Let's not forget ODLH knows the shoulder roll all to well hes practiced it and has applied it in his fights also....
I just know that IF ODLH lands his trademark left hook it's over..... Only Ike has gone the distance after being down from his left hook.

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Dude, that left hook didn't do jack against Pernell or Shane, 2 other fast fighters who came up from smaller weights ala Floyd. People need to stop with this KO crap.

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
People are acting like all Oscar has is a left hook.....well his left hook and everyone focused on staying away from it above all else, leaves them open to the right cross.
The right cross sets up his Left hook as it did with Vargas.
If Floyd gets caught on the ropes, it's all she wrote!!! I expect PBF will run around like a little girl but I dont' think he can take a shot from ODH the way Shane Mosley did, and he'll have to if he's planing on landing anything....Oscar has good handspeed as well

Once he gets caught with one of these. His name will be "Pretty Boy Floored"

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Hillarious.
I aint pointin fingers or calling names...but there are some seriously deluded people posting on this thread right now.
Here's the thing...anyone that thinks Oscar is limited to just one punch needs to back track a bit & rejuvinate their brain cells.
Oscar is a combination puncher & he's also a counter puncher...while he may not be the technical wizard that Hopkins or Mayweather are...he can counter with the best of them & he's got a damned accurate jab.
As far as him not being a puncher...again...rewatch the man's career...he's got plenty of scalps on his record...30 to be exact.
That being said...apparently some people seem to be having the same issues with Floyd's punches & are either in denial or deaf, dumb, & blind to the facts. Floyd has knocked out plenty of fighters in his day. Check the man's record & rewatch his career.
Floyd has stopped 24 or 25 of his opponents & he's done it with power. A knockout or TKO is still a knockout...just because it takes more than one or two shots to do it...that doesn't mean he doesn't have power. He's an accumulative puncher & he's accurate as hell.
-
Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
from my limited knowledge of odlh( limited internet pending) the consensus seems to be that hes a counter puncher, i have no doubt in my mind that floyd can counter oscar with relative ease through pure spped and accuracy. people who say oscar will pressure floyd like castillo did in the 1st fight or tits, i cant say much more than that. ive only got into boxing within the past year...but idf he was soo succesfull would everyone have not gone in with a game plan the same?? either one: they didnt and are muppets...or two:floyd has actually inproved since the first castillo fight and knows how to deal with a pressure fighter??
...if im talking complete crap...i blame whichever of my countrymen created tanqueray...hes a bastard :-X

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Well not everyone has the skill or stamina or CHIN to take it to Floyd the way JLC did.....and even fewer have the power to put Floyd in danger.
Oscar is the perfect storm to upset Floyd's apple cart....Shane Mosley would be my second choice and Miguel Cotto and Winky Wright share my 3rd spot

fair play, but i dont think oscar will have the same stamina that the lil' dude will have...as for chin, ill agree with 99% of the people that floyd wont KO ODLH but im fairly sure floyd will hit him alot n wether its punches hard enough to knock you out or not your gonna feel them! but IMO the first castillo fihgt is irrelevant...floyd won ( wether he did or didnt) came back in the rematch and schooled him, that fight was a long time ago and floyd has improved. the fact that the only negative people seem to have on him is a fight where he may have lost years ago is surely a huge credit to him as a boxer??
-
Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Oscar has stamina at 154, it's where he's at his best.
Floyd won't hurt ODH or much less try to, he'll try to counter ODH and that will be hard to do.
It's a true "pick 'em fight"

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone makes 32 year old hasnt fought any signifigant fight in 4 years as some bionic world beater ::** I love Oscar and think he has the biggest Balls and Heart of anyfighter of this era and is the epitome of everything an old school warrior is about only behind Evander Holyfield. Everyone wants to talk about what Oscar has done.. .Fair enough but his impressive body of work was last etched 4 years ago come this May... That was his last meaningful prime fight for him and anyfight if any... Even the most staunch Oscar fan has to admit he has been Grossly inactive over the last 4 years... a Gifted win against Strum a Ko from Hopkins and a Defeat of Mayorga tells us absolutely 0, zilch, nada if Oscar has what it takes to hang with the #1 Boxer in the world.. If it was the same Oscar that fought Mosely, Vargas, Quartey then I would be sweating and pineing over this fight like I have never before, I am still cautios because he is dangerous but the Great Oscar is not that same Oscar anymore hate to burst your bubbles
But Floyd definetly has the best boxing skills, abilities and argueably the best defense in the biz bar none..... So he all of a sudden is gonna crumble from the Mighty Oscar.... Aint gonna happen and if it does I will eat a big piece of humble pie and wont piss and moan about it since Oscar is a true warrior and gets much respect from me... He might be the Metro Sexual Golden Boy but he is as Ruthless as Ghengus Kahn in the ring ;)

Nice posting :coolclick:
I agree ODLH has been extremely inactive and we have no real idea what he has left in him, wheras we all know what Floyd is going to bring to the table. Power is usually negated by speed, but this fight has the added complication of Floyd being possibly at the limit of how far he can jump in weight. It would be foolish to expect a prime Oscar though, and I think Floyds canny, speed and ability will pull him through one or two shaky moments.
Should be a corker of a fight!

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
I think this will be a close fight with high probabilities of going to the score cards. I see Oscar trying to put some pressure on Floyd since this strategy was effective for Castillo in their first fight, and Oscar will believe that he is stronger than Floyd at 154. I won't be surpised with SD or MD.
Initially I was convinced that Floyd was going to beat Oscar. However, after hearing that Mosley will be helping Oscar in his training, I started to re-evaluate this. Having Mosley as a training partner should help Oscar to raise his level of fighting and increase his opportunities to beat Floyd. Something for sure that Floyd will not have is a sparring partner with Mosley's skills. But, still I expect a very close decision. ^-^

CC,good post. I'm going to be cheering for Oscar that night more than I have cheered for anyone ever before but alllllll the variables are in Floyd's favour apart from size and weight,2 things which have almost always been against him. And Oscar is being made out to be a murderous ppuncher, something he needs to be but is NOT at all at 154. He's a good puncher, but I don't think he is active enough/will land enough to break Floyd down although, honestly,I SOOOOO hope he does!

This is a fairly sensible post. What I think, however, you fail to realize, is that based on exactly what YOU said, all signs point to one outcome; Floyd winning a decision. Oscar has never COME CLOSE to knocking out anyone on Floyd's level, and Floyd also has never come close to stopping anyone of Oscar's ability. I don't think there has ever been a championship fight in the history of boxing that was so clearcut and obvious beforehand that a KO would not happen than this one. Who Floyd has KOd and TKOd in the past doesn't mean sh!t since he's not fighting them now, he's fighting Oscar. And the (extremely one dimensional and limited) fighters Oscar has KOd or TKOd recently mean just as little, because I think we all know Floyd is a different animal. I'll go so far as to say neither one of these guys will even hurt each other the whole night, and by all accounts, the actual fight itself will be somewhat of a dissappointment to most, as you can bet there ain't gonna be a brawl breaking out. And it's funny how people are saying Oscar is just gonna rush Floyd and overpower him, as if it's that easy. Fighting like that against a guy with skill, (who even may not have an ounce of power), will get your ass torn up coming in, especially when the fighter is deadly accurate. Oscar is smart enough to know this, this isn't even gonna be his gameplan. If it were that easy, Floyd would have 4 or 5 losses by now. It's hard to get a good shot in on Floyd just once, and people on this board are saying he's gonna get slaughtered by combos ??? That Floyd is just gonna miraculously get careless for a moment during the biggest fight of his entire life? The fight that he dreamed of even as an amateur in the Olympics in '96? He's trained his whole life for this, and he's gonna do exactly what turned off so many people in the Baldomir fight; fight smart, and stay away. Oscar's way better than Baldomir I know this, but he's not good enough to hunt down and KO the most talented fighter he'll ever fight when that fighter will refuse to give him the opportunity to do so.

Re: IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR FLOYD TO BEAT OSCAR
Believe it or not, I think the negative things being said about both fighters are justified. Oscar and Floyd are both great fighters, two of the greatest of our generation and will be remembered forever in boxing history as Hall of Famers, but this fight only materialized recently, and the fights that caused it to happen were basically overrated victories on both fighters accounts. Both of these guys last wins came against overachievers. Baldomir was just a guy at the right place at the right time. You can't be given an easier opportunity at winning all 3 belts at once that Baldomir had. Anytime someone as suspect and inconsistent as Zab Judah is reigning as an undisputed champion of a division, you know it ain't the glory days. Baldomir's tough and decent, but let's be real, does this guy measure up to other great undisputed champions in boxing history? And with Oscar, Mayorga came to prominence similar to Baldomir. I give him credit for breaking Vernon Forrest, but Forrest simply was stupid for letting his ego take over and deciding to trade with him. Mayorga is merely an average size version of Butterbean. Can anyone speak of one moment where this guy displayed 2 seconds of any fundamental skill? The fact of the matter is one thing remains true, styles make fights. I think Floyd is p4p #1 however he's far from invincible, but I think stylistically, it would take someone like a Hatton or Cotto to beat him, and I'm not even saying they would, but they very well could, and Floyd knows this, which is why he's exstatic that Oscar will share the wealth and give him an exit fight. Oscar does not pressure fighters the way Castillo or Hatton or Cotto do. He has an entirely different style, and his style poses no risk to Floyd. Oscar, on the other hand, also has nothing to lose, as he'll be picking up around $30 million and if he can somehow keep it close and lose competitively, he can spin it as being robbed and save face, as he's done with every loss barring the Hopkins KO, and also add to the fact that he's at the end of his career. Floyd winning and retiring, IMO, would be more disgraceful than getting KO'd in 10 seconds, because Hatton and/or Cotto are the guys that have the style to provide everyone with what they want: a fight with Floyd where he can't run, but is forced to indeed fight. Oscar does not possess the style to do that, and therefore come May 5th he's gonna lose, not because Floyd is greater, but because he's in his prime, hungrier, and stylewise, is unthreatened.

and even in his prime,he could not handle the defence of sweetpea, the speed of Mosley and Floyd is almost equal to those two in the respective categories.
Oh and Floyd has always fought guys bigger and stronger than him,and Oscar has never really roughed up an opponent has he? And that is certainly an aspect he will need to beat Floyd.
So HOW does Oscar win? imo,he doesn't. He's fighting a defensive genius in Floyd and he won't have what it takes to beat him. Oscar can talk all he wants about Floyd's mouth pumping him up but this is not Mayorga or Vargas, and once he gets in the ring and sees how elusive Floyd is,he'll realise.
However,I would love nothing more to see OSCAR KTFO fLOYD but I just don't see it happening. I'll certainly be rooting for Oscar though!
Why dont you like PBF,why is it you want him to lose?
