Fair Play they were the best, they didnt have to. The other guys that were good in there respectable divisions were in their own backyards fighting it out to see who the best truly was  ;)

I don't know where your'e from...but boxing is boxing & you need to look towards America & the other countries where there high profile champs have fought fighters on the same level & have also never left their backyards.

I'm American...& trust me...Hopkins, Jones jr, & Floyd (all my favorites) do the very same thing that Joe does.

Who were they to fight Eubank and Benn?? alright my friend thats 2 major fighters at the time.... compared to other worthy comp in there own Backyard. The scale of talent is tilted heavily toward the US. Same as now Calzaghe has no major or worldclass talent in his own backyard unless some are counting Carl Froch... Thats I'll I'm saying.. Floyd is PFP #1 he has the luxury of fighting in his living room if he so chooses and so did Roy Jones at the time ;)

Europe is a continent and as such has a larger population than the united states, and also the united states is not the second most popolous country in the world, but 3rd, and the first and second are china and india with over a billion people each!

You Sir talk sense i thought it was just me and a few others in the UK who think Calzaghe is a waste of time , i don't need to point out how weak his opponent's have been as you already have :)

Go to the records section on this web homepage and choose any of Calzaghes opponent's and look how poor they have been since they fought him. Its a hoot most ere novice bums and there records prove this thanks for the memories FRANK WARREN YOU TOSSER :)

i agree with both of you.

i think guys like calzagne is ruining the sport they are just robbing our past greats, by reaching there record but completely getting there much easier and on their way to the top they are very protected.

boxing is the ultimate competition sport but most undefeated fighters now a days our cancers to the sport. we have too many of them proving we are lacking great match making.

hopefully more fans realize if a fighter is undefeated it doesn't mean his god.

this is by far the best boxing forum on the net. One of the main reasons people all have their different opinions, the likes of Vd Daxxkahn are very anti calzaghe, but when they post they post selectively and although i don't always agree 99% of the time make references as to why they make such remarks or back them up with certian reasons. You on the other hand must of used half of your posts starting threads or posting comments on about calzaghe without ever once being able to explain just why other than hate.

You made a thread not long ago talking about him being CRAP... even tho you rate reid who, even if you believe beat him, it was a razor thin win. Lacy, brewer, mitchel, Bika, Eubank NONE of them were crap, but by your reasonon, after lossing to calzaghe all by mostly one sided descisions it would make them absolutley fuckign terreble. So when you make remarks like that its the ripple in the pond effect not just the fighter you refer to.

Yet you send me pms or make posts with S*** like "can we be friends" or "why do you pick on me" as if i personally go after you for making posts on calzaghe - when personally i don;t give to fucks who you post on. Its the fact your posts are so absurt and some times just laughable that brings a person to question you as this IS a public forum where posts get questiond or attacked when persons do not agree with you.

Ottke - Got lucky decision's in Germany
Malinga - Ancient, already beaten by Eubank, Jones, Benn etc

But these would have been better fights and they were better fighters than the ones on my bad list at the begining of the topic and they would have done Calzaghes record the power of good

Great question Fenster i think some of the fights could be competetive e.g Vanderpool and Echols but to beat him i would say Reid had the best chance but fighting the fighters on this list would have proven more then no one would question him not even me just don't think he has fought the best on offer

As i say again Ottke was scared to death of Calzaghe and had more gift decisions than i've had hot dinners fact he never wanted Calzaghe and others are mostly average.

clazaghe sucks doesnt impress at all he ll lose to taylor if they fight

Its just a list of fighters i think would have been better fights than most of his defences

But come on if he really wanted to fight JONES / HOPKINS / whoever if he was a world super star then they would have happened by now

Well im no Calzaghe fan infact i've been on his back lately because i've been disappointed with him but Calzaghe was going to fight Hopkins then the day they were going to sign Hopkins wanted alot more money and Jones was at Lightheavy so its hard to make those match ups if you think about it.
