PBF whould be aware that fans has the ultimate authority of who and who's not worthy to fight you. if pbf lets the fans decide whom he'll fight next then he gets more respect from that. it eliminates doubters one by one and by showing you aren't choosy and willing to fight everyone. You raise the bar of respect even higher. so what should mayweather do after he got that very big paycheck from ODLH fight?.. He should try to win and follow the fan's heart..
Good post and I completely agree.
But that's not where the debate is.
The debate is over whether Margarito actually is threatening his greatness or not.
What I truly believe is that the majority of the fans don't think Tony deserves a fight with Floyd at this point.
Those who feel Tony deserves it are just more vocal about it. And it's understandable why.
And if anyone suggests that Floyd should fight anyone who challenges him, that's insane.
Who's to say Margarito deserves a shot more than this guy or that guy. What has he done to earn it?
You can't do nothing, then call out the number 1 p4p fighter and when he turns you down assume he's ducking you.
No, you need to earn it.
So the debate rages on regarding who deserves a shot and who doesn't.
And I say Tony, not just yet.

Meowza, this is the most rational post I've seen on this forum and you hit the nail on the head :coolclick:. I'm getting sick of seeing people say that Margo deserves this...and how clear it is he's being ducked. Other than Floyd, what big fights has HE actually looked for?
Re: What should Mayweather do?
I don't think I've ever discredited Floyd's list of casualties. Floyds done an enourmous job and deserves to be at the top of the pfp rankings right now. But the way he talks about himself, you'd think boxing couldn't live without him and it can. Don't sit in front of the camera tell me that you don't duck anyone when you do. Don't tell me you have nothing left to prove when the ww division is literally full of superstars...some of which who are unbeaten. Don't retire when you could make history. Fight a superstar in his prime while you're at the top. (He actually did that earlier in his career with Corrales and Castillo). This a guy who does have the potential to be one of the 10 greatest fighters of all time. And he could very well do it with an unbeaten record. As boxing fans, we rarely get to see two fighters at the height of their greatness, in the prime of their careers, step in the ring together. It's almost always after one of them is past their prime that the fight finally gets made. Floyd has a chance to take boxings popularity to another level...even the level past the one set when he fought De La Hoya. I don't care if Floyd fights shane or wants to take a year off or what. But I want to see him fight the winner of that ww tournament, and I don't think anyone would disagree with me that he should. Whoever comes out of that (except for Zab) has earned their shot at him. That alone could cement him as one of the best all time in my book.
Re: What should Mayweather do?
Ive gone with stay retired although i would love him to fight on beat Cotto and Mosely and unifie 147 i really like Mayweather
Re: What should Mayweather do?
What should Mayweather do? I gotta go with "Make up his mind."
Re: What should Mayweather do?
He is 38-0 he is a 5 weight champ 5 WBC 1 IBF a 6 time world champ he has fought some really good names should he fight on and achieve more or retire unbeaten i don't know most fighters can only dream of achieving what he has im just left wanting more but perhaps it is a perfect time to go at the top of his game not damaged from the sport of hard knocks
Re: What should Mayweather do?
I think PBF wants to retire a winner.
I got no problem with that.
But with his big gambling habit, I'm 99% sure that he will be back in the PPV main event.
Re: What should Mayweather do?
It depends how good you think he is...
If he really is as great as he thinks he is (don't forget he called Winky out) and Wright beats Hopkins then that is definitely the biggest/hardest fight for him as far as legacy goes.
As it stands at the moment the hardest test with most marketability would be Mosley. They are both WBC Welterweight Champs and Shane has two wins over Oscar at 147 & 154, easy sell.
The next biggest fight right now would be Hatton, he has a massive fan base and being the lineal champion at 140 and an undefeated 2 division champion a win over him would look great on your resume, especially when he took the belt from Kostya Tszyu!
If Cotto destroys Judah then you could put his name up along side Mosley's if he wins a close decision then I'd place him with Hatton.
There really is no other names big enough out there. oh... wait... hold the phone!!
If Spinks upsets Taylor then you have the perfect opponent, former Undisputed Welterweight Champion and current Undisputed Middleweight Champion. He would by no means be the hardest opponent but he would hold the WBC Middleweight Belt. :o
Re: What should Mayweather do?
i would like to see him fight mosley, hatton, margarito, cotto. then possibly fight wright at 154 or go up to 160 and fight taylor
