Re: Holding is a foul , which needs to be treated as a foul !
What the fuck is everyones definition of holding?
The way you lot talk its like every fighter out there is a dirty fighter. Is PBF a dirty fighter is he clinches to get himself out of a corner?

Basically it becomes an issue when you grab on to your opponent every single time he's about to throw a punch. This can be seen in a lot of ruiz's fights and somewhat in byrd klitschko 2 except they were semi clinches and not nearly as drawn out as ruiz's.

Holding is going to happen from time to time, just like low blows happen from time to time.. and are forgiven. but when it become a repeated event, actions need to be taken ! .. Mayweather uses his feet to escape as a rule, I don't recall Mayweather as a big holder ?

So its only a foul if you do it every single time your opponent throws a punch? Rubbish, makes no fucking sense at all.

Whats a BIG holder? If he holds its a foul right? Its like calling someone a big ball basher. Low blows happen from time to time but holding happens in almost every fight.

clinches will happen as will inadvertant low blows and rabbit punches but if you're doing it intentionally to wear down your opponent it needs to be stopped.

Re: Holding is a foul , which needs to be treated as a foul !
I'm not saying that someone should be instantly dq'd for 1 clinch

LMAO! HHMm weighs over 320 pounds.....just over 5 feet tall......Are you refering to James Toney!? OH hang on 7 feet tall!!! lol!
Holding at any time is a foul. Period. (I pushed the period button very hard there)
No reason or excuse. I like Jay Nady's program.
The problem in the Peter fight is that he would foul get some verbal warnings then the fight was stopped for a warning....then he'd cut it out for a while.. HE did just enough to avoid a point deduction (not that it would have mattered)
I'm more worried about the behind teh head punching esp with the tall guys like Valuev. If a guy bends down and over he "hides" the front of his head. Does that mean you cant punch him?
Dont forget it says fouls include "but are not limited to"
could come under the not obeying referee part.
But hey! Rule #22 is a foul!! crouching below an opponents belt line!
Toney is below Valuevs belt line when he's standing on his "tippy" toes!

I aint offended, it just seems people say things for the sake of it, then once the look back and see what they actually wrote they decide to try laugh it off.
Who thinks Ricky Hatton is a holder/clincher?

Re: Holding is a foul , which needs to be treated as a foul !
Too much holding and or excessive holding should be treated as a foul.
Now every now and then clinching will happen.
Some of the shit! Ruiz got away with was just insane to see that man abused it....

I think of Ricky as more of a mauler.. reach out there and beat that ass kind of fighter ,, Hatton does smoother his man like Wayne McCullough did , hands are free and he is always in an offensive frame of mind . O0 great exciting fighter Ricky Hatton , the clinch is usually the other man tying up Ricky's arm in orderto stop the beating
.

Re: Holding is a foul , which needs to be treated as a foul !
The ironic thing is this: everyone knows Lennox did it but when he fought Akinwande and Lennox was the one being held, Akinwande was DQed. That's the double standard that leaves us in doubt about the guys we're supposed to call champs. If they gotta hold to win then how good are they really?
