite helpful, seeing how a boxer such as Ibragimov crosses his legs when moving side to side, or how Joey Gilbert brings his right foot forward to throw a big right hand etc, or how you when fighting a southpaw a good boxer will lead them around the ring to their right to minimise their effectiveness.

Its those little details that I learnt from Atlas that help me appreciate the sport at a slightly deeper level.

Lampley, Merchant et al actually teach you nothing whatsoever about boxing, in fact Merchant probably de-educates a lot of potential students of the fight game :P

I kinda like Teddy Atlas to be honest . an overall fantastic announcer I think , I hardly ever disagree with what he is saying during a match, he is very accurate as to whats going on in there, and has a nice vocabulary. a way of getting his points across that’s easy for people to understand. if its a bullshit desison he will jump right on a muthing judge with camera rolling ask him what the fuck were you watching. . hehehe ... I like him ! O0
