The way I saw it, Toney clearly won the damn fight, never went down, never came close to going down ONCE, let alone THREE damn times like someone we know did. And Toney fought the big puncher like a man, and pounded Peter. I like both guys, but Peter won maybe 4 rounds, which is pretty good, but hardly winnin the fight. My prediction for the second fight is Toney by decision. But if Toney comes in grossly obese and arrogant, knowing that he's already beaten Peter once and been robbed, he may be KO'd. But I highly doubt it. Toney by decision, should be Unanimous, but knowin the bitch judges, it'll be a SD.
I agree completely except i think he was hurt twice from the punches to teh back of the head.

Let me clearly state that I had James winning the first fight by a wide margin, his jab was tap dancing on on Peters eye.

I agree completely. Toney's jab was very accurate...I had him winning by 3 rounds so maybe not as wide a margin as you saw. A rematch was more than justifiable.

Here's my issues with Toney... he got fat & tried to pass himself off as a heavyweight...he's not a heavyweight...he's just fat & mouthy.
I can't stand his a**... at heavyweight.
As a super middle he was impressive now...he's just a loud mouth. I have no respect for him at this weight
Please note* i cut the above quote down a bit. look back to see the full quote(s)
He's not a heavyweight? huh?
Dude he broke 200 pounds in May of 1996! Against Richard Mason!
Thats 11 years ago!!! Thats 10 pounds OVER the Cruiser limit of 190
He HAS to have weight to deal with these big guys!
Can you imagine having Ruiz at 241 hangin all over you and holding you and clutchin and leaning and pushin, if he out weighed you by say 50 pounds! It would be Insane!
Tried??? to pass himself off as.......a heavyweight. dude thats just disrepectful!
I'm sorry, I really just dont get it!?
Of all the heavy's out there he's taken on the best of the bunch
--Jirov for the IBF cruiserweight Title Remember Jirov was 31-0!
that gave him the credability to go for a title (and BIG$) at heavy
--Evander Holyfield for only his second TKO in his career! something that
Foreman,Holmes,Moorer,Mercer,Tyson twice and Lewis twice COULDN"T DO!
and the only other time took bowe at 6'5" 3 tries inc one loss and a draw!
--Rydell Booker at 22-0 to gain the IBA HW belt,WBC Continental Americas HW belt, which was the WBC elimination bout.
--John Ruiz by Unanimous decision for the WBA and IBA belt
(later ruled a no contest)
--Dominic Guinn 25-2 (an IBA manditory)
--Hasim Rahman who had just beat Monte Barrett for the belt, for the WBC belt ,a majority draw most people felt Toney won
--Then,and now again Samuel Peters "the Nightmare" at 257 pounds! (for the IBA and NABF belts and the WBC eliminator) most people felt Toney took Peter to school.
Regardless of the disputed and controversial outcomes, if this is "Passing himself off" as a Heavyweight I wish the rest of the division would do some of that kind of passing!! Man come on! give the guy some props!
Cockyness is part of who the guy is. It gives him the balls at 5'9" (if that) to go up against these monsters. he's a slick smart pure boxer who's showing the world and the heavyweight division that Boxing isnt about size and brute strength, It's still the "SWEET SCIENCE!" and real "boxing" fans should be cheering the guy on. If you don't like Toney. Then you HAVE to love Valuev! cuz he's trying to prove the opposite!

Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Toney vs Peter II
Alright wacko i'm gonna do something really dangerous and try to understand your logic.
You have an intense dislike for toney at heavyweight when he is obviously the most skilled fighter in the division yet you rally behind the missing link because you think cavemen should have equal rights in boxing as well.
Toney beat ruiz very capably. And don't give me that he was on steroids crap. it was to treat a right arm (bicep?) muscle injury and it just so happened to be a banned substance in boxing. Prior to that the man has been clean his entire career and held titles at many other weight classes without the help of a chemical boost. After 60+ some fights i doubt he'd be looking for an easy way out. He should rightfully be the wba champion.
Let's move on to the modern day wba champion. He's 7'3" and has the mobility of an elephant with arthritic knees. His excessive reach is more than enough to handle the bums he's been in the ring with. He arguably didn't beat ruiz despite his huge height advantage but thanks to the home town advantage, he got the decision. His leaning on other fighters is down right pitiful. He should not be allowed to lay on his opponents until they gas out. Boxing success is supposed to be measured by hard work in the gym to develop superior skills not just being so huge that you can tire people out with your size.
Conclusion: the wba is losing credibility at the heavyweight division and with the wbc not too far behind (ranking a man that has fought nothing but bums with an 18-4 record, i saw somewhere list it as 18-8 prior to the match, in the top 25 of the division is an absolute joke), it's slowly becoming a one legit belt race with the ibf belt which is thankfully in the hands of the "best" boxer the division can offer at this current time who has fought the "best" opposition available for him. As for trying to understand wacko's logic, it cannot be done from a sober standpoint.

He has not beaten a legit heavyweight to date. Period. There's no rationalizing logic or pointing out dates...it can't be done. Holy was there to be beaten, yes he beat Ruiz & yes he was on steroids when he did it, Booker (dope fend & a blown up cruiser) & Quinn...please...total underacheiver, & then Peter who is one of the most unrefined heavies out there...he couldn't even beat him.
Did you really bring up Rahman?
Anywho...it's my opinion of Toney that he is a fantastic fighter...but not at 200lbs.
He needs to stop proclaiming to be that which he is not...the savior of the division. He's just a fat blowhard.
Now...when he comes in to fight & he's in shape & he shows out & wins convincingly against a legit heavy...I'll be impressed. Until then...I'll view him as a fat mouthy blown up super middle...because that's when I respected him...but that was then & this is now.

Ha ha ha ha. You are really reaching. I rally behind the missing link.
Let's dispense with this one upping of Wacko really quick. I'm as entitled to my opinion as the next man...just because it aint in line with yours or landmine's up there don't make it anymore right or wrong as the next man.
The thing is...Punisher...opinions don't always equate to logic & while you two seem to be struggling to get me over to your side...your'e both failing & you keep missing the point.
I have said time & time again that Toney is one of the most skilled fighters in the game...but he just aint convincing me at heavy.
When he beats a legit contender & does it well...then I will applaude him.
But for some reason...you two can't recognize that fact.
I'm not a Toney fan...& having a couple of rabid Toney fans trying to break my logic...well...I find that quite amusing.
Reason being...he looked like shit against Rahman, he had to take steroids to beat Ruiz, & he got beaten by a one trick poney when he fought Sam Peter.
The great James Toney...& Sam Peter went 12 with him. Come on. ::**
Don't try to wax intellectual with me about this...because your logic's just as wacko was you both keep preaching mine is. :-*

I love Toney and really want him to win, but I can't help shake the naggin feeling that this is going to be his last fight, and that he may even get stopped.
I so hope I'm wrong though, I love the guy, he's my favourite fighter by a mile, love all his smack talk and the way he's the most skilful guy out there despite looking like a black Butterbean.
I'm worried for him in this fight though. Age may catch up wth him.
And all this Billy Blanks talk, I'll admit I've never heard of him but Billy Blanks is hardly a credible sounding name is it? It's on the same level as Powerpuncher or Baller27 in terms of name appeal I think :-\

You crack me up bro....I hadn't thought about Billy Blanks, just assumed it was one of those funny American names. Personally, I think age started catching up with Toney a while ago, but while I don't see that Toney has the capacity to improve greatly to beat Peter, while I think that Peter is an improving fighter, and I can only see a more conclusive verdict going the way of the 'Nigerian Nightmare'. As for his trash talking...what's wrong with bringing a bit of dignity and civility to boxing? Didn't ever hurt the Klitshko's.

I would pay good $$ to see J-Fat in one of Billy Blanks Tae-Bo videos. Close your eyes an imagine James Toney in the cardio room of your local gym, the only man, doing Tae-Bo. Saturday Night Live needs to do that as a skit.

Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Toney vs Peter II
You people are in for a surprise come weight in and fight night itself. James Toney shall prevail just as he did so the first time only this time, there will be no doubt. Toney is training hard for this and he will prove the critics wrong.

Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Toney vs Peter II
How can the second most popular concensus be that peter wins by ko? Toney has a great chin and a very slick style that makes his ability to take a punch that much better. If peter couldn't drop Dr. glassjaw for the count what makes you think he can even hurt toney?
-
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Toney vs Peter II
The first fight was an absolutely great heavyweight fight, second best heavyweight fight of the year. Peter looks in great shape, judging from the new picture of Toney, he's looking in much better shape and might show up around 220 instead of 240. If this is the case, this will be the best heavyweight fight in a LONG time. These two are exactly what the division needs. I like both of these guys so much but I want Peter to win.

You must have not watched the first fight then because there were two or three times when Peter caught Toney and Toney was buzzed and holding onto ropes.
-
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Toney vs Peter II
I think toney being in shape has a huge impact on the nature of the fight. During the rahman fight his weight threw his balance off and he couldn't land his counters well. It looked to some people that toney's stumbling was caused from rahmans "power" but if you look closer you can see that his feet and his body weren't on the same page (sometimes it seemed like they weren't even reading the same book). Peter is a power puncher, possibly the best one in the division, but an in shape toney's skill requires more than a few big punches to overcome. Some bad judges will usually do tho :-X

I'm amazed that only 2 people have voted for a Peter decision.
I have to be honest, as much as I want Toney to win, if I was betting with my head I'd go for a Peter SD and would have thought that would be the most popular option.
I voted for Toney by UD though cos I'm a huge fan and can't vote against him!

Me, too, but I do think it is possible for Peter to win by UD or SD. In fact, I'm pretty sure this one will go the distance. I don't see Toney being able to KO Peter, period. As for Peter KO'ing Toney, I don't t think it will happen either. Toney is too cute to get hit with the theoretical "perfect punch" from Big Sam, and if he gets rocked, he's smart enough cover up until he gets his wits back. He won't stupidly trade with Peter. However, if Peter can hurt J-Fat a few times, Toney will slow down his already suspect workrate, and that could spell a Peter victory by a UD/SD. Fear of getting hit could slow him down almost as much as his trips to Burger King.

He hurt Toney in there first fight. 4th or 5th round...can't remember which...but he did hurt him. Clocked his ass hard.
Klitschko doesn't have a glass jaw...that's just silly.
He's been knocked out twice is some 40+ fights...the rest is stamina & he did pretty well against Peter who is without a doubt a KO artist.
Peter by shocking TKO. ;D

There's a difference between phasing someone and actually harming them to the point that it throws off their game. Its not the quantity of ko's that im using as a point, it is the quality. 4 times in two rounds against sanders!? The purity was stamina related as was the brewster one to an extent but i think its been proven that if you can hit him he will go down. It's not complete glass its more like those bs plastic packages that electronic toys come in. They are rather difficult to get inside but once you get scissors for them it doesn't really stand a chance.

Okay...well as quailty goes...Wlad got up from every time he was dropped & never lost consciousness.
Wlad's been hit by some of the heaviest hitters out there...Sanders argueably the heaviest of the 90's big men...I just have never agreed with that glass chin shit because he always got up.
