with the name Lennox "the Canadian traitor" Lewis.
Remember Tyson against a quite skilled and good sized Trevor Berbick ?(who I picked to win by the way)
case closed..
I don't know if anyone survives, never mind beats a prime Tyson...
except of course ... NICOLAI VALUEV.
Tyson in 1986-88 would have easily destoyed a lumbering Lewis, if Rahman could flatten Lewis at any time in his career then surely Tyson would have done the same. 2mins topsQuote:

This is pretty poor logic. Larry Holmes was 36 years old and past his prime when he lost to Spinks. Holmes is a great champion, but he wasn't great anymore by the time Spinks beat him.Quote:

I think a prime Holmes would've beaten Tyson just like a prime Lewis would. And this isn't even mentioning a prime Ali, who would've run circles around Tyson.
Well Tucker went 12 rounds with Lewis, and beat Oliver McCall who beat Lewis.
James "Bonecrusher" Smith and Tucker were strictly in safe ,survival mode against Tyson. Anyone will tell you it's almost impossible to KO a guy when he's in a defensive shell.
As for ALI?? ppplleeeeaaassseeeeeee.. If "Plodding & bobbing" Joe Frazier could go 45 rounds with Ali and have a win in 3 close fights
Imagine Mike catching Ali with his left hook....KO! not even close!
It would be a horrible missmatch!
Almost as bad as a beating received by,.. say Vitali Klitschko
if he foolishly tried to fight Nicolai Valuev
Ok, at this point I assume you're just joking with me. But I'll play along... :)Quote:

Second, if you think Tyson had a better left hook than Frazier, you're nuts.
Enough with the ALI excuses!!! Not in his prime etc..
And YES! I think every punch Tyson threw is better than ANY punch Frazier (tried) to throw.
Ali in his peak prime was probably ALMOST as good as Trevor Berbick when he fought Tyson...and look what happened to HIM!
What does Muhammad Ali smell like??? depends..
Now who would win between Tyson and Valuev? This is what we're all dying to know, landmine.

BUT.. I think Big George would...George had REALLY heavy hands and was VERY VERY strong physically with great core strength.George could club with the caveman.
Are there any other heavyweights besides Foreman who could compete with the great Valuev??
Ali? Louis? Butterbean?
yea holmes was about 4 years past his prime when he fought spinks in holmes prime he would of beat tyson imo and berbick had been koed in 1 before tyson fight and plus berbick lost probably every round against holmes if he was lucky he got 2 rounds berbick was never that good plus it doesnt matter if holmes went 15 rounds with spinks twice holmes was past it plus totally different styles holmes was never 1 punch ko artist like tyson nor did he have fear factor on his opponents like tyson did to spinksQuote:

I am neither a Tyson or Lewis fan. I believe that any "Prime Tyson" vs "Prime Whoever" dreamfights have a built-in problem. Who was Prime Tyson? I am not alone in my belief (http://www.maxboxing.com/Groves/Groves0206a07.asp) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cus_D%27Amato) that Tyson was at his best prior to the death of his adoptive father and trainer Cus D'Amato. However Tyson was still steam rolling bums at that time. Hard to know how great someone is at his/her prime when they are only fighting club level competition during that period of time. Cus also died before the
Quick Tillis fight. So those who reference Tillis are making the argument that D'Amato was a non-factor when it came to Tyson's performance in the ring. I'm not making a statement either way. I'm pointing out that I have no idea who would win prime vs prime for this very reason. I think that both were truly exceptional fighters and should go down in the top 20 of all time great HWs.

There's an oxymoron for you!Quote:

you could use the same exscuse for tyson getting beat of buster douglas and tyson said that after that defeat he only ever fought for the money, but i dont think anyone could of done anything with tyson when he was in his prime.Look at when tyson fought bonecrusher, tucker, razzor ruddock, bruno, gilota, holmes, green, tillis, ribalta ect all similar fighters to lewis he,tyson, managed them all quite well weather it went the distance or not and it also showed that tyson in his day was very capable in going 12 rounds and not just crumbbling after 4, eg the tucker fight and the 2nd ruddock fight also berbick was a lewis type fighter obviously not as good and just look at the distruction of him.AWSOME.lewis no chance.Quote:

I heard he knocked Lewis down twice. Anyways, A prime Tyson would knock out any heavy from the pioneer era till today.
Of course this is because prime Tyson lasted 5 months and fighted bums right?
Totally disagree with you...respectfullyQuote:

....in those 2 years between 86-88,tyson was very head strong,he was hungry and eager to show the world he was the best, and IMO i dont think lewis could beat that version of tyson,im not saying it would be easy for tyson, not at all,it would have been the most competitive fight of his life! And i dont know if tyson would ko lewis but i think he would be all over him, chasing him all around the ring for 12 rds with lewis having some good moments but nothing big. SO i dont see an upset for lewis im afraid.....sorry lennox fans
....but ive seen a hell of alot of fights and fighters and the 86-88 tyson is the best HW ive seen since ALI....a lot of you will disagree...oh well.....thats my story cheers! ;D
thing is tyson did always struggle with jab and move types and tall fighters like tucker tillis ect and this was when he was in his prime lewis would have to look for uppercut because tyson gets caught with that punch as he is coming in i see him get caught vs tucker ruddock and holyfield with that punch lewis would have to be on his best night to survive early onslaught if he can he comes back and starts discouraging tyson with jab then he lands uppercut late on a stops tyson fight could go two ways imo tyson early or lewis lateQuote:

Getting back to the sparring... Lewis was on Sky sports talking about it and his claim was it used to get pretty heated his sparing with Tyson and mike used to try and take his head off.... when pushed and asked by the interviewer what he did.
Lewis said i done my Ali impersonation.
yes, granted Tyson was only sparring a teenage Lennox Lewis but they sparred back in 83/84 when Tyson was still a good couple years and about 20/30 lbs away from turning pro himself so its all relative man!Quote:

Out of a three fight trilogy, I say Lewis takes two out of three.Quote:

Tyson wins by UD rocking Lewis once or twice along the way. He had much better defence and was much more busy in his prime.
Tyson by knock out around the 4th or 5th round
Both these guys are all timers IMO .
Tyson in his day was amazing . Never seen a guy with his ferocity or speed before . Never fulfilled that potential but when he was at his best , he was da man and nobody could touch him . I just think technically Lewis had his number thats all . My money would have to be on Lewis if they met prime for prime but it would have been an amazing fight
Why would Lewis have had his number? They met once and Tyson was a long time gone. Still took Lewis an age to close down that shell. Of course, they met as youngsters but that encounter has now merely passed into the realm of myth.Quote:
