Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Griffin is having real problem with the pressure of Johnson, he is pushing off each chance he gets and his jab is fairly useless, Johnson is literally walking straight forward. Still, Griffin had a fairly good round by standing his ground a bit and trying to get in and out. Still, Johnson is hitting him at will.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Johnson is landing the jab at will, I don't know why he isn't using it all that much but I think he's just trying to wear Griffin down. This is a good fight though that should come as no surprise to anybody.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
You have to love both of these fighters, always game. But Johnson really needs to jab on the way in a little more, it's landing at will and it stops Griffin in his tracks also I wish he would put that left hook to the body at the end of the right hand. He's done it twice so far and it's worked both times.
-
Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Man I never realized Griffin was such a backfoot boxer. Johnson though, why isn't he throwing the jab? Griffin is not really landing that much but still, the jab moving forward works so well. The workrate always picks up in the last minute.

WTF I HATE AMBER ALERT TESTS >:mad

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
I just missed the entire 6th round thanks to that. Anyways, both fighters look fresh, Johnson is jabbing a lot in the 7th, but it's not a stiff jab like in the first round. Griffi is doing a good job of spacing his punches but Johnson is blocking most everything and his workrate has really picked up.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Johnson hurt him with a left hook to the body and turned it up for a bit upstairs with the right hands and now he just hurt him big with a right hand over the top but he's staying smart and not smothering Griffin. That was Johnson's best round yet. Griffin has a cut over the left eye, and those right hands are landing right on it.
-
Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Johnson is such a good fighter, he looks faster now in the 8th then he did in the first. And as Griffin puts his head down more and more, Johnson is working in the uppercut. Griffin's spent.
-
Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Griffin has just almost totally stopped throwing punches, but Johnson just stays at the same place. Griffin is also fighting with his mouth open in the clinches, that could get him in trouble. Johnson is a nightmare for anybody.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Griffin looks a little better this round in terms of punches but he is getting flatfooted. And Johnson is really turning up the heat. He is turning it up more and more each round, he just might end this thing early. But then he falls back into the same stalking pattern. Griffin is pretty much done at this point. He's falling in a lot, and he just can't get anything going against the pressure of Johnson.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Man Johnson is looking so good in there, its the 11th now and Griffin definately needs a ko. Johnson is just too solid, love his style.
-
Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Griffin is in real trouble and the corner stopped the fight. Damn it. But Johnson turned it on big time. Johnson looked VERY GOOD. That was a good fight. That's the best Johnson has looked since he beat Tarver.

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
That was a awesome display by Johnson, give him Woods pt 4.Griffin got hit with some good body shots.
-
Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
That left hook in the 7th round I think was SOLID. Right square in the stomach and if you look back at that fight you'll probably find Griffin lose all his steam as soon as he got hit with that punch.

That didn't need to be stopped. :'(

Re: Glen Johnson vs Montell Griffin, anyone give Griffin a chance?
Griffin looked slick for the first 4 or 5 rounds. But the pressure got to him and towards the end he was taking a beating. I still was surprised when his corner threw in the towel though.

I'm bitter with Johnson for suddenly picking up the pace. As soon as he came out guns blazing in round 11 a calm little voice in my head started saying...
Prediction Points Meltdown in 60 seconds. Predition Points Meltdown in 59 seconds. :(

Re: Wednesday Night Fights: Johnson - Griffin
Griffin didn't seem to be overly hurt. The fight was a good close fight, right up until his corner threw in the towel.
-
Re: Glen Johnson vs Montell Griffin, anyone give Griffin a chance?
It was a very close fight.

Yep by TKO in the 11th. As far as it bein close up till then, eh, I had Griffin winnin 3 rounds. He wasn't taking a bad beating or nothing though.

Quite surprised he did that well props to Griffin for proving me wrong.

Re: Glen Johnson vs Montell Griffin, anyone give Griffin a chance?
Griffin was game hes very slick defensive guy, but Johnson was relentless, and the bodywork paid off. Griffin was probably dead tired those last few rounds his guard was real low or down.
