I hear ya. The STAR fights are crucial. I've dropped two of them so far Urango over Hatton and Adamek over Dawson.

I try to get my picks in early so I'm not influenced by others and sometimes I start to daydream. :)

And If I wouldn't have got the Spinks UD pick as my joker, I wouldn't have got any points. Instead I got 16. And I came REALLY close to picking Dawson UD. I flipflopped more on that fight then I have any other fight in recent memory.

I finished runner-up in the first, runner-up in the second and sixth place in the third comp...although I'd like to point out I was the moral winner on all three occasions. This, of course, is an unequivocal FACT.

The difference between me and you, Pete, my good fellow, is you're working with 85% luck and 15% skill where as I'm working with 100% skill and 0% luck. This, of course, is an unequivocal FACT.

Pete, my good fellow, judging by past form, and due to a shocking degree of misfortune, i'm normally languishing around the foot of the table at this point before I embark on a tremendous late surge....this time i'm positioned perfectly to utterly piss the comp. Fact. Record winning margin is on the cards.

since i'm a head of you now, and you've got the skills, i'd just coast to an easy 20 point lead/first place finish.... hmm.

You guys I really thought I had them this weekend... I really thought that I was going to shoot out the door by calling the obvious ones like Mosley....but also taking some chances with Luzcano so that I could get ahead. You guys may have beaten me this week but I will be back.

I had the proverbial week of two halves this last week. On one hand I scored less than Violent demise, which is bad. But on a positive note Im beating Pete, which is always a good thing.

Lazcano wasn't that far off, if he would have pressed the action more, especially in the 11th and 12th rounds he very well could have won. He showed Vivian Harris can't fight going backwards.

It's a prediction contest. You pick what you think will happen, not what you wish will happen. Week after week of picking every fight to end in a KO/TKO is absurd. Your pissing away points in hopes of hitting the jackpot. When you finally land the big points a large percentage of them are just making up for lost time. I actually think the change from 50 max to 30 max hurts the average player instead of helping them.

Some people go for the big points no matter what. All season long they they will pick such-n-suck KO 5 or so-and-so KO 8. Using that strategy they are bound to hit four or five big point wins for 150 points under the new rules. Sure, under the old rules it would have been 250, but it doesn't matter to the shotgun wielders because they will play that way regardless. Now, a strategic player who finds himself behind during the stretch will have to win twice as many jackpots to overtake the blind luck man whose been on a streak.

I think the point deduction was meant to discourage "scattergun" play and I for one thought it would work. It didn't and may make catching them even harder.

I understand this POV can be easily debated.
