I believe after watching Cinderella man. James. J . Braddock.
Than as a fighter in the ring..........Ray Robinson.
For the Future of this sport .....Kelly Pavlik. He is humble and has a right hand that could move a truck.
Yeah but movies don't always give the whole story.Quote:

As stated in Ali's bio, Jerry Quarry once refused to to have a colored ringside physisian for his fight with Ali
That doesn't sound like to much respect !!
I would say up and comer.......I like Alfonso Gomez and Pavlik. Current I would say Oscar. All hell I dont know.
I like class and being humble. Alot of boxers never read Milton's Parides lost.
Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Vengance or wrath, Lust, Sloth,Pride. Or as originally put in the latin
Avaritia(greed) Gula (gluttony) Invadia (envy) Ira (wrath) Acedia (sloth) Superbia (pride)
I like seeing the seven holy virtues insted of the deadly ones. I like kindness , humility and stuff like that in poeple in steed of a horses ass who refers to him self in third person.
Glen "Gentleman" Johnson, Paquiao is pretty humble for being such a superstar, theres alot of classy guys in boxing and sadly they go unnoticed because the loudmouths get all the media attention. I had Taylor in there, but lately with all the money talk, he's comming off as puppet that will do anything if the price is right.Pavlik and Gomez are class acts, Alfonso was very gracious after "schooling" Gatti.Wlad is pretty decent guy, at least he comes off that way in interviews.
Guys you don't often hear talking shit despite it being thrown are who I'd label as classy are guys like Pacquiao, Oscar, Cotto, Winky, Mosley, Hatton, Pavlik and Jeff Lacy just to name a few, they all seem to come of really well in their interviews both post and pre-fight. Especially Winky, the way he just walked out after the Taylor fight rather than getting on the mic spoke louder volumes than any post-fight rant I've ever heard. Barrera is all class, minus the exception of the very ugly Morales incidents, but the altercations with Morales just added to why I love Barrera so much.
I'd hardly call walking out of an arena because you disagree with the decision a class act, Winky always comes across as a whiny sore loser to me, he still even goes on about the Vargas fight.Quote:

Topic Merged. 8)
All time I would say James J Braddock or Rocky Balboa just kiding
Floyd Patterson always talked like a gentleman, at least everytime i saw him interviewed.
There are a heap of nice guys that have graced the ring as can be seen by this topic. One memory that always comes to mind is Thomas Hearns after his draw in the rematch with Leonard. Most thought Hearns had won but he wasn't to upset with the decision of a draw, he was all class!!! Everything he said was very respectful to Leonard & showed great sportsmanship!
Zab Judah :toff:
You know what he was pretty classy this last fight, you gotta give him his props. He didnt hit any refs.
Cotto
Steve Forbes
Shane Mosley
Floyd Mayweather (at times)...that is if you thing "[boxer's name] is a hell of a fighter" as class
Yea Hearns wasn't much of a talker, but a very respectful guy from everything I've seen of him.. I think in his rematch with Leonard he really didn't need to whine about it though, just the little smile on his face while paying respect to Leonard was perfect, everyone who saw it knew Ray didn't win that fight. A lot of the time when a fighter whines and whines about a decision they're trying to convince themselves moreso than anyone else, imo.Quote:

That's like listing Mayorga and saying (Well he did apologize to ODLH after the fight in regards to the things he said)
Tony Danza!
James Toney ;D
Most respected boxer/ Most respectful/ Classiest - 3 different things: Of recent times, Mike Tyson and Ricardo Mayorga were respected but disrespectful in the true sense of the word, Evander Holyfield, Vitaly and Wladimir Klitschko are both respectful and respected, Shane Mosley is more respectful than respected, Floyd Mayweather is more respected than respectful, James Toney and Zab Judah are respected but are not disrespectful either ( just lovable, funny characters)... Being classy has nothing to do with respect(ful)(ed), I find Michael Spinks unorthodox style classy, Mike McCallum was not called the Professor for nothing and Donald Curry was very classy too but if I was to find those three names of all times in what class is concerned, definitely Ezzard Charles, Sugar Ray Robinson and Henry Amstrong!
Mayorga Hopkins ;D ;D ;D
Dela Hoya is and has always been Classy and Respectfull.
Apart from the time he refered to Floyd Mayweather as a Chiuaua! That was uncalled for ::**
rocky marciano. joe louis, holyfield
Alfonzo Gomez
you better be joking with Tito, yea he was graceful in defeat, but his pre fight talk and his bs "yo soy humilde pero gane" (which literally translates to i'm humble but i won), sorry but he's not one of the most gracious guys in the sportQuote:

Chazz "The Gentleman" Witherspoon. His nickname is the Gentlemen, and he is one of the most educated and respectable people in the sport. Dude's got a Bachelors from St. Joe's, and is a true gentleman in and out of the ring. Hands down the winner in this category. Check him out on ESPN2 July 27th.
Can't wait to see a full fight of his. I've only had the chance to see highlights of him.Quote:

There are many class acts. One of them is Mosely. He is a solid guy.
I know that it's off of the thread subject. But one of, if not the most disrespectful of alltime has to be Tyson. He wanted to eat Lennox's children, stomp on ur children's testicles, f**k the reporter in his a** & make him his bi**h, fornicate with the woman reporter if she wanted to interview him, and the list goes on & on & on.....
Chirs Byrd
Oscar De la Hoya
