Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
Unfortunately, I don't think Ricky is in the big picture for WW. Honestly, it might make sense for him to fight Witter. At 140, his options are probably Witter or Harris. It's a pretty thin division right now. None of those seem like the kind of superfights Ricky says he wants.
Maybe if Mayweather loses, Ricky would be a good rebound opponent...hmm. :P

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
I don't think Hatton could make any big fight happen at 147 at this point and there is really no reason for any of the 147 title holders to come down to a catch weight.
Two fights for Hatton, that are most likely happen if he beats Castillo are Witter or D-Hop both at 140.

I think there's more chance of him fighting Corrales than Witter or D-hop. Seriously I think might be having his last fight at 140 in June, unless a big name comes down to 140.

Corrales couldn't make weight at 147, and he's on the decline. Sure he's an exciting fighter to watch, and absolutely would be a great fight with a great draw, I just don't see it reallistically happening.

I thought about this. I guess it could happen, but I can't see what Hatton would gain, other than $$, from beating Corrales at this point. Corrales is on a losing streak and most people think he's done. I'm one of the people who really hopes he retires and opens a restaurant (he went to culinary school). If Ricky beats Castillo in a close fight, he'll get a free pass from fans to take a fight against a lesser name if he wants. He can make some nice $$ to shut Witter's mouth and stay at home.
If Hatton were to destroy, I mean destroy, Castillo, he might put himself in a position to fight Mayweather or one of the big name WW's, but I just don't think that is going to happen.

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
One thing though that I find annoying is that Mayweather at the time he was training for Gatti, he claimed he would have faught Kostya Tszyu but waiting out for Hatton was worth more money. In the same interview (well more like floyd sounding off) he says he respects Kostya because he goes to people's hometowns and gets the job done, thats why he wants to fight him so bad. Boy times change huh, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah and Baldozar later and somehow Floyd is fighting Oscar De La Hoya. Thats good marketing folks.

LMao,that is dam true!!
Hatton is in a difficult situation after the JLC fight and its his own fault.Asking Lil Floyd's camp fpr $13million is a ridiculous and ludicrous demand. Unless he is willing to lower that substantially,he wont get to fight Floyd(or Floyd mya just retire after Oscar anyway). A move to 147 to fight Cotto is th best move $$$ wise. He'll lose though ;D His style is not effective at 147,the guys are just too big and strong. Guys like Margarito would annihilate him.

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
a possible fight with mayweather or mosley something like that

Why do people think Antonio Margarito is so good? I really don't get that. Hatton would slap the piss outta him, Cotto would slap the piss outta him, but neither of them two fights will happen when Williams beats him and the guy goes to being nothing. Seriously, who has Margarito beaten to deserve a fight with Mayweather? People say Hatton has failed to impress lately, yet those same people are still raving about Margarito when he struggled against Clottey. It just pisses me off.
Hatton shouldn't bother fighting Witter. He'd beat him and gain nothing. He'd just get criticised for taking an easy fight. It's a pointless fight. He'll end up fighting Corrales I think, and while he's on the downhill, it's still a name taken, and people would pay to see it.

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
People keep saying Hatton should'nt fight Witter he would'nt gain anything if he won end of the day what did he gain from fighting Maussa,Collazo and Urango apart from world titles Witter is better than these and i can't see that he will gain much by fighting Castillo he's a big name but a faded one even boxing world mag said he would have been better off fighting Witter other than Castillo

Hatton wants to become a legend. You only be remembered in this sport for beating names. Witter hasn't beaten anyone and isn't a name. Castillo has. Faded or not, it'd still be a name. I agree that he shouldn't have fought Urango though. I looked at that guy and just thought he would be too big for Ricky to knock down. As it turned out, all he could do was take a punch. Silly fight, but nobody wants to fight Ricky.

Witter wants Ricky and like Urango held a title he could of fought him and a legend how can he do that he's only fought 2 decent names both past it Tyszu and Castillo

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
Hmmmm id much rather see him move up and take the biggest fights. If he loses then like he says at least he lost to the best, rather that then see him fight decent fighters at 140.

I'm not sure about that. If a guy has a body and style that is made for 140, why should he move up to fight bigger men and lose? If he's going to move up in weight, it should be against someone with whom his style matches up well, ie Corrales at 147, and I don't think he gains anything from that.
I wouldn't be surprised see him fight Malignaggi...

No way Margorito annihilates him, Hatton would box his head off imo, if he goes in there in good shape Hatton would come out worst if he went in for a war but Hatton is a much better mover/boxer than Margorito imo he would box him for 12 rounds and win comfortably.

But the people who matter in this fight HBO dont want Witter they wanted Castillo, what evidence is he faded?? A sub standard showing against a guy who anyone would struggle to get up for?? He took Corrales out with a sweet left hook in his last big fight in three rounds, was Corrales stopped by the super middleweight ( on the night) Clotty, Castillo is far from faded and basing that on his shite performance against the last fight which was basically a sparring session to get him some ring time is very naive.
It makes me laugh 12 months ago people were saying i would be very impressed if Hatton fought Castillo, now its " hes figthing a lightweight" " Castillo is passed it " etc etc, it makes me laugh, if he was to fight Witter the same guys would be saying he should of fought Castillo!!!!

Why does he need to destroy anyone when Gatti, Mitchell, Baldomir and Judah have all recently had a shot at Mayweather? Hatton clearly is too small to be a welterweight. His strengths don't stand out like they do at 140. He would have to rely a lot on pure boxing skills and that won't be good enough to get to the top of 147 with the likes of Mosely, Mayweather etc in and around that division. Stick to 140 because you never know, in a year or so it could become a hot division again. In the meantime there's Witter, Torres, Castillo and probably even Corrales which would all be pretty exciting.

Witter would beat Collazo?
I don't even think he would beat Urango.

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
You guys really believe that 7lbs makes that much of a difference? With the correct preparation it should be hardly noticable. It's not like Hatton is stepping up to middleweight. Fighting in a division below your natural weight can have massive consequences, however one above should be minimal. In 4 years Mayweather has gone from 134 to 154. Hatton's only problem with the weight is that he moved up for the first time in nine years with little preparation, not that he is not capable of being a top 3 ww.
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
I would like to see Hatton take on a big man like Margarito at welt. Sort of like seeing Hagler fight Spinks at lightheavy in 1986
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
7lbs is nothing to a man who walks around at 12 or more stone
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
8) Exactly Cotto will be next! But I told you Baby it ain't happening Hatton isn't beating Castillo he will be stopped in that fight and cut up badly apart from the body attack hes going to take you probably wont see Hatton for at least a couple weeks after that fight and Castillo knows where hes going with this fight straight up into Hatton 8)! ! !

Mate Floyd mayweather is a counter puncher who has amazing footwork and hands which enables him to be hit not very often, Hattons style is one of getting under your chin and using his strength, he cant does this against guys like Clottey and Margorito cos theyse guys are boiling down from like 190 lbs, Hatton boils down from about 180 but that is alot of fat these guys are naturally 190lb guys Hatton hasnt got the power to hold these much bigger men off, so he is loosing his main attributes as a boxer when facing these bigger men, where as floyd can neutralize the size differerence with his style.

I dont know about that, if I lost 7 pounds I'd be fucking over the moon lol

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
I think really at his age and the fact he balloons upto 12stone (168lbs) or more between fights Welterweight would suit Hatton better but no matter what weight he fights Mayweather at he does'nt win ever
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
Hatton, will win, points-or late stoppage, i think he should then move back up to welter and take on mosley, then it might show the callazo fight was a bad night at the office, I dont see any point in a fight with gatti, or corrales but think he should take on floyd after he losses to oscar.
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
mayeather aint gonna lose to oscar, not a chance in hell. He was bewilldered by Moselys speed and no aomout of training is gonna make him that much quicker especially at 34. This fight is so over hyped its untrue the only reason it so big is because the heavyweight division is stale and there are very few icons left in the sport so they wanna try and get fans back to the sport. They all know there is a good possibility that this fight will be de la hoya taking a brutal beatdown and thats what people wanna see. I think if PBF and Hatton fought it would be a lot closer than this fight due to the pressure and body punching power hatton brings to the table.

I think a Floyd fight might happen if he does lose but Hatton is just too small for the natural welters out there..........Mosley would batter him for a start. It's a shame the light welter weight division has dried up a bit because everyone wants him to step up beyond his natural fighting weight and get the shit kicked out of him.

Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
I don't see Hatton beating Mayweather or Mosely is best chance of beating another top fighter would be Cotto if Judah does'nt beat him first or if Judah does beat him then a fight Judah would be good for Hatton Hatton would be favourite for that

Mosley is all wrong for Hatton i think Mosley can beat him on the inside and the outside i dont think Hattons team will be looking for that fight unless he gets beat and then offered a good deal of money to fight Shane, Mayweather?? well Floyd would be a big favorite but i think he has a chance much more than against Shane, but id still take floyd to win on points.

Witter would beat Collazo?
I don't even think he would beat Urango.
Haha, I agree. Witter's biggest fan is himself. I'd fancy my chances against him and I don't even work out.

I never understood why it was such a ludicrous demand.
It would be PPV in America and the UK. Both undefeated. America against England. It is a marketing dream. Nice guy vs. Bad guy etc. Not to disimilar to Floyd vs. Oscar. It would make BIG $$$ and what does $13 million dollars translate to? 6.5 million pounds. That isn't a BIG ask for the biggest fight of his career. Floyd is P4P number 1 but Hatton is also in the top ten and the current recognised (ring) champion at 140lb. I just don't see it as a lot of money to ask for. Floyd would probably earn double it
-
Re: If Hattton beats castillo, What next?????
I think if Hatton beats Castillo he will fight Witter at home (& lose)
If he want a big money fight in the States maybe Mosley @ WW or Malinaggi @ Jr. W.
I'd really like to see him in with Mosley
