Why on earth would Hatton be fighting Pac at 130 pounds? Its not even remotely possible?! ::** :-\
It is possible.
Have you seen Pac-Morales 3? Erik drained himself to go down 130 from 180.
Same thing what will happen with Ricky. He will be weak and uncomfortably slow if he meet Pac @ 130.
If you say Hatton will easily beat Pac @ 140.. I agree!, but Pac will also easily beat Hatton @ 130.
If Erik had serious issues getting to those lower weights as we know he did towards the end then he should have acted a little more wisely.
Its silly to even consider a Hatton: Pac fight at 130 pounds because as I said before It is not even a consideration. Hatton will never fight at 130 pounds or even 135 pounds.
Okay, its not impossible but it is highly improbable....

Most fighters are more successfull moving up in weight division than are moving down.
Agree?

No not at all. Most Fighters have their best performances at lower weight classes, obviously there's exceptions, but PBF, ODLH, Mosley, Tito, Ray Leonard, Duran Ray Robinson and a huuuuuuuuge list of the greats were at their best at lower weight classes.

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
bump. this topic is interesting. I checked out the stats.
Pacq is 5 6 1/2 southpaw with a 67 inch reach
Hatton is 5 6, orthodox with a 65 inch reach
This fight has the potential to be a war. Both fighters move forward and both fighters have power.

It was hard to pick just one person to reply to on this largely idiotic thread but honestly to say that Pacquio would beat Hatton at 130 is just a dumb statement considering Hatton fights 2 weight divisions above.
You know what if Pacquiao fought a prime Ali at 130 lb he would whip his ass too. ::**
Most fighters choose to fight in their natural weight class which means the weight which is most appropriate for their body. Saying that one guy would beat another guy if the first guy emaciated himself to make weight is just a stupid self evident statement. It's like saying Peter McNeely could have beaten Tyson if Tyson had one arm tied behind his back, just a stupid thing to say.
Anyhoo back on topic there is no way Pacquiao could beat Hatton at 140. Pacman may be a half inch taller than Hatton but he has a much smaller frame and started out at 112lbs!
Plus both fighters use their physical size and strength to overcome their opponents. As we saw with Hatton, when moving up to 147 and faced with a naturally bigger man, he couldn't overwhelm him like he could smaller guys and that would be the exact same problem for Pacquiao if he moved up 2 weight classes to fight Ricky.
Ricky would just bully him. He'd be able to out muscle him on the inside and he'd either win a wide UD or knock Manny out.
People talking about Floyd moving up, well it's totally different. Floyd is phenomenally talented boxer who has the ring skills to outbox people and so can move up the weights and fight bigger guys as he's not relying on physical power to beat them.
Pacman relies on physical power, he's a puncher. Against bigger men his punches would have less effect whilst those of his opponents would have more. And Manny has never been hard to hit............

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
Here we go again. Some people judge pacman easily if he will be fighting well known fighters. But look what just happen to those who never believe in him, according to those two old folks commentator from HBO PPV, pac really handle himself well in higher weight class. Its footwork, Righthand punch and power is unbelievable. And one thing he really embarassed almost all high quality boxer. Now HATTON. well here we go again, judge pacman again, like height, ribcage, style come on man.. watch all his fights, he really dominate almost all his latest fights. Have you seen pacman in training? specially when he do situps and throws a bowling ball on his abs? Please think before you post here. Hatton is strong and he should do his best to beat pac. just dont underestimate your opponent or youl be in very big trouble. Cheers to all

Hatton wont underestimate Manny no way on this earth.Plus who would do that to the P4P number1.
-
Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I think Hatton wins by KO.He has good footwork which is over looked alot and is very good at closing the distance and if he get close which i think he will he will stop Pacquiao with body shots, maby land a few early that will slow him down but eventually he stops him with one.
Pacquiao has never been in with a fighter as strong as Hatton that is willing to fight back (ODHA never fought back) and i think that will be the differance seen as its Pacmans first outing at 147.
-
Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I think Pac bit more than he can chew on this one.:p

Sure he looked good against nobodies early in his career, but it's hard to judge him based on those wins.
So when was Hatton's last good performance? Against KT two years ago?
Pac has all the advantage in stamina, imo.
Style match-up, I like Pac in the fight too.
The kind of guys who'll give Manny troubles are slicker guys who have better head and torso movement than Hatton.
Hatton needs a target who'll stand right in front of him.
Pac's awkward Tyson-style bobbing and weaving gives Hatton trouble all night.
I think Hatton gets worked by Pac.
Pac by KO.
I am not a Hatton fan, let's establish that before anything. But if you think Pac is not to small for Hatton then you must be a resident of one of those countries that legalized Marijuana. Also one of those two fights you talk about was at 147 and did not feel comfortable at his weight, maybe since then he has grown into it, you never know. It's funny that in your post you were able to point out so many great things about Pac and not one about Hatton who is an undefeated world champion. I smell Bias.
Didn't Pac weigh 147 in the ring in one of his last 2 fights? Plus he's got a height and reach advantage over Hatton. I understand Hatton has fought at a higher weight class, but that doesn't make him bigger. I think you'd be very surprised if they got in the ring together, and that Pac would actually be bigger.
they are both the same size! they are both around 5'6. difference is, manny will weigh around 148 come foght time and hatton will be more like 152.
-
Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
Hatton will be an 8 round punching bag. This fight will be beautiful with great back and forth action, but Pac has shown tremendous growth, physically and mentally.

The size depends on the training. Hatton can easily bulk up but I don't think he carries the weight power with him. He natural fighter at 140.
With these two it comes down to who backs down in the fight. If Hatton connects with good shots and can back Pacquiao up. Pacquiao's in trouble. If Pacquiao lands shots to Hatton, and Hatton can't get inside, Hatton's in trouble. The fight comes down to the man with the most heart wins.
We will just have to see if Mayweather Sr. is stupid enough to try and make a flat foot like Hatton a dancer. Not that it's bad to have foot skills, it's just not the Hatton way to get it done) I do hope he does because Pacquiao will take Hatton apart and the OK is by the 10th. Else Hatton abandons the Mayweather Sr. Plan and starts mauling Pacquiao.
152 is too heavy for Hatton and he'll slow down by the 7th round. 148-150 is a better weight for him because Pacquiao will be about 146-148.

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
For some weird reason I had a dream last night about this fight, which is weird because I havn't even really been thinking about it.. If it was on my mind all the time then maybe..
Anyway, I was Pac and it was like rounds 4 or 5 and I was realizing that I wasn't hurting this Hattoon man in front of me much, and my body was hurting.. So I was trying to land a good one to the head again, and I got ripped with an enormous body shot on my left side right under the ribs that dropped me...
Except I wasn't southpaw and it was a big right hand hook/uppercut to the body that knocked me down, so it didn't entirely make sense...
I just think unless one of these fighters stops the other early, there is no reason this couldn't be fight of the year.. Whether it's a war or not, i'll be a huge matchup with 2 fighters who have been in the game a long time, and fighting another of the biggest fights of their lives.. Two guys that don't like to back off an inch...

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I was watching Erik morales Vs. Manny Pacquiao I yesterday and noticed Morales did some vicious work to Manny's body, I think that slowed Manny down quite a bit, on every shot morales gave him stopped him in his tracks.
Hatton beign a great body puncher as was Morales I got him by KO or TKO.
(Chanting Hatton song) GOOOOOOOOOOO Ricky Hatton! GOOOOOOOO Ricky Hatton!;D:cool:

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I have to go with Pacquiao by KO....He has the pace of Hatton...In fact a faster pace because Manny can keep at it with no hit hold crap....I do not see a strength problem because Pacquiao showed he can carry power above 140...Lastly Pacquiao moves around a lot more then Hatton throws shots at more angles....
TBH the combo of Hatton and Mayweather could not come up with a better strategy then Pacquiao/Roach..
It all will boil own to the best fighter in the world P4P against the best fighter in a division

I disagree with the 152 is to heavy for hatton! he weighed 152 against malignaggi and that is around his usual fight weight. he didnt look slow against malignaggi.

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I think many people are taking the ODLH fight into consideration.
Oscar was SEVERELY weight drained. Heck he hasn't fought at that weight for 7 years and was 35 yrs old. Even little Stevie Forbes busted Oscar's face up a few months beforehand.
Ricky Hatton is completely different. Pac has NEVER faced pressure like Hatton will put him under. Malignaggi thought he could handle it. Hell loads on here were saying Malignaggi would beat Hatton because he's fast and slick. And look what happened. He got dominated and he crumbled.
Hatton will box smartly. Floyd Sr is going to get him great for this match. Hatton will also use his jab and go to the body. A weakness of Pac's.
Hatton's going to win...just you doubters watch!

I would typically agree, but I read a quote from Hatton that 6 lbs to rehydrate is his optimum target. But that would put him at 146/147 and I'm sure Pacquiao won't go any lighter than that. That said, I don't think Hatton will risk the size disadvantage so I think he'll pack a little more. but not so much that he risks any weakening from the dehydration which affects his stamina. You got to look at Malignaggi inability to hit Hatton with anything to affect Hatton and you know that ain't going to be the case with Pacquiao. It's just too much strain on the body using extremes to make weight by going more than 10 lbs in the 140 weight class. Especially against Pacquiao.
These guys at this elevated level of competition know the risks and advantages they gain from it. If Hatton comes is 152 for sure Pacquiao is going to take him out in the late rounds.

Hatton will be on Manny's chest from the 1st bell, Hatton closes the distance probably better than anyone, and is very quick, he will rough pac up hit every part of his body and just plain bust him up...

I think that's true, apart from Hatton has a bit of trouble closing the distance as well on fast, sharp, straight punchers.. He is going to need to slip in better than he has against anyone or he'll have a hard left in his face and Manny out to his side before he has a chance.... If he can't get his face out the way on the way in, he'll need to take a lot to close that distance consistantly enough for it to really start overcoming Pac...
If he shows that skill then it will be one of the best Hattons we've seen and will deserve every ounce of respect for freshening himself enough to get around many of Pac's strengths.....

Re: Wait a minute...hmmm...Pacquiao vs Hatton @ 140...who ya got?
I really think at 140 Hatton is nearl unbeatable. Pacquiao is a freak, and a great fighter no doubt, but IMO, he lost both times to Juan Manuel Marquez. I also think the fight against DeLaHoya really only once again proves the adage that when a fighter talks about retiring, he already, in effect has.
I think Hatton wears him down in a classic brawl and finishes him in the later rounds.
Hatton, TKO9

For me pac stops hatton,
If hatton manages to box and get his shots off as cleanly as he did against paulie its an interesting fight and competitive, if he is hatton of old its a brutal white wash..
But lets not forget Malignaggi didnt let his hands go, he wouldnt throw more then two at anytime, which is paulies whole game.. you can look very good when you remain composed and unhit, paulie put three and four etc together once to my recollection in the entire fight and put Ricky off balance with it.
If anything Pac will be the true test of hattons newly re found sharpness cause pac is as fit as can be and pac doesnt let people dictate.. he doesnt like to get hit, and when he does get hit his style always seems to be that he answers back hard and fast, that with his recent improvement in defense, footwork and general ellusiveness, his natural footspeed bodes well for him to counter well when he answers hattons punches.
And plus, hate if you will but i dont think highly of hattons chin, i think hes going to get stopped mid to late.
But im looking for a classicly fast paced, entertaining fight.. with the difference in this fight and what makes it so entertaining bieng the footspeed,i think Pac has the edge on hand and footspeed but i admit hatton carries both bigtime as well, when he is in tip top shape, i.e in the early wbu title defenses (stewart, tackie, olivera, phillips, mcgee etc) he had before he seemed to step up and held/hugged stayed put alot more.. but the earlier fights had the stepping in and out, head movement, begin with slips, alot of jab work and stepping round to find the shots.. as we saw in part when he was full of energy in the opening round vs mayweather.
If they both go hard and are fit then it could be very entertaining.

The current PACQUAIO KO/TKO's Hatton in less than 10 rounds.
Pac of old will just stalk you and try to knock you out. Hatton may beat that pac but not the current one.
PAC's speedy footwork would bring so much trouble for Hatton he wont be there to be hit. Pac will land 4 to 6 hits combo then move backwards. land 3 to 5 power bombs then move to the right side. I really dont think Hatton will see the 12th
The Lead straight Left will also be a big factor, this will rattle Hatton's offensive rhythm.

Also it had come to me that we should think about Hatton vs Mcgee, Collazo, urango.. Ricky isnt in love with southpaws exactly..

I just wanna see the fight happen! I, too, think Ricky is unbeaten as a LWW. So Pac will be a slight underdog as the fight time closes in. I love this. BOTH are in their prime.
And I don't agree that Hatton has looked bad since Tszyu. With his physique, he was never meant to have easy fights. He's a volume puncher, with strong legs, short arms, good footwork and great stamina.
This means he is going to get his opponents down the stretch. Everyone he faces is gonna get some decent shots off on him.

The current odds are 2:1 Pacquiao, so you can be sure that unless there is some real stupid stuff coming out of the camps the fight should by pretty close to even on odds at fight time. DLH started out as a 4:1 and by fight time it was closer to 2:1.
Calzaghe is a volume puncher..... however Hatton does throw more power punches than jabs.
