im thinking more and more JLC
Well you guys all know I ain't looking forward to this fight much at all. For me the big fight of the night will be Krazy Horse Charles Bennet rematch of Joe Boxer on Elite XC.
Still I'd best give an opinion just so I can have the satisfaction of posting my smug face ^-^ on the forums the next day.
It won't be anywhere a classic fight. It will be relatively competitive but Castillo's hunger just won't really be there. Hatton will win most of the early rounds, will look like he's fading slightly around the 7th and 8th but Castillo won't up his tempo at all.
By round 10 Castillo will have basically conceded defeat and although he'll hang in there until the finish he won't make much of an effort to press a tired Ricky Hatton.
Judges will announce the winner as Hatton by UD 116-112 117-111 117-111.
Afterwards Castillo will say he's been in too many wars and may now retire.
Hatton will apologise to the fans for the lack of action, explain that the important thing was getting the win and then reiterate his desire to fight Floyd Mayweather, at 140 lbs of course.
This will not happen however, instead he'll be lined up to fight Ricardo Torres either just before Christmas or January next year, unless Torres loses his next fight which to be honest is entirely likely.

Due to the the amount of request from new member we have decided to eliminate the minimum post needed and the contest is open to everyone
OK Form members as we all know I just like everyone else around here love nothing more then to come on these boards and trash talk on what I do/do not like about the sport of boxing today. I mean hey I was a fan long before a writer right? So what better place to go as a fan and spill my gusto then Saddo's Boxing Form!!!
Over time I have seen some really good opinions and valid counter points (trash talk aside) on what is hurting the sport of boxing. I have read some really good opinions on what is improving the sport. I have read some dead on predictions on who is the next big thing and who is the next biggest fraud. What makes a fighter great and what makes great fights.
So after mulling it over I have decided to hold a ONE TIME contest and allow one of you knowledgeable dedicated members the chance to have your opinion read by the world!!!! By submitting an article of your own on one of the three topics outlined below. The winner will have his article run as the lead story on the front page. Then engage in a point counter point joint article with me on the topic of their choosing. Here are the outlined criteria for the contest and subjects to choose from.
1-Should boxing do away with the Super and Junior divisions (EG Junior/Light Welterweight).
2-Should Champions be mandated to defend their titles a minimum amount of times per year or be stripped unless medically injured (EG Broken hand ect)
3-Should all sanctioning bodies be forced to follow the same criteria (EG rankings system/mandatories/)
The deadline is 06/23/07
Remember there is a diffrence between posting on the board and having an article on the front page so you can not be one sided or state stuff like "Well this organization screwed my favorite guy Brawling John Smith so unless they do him right they should be shut down" No Profanity or abbreviations of it "S***" ect.
All articles musst have accurate information EG- if you mention a fighter and his record you must have the exact record as recorded in boxrec or if you use a date it has to be exact EG June 1st means June 1st not sometime in June. Most of All Spellcheck is your friend...... ;)
Anyone interested in participating can submit the article to me at daxxkhan@gmail.com
The Winner will be choosen by the Editorial Staff and the name of the winner will be posted on June 28th. The article will run on July 1st 2007.
So let's see what you Boys/Ladies got to offer.
Best of luck to all that enter and I look foward to seeing what our most loyal members have to offer when it come's to down to the "Genuine Article!!"
:coolclick: I reckon this is a great idea this contest. I've just sent my entry in and I've got new found repect for ya mate, not easy to formalize when your talking about boxing and your own opinions.

Only kidding. I'd love to write something but to be honest I'm too lazy and I'm not sure I could maintain a sense of unbiased professionalism.
I'm a buffoon you see.
Maybe TysonBruno can suprise us all by putting together a really articulate thought provoking piece :D
I think Tysonbruno should be allowed to submit a totally unbiased piece on the career of Joe Calzaghe. I'd love to see if he could write more than 50 words without slagging him. haha.

Just out of curiosity, what happens to the many articles that don't win ???

Im going for Hatton UD or SD 12 but would like Castillo KO he's getting it rough at the minute.
i take it by that post preme. ur 50-50 as well
its ever changing - im 100% sure castillo is shot, so at first i thought it would be a shit borring 12 ud for hatton... not isee the pics i think hatton will tko him in 5Quote:

I'm thinking of forming my opinion immediately after the fight. :-\Quote:

They are both die-hard warriors. If JLC isn't old and past it, and if Hatton doesn't "clench" too much (where's that Cotton ref when you need him?) then it's going to be one heck of a fight.
Viewable on Sopcast, anyone know? I got no HBO ...
Honestly...I'm starting to lean toward Castillo...not sure why...but I just think that he's talkin some serious smack.Quote:

I tend to agree with ya, Castillo's gonna put Hatton in a position he's never been in before. And I don't think Hatton will be able to stand up to Castillo's assault! Castillo will end it late!!!Quote:

I would love to see Hatton get bulled & mauled as he has so many of the 3rd & 4th tier no hopers & journeymen that he has emboldened his record with.
Alright...that's it...I can't change my vote...but you two have swayed my prediction. That was pretty easy, right?Quote:

Heh heh heh heh. Gotdam that was guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh-ross!
Anywho, all gut checks aside...I say that Castillo is going to surprise eveyrone with his inside game. I think Castillo's just going to be physically stronger...even though he's movin up. Those uppercuts & blistering left hooks that go up & down like a jack hammer are gonna shock the fwock outta Hatton.
I could be wrong...but...well...the anticipations killin me.
i don't see why so many are so high on hatton. he's like a bull in a china shop. i don't see him winning. i feel castillo will box him and make hatton pay , for every hatton bull rush. don't be surprised if this is an easy fight for castillo. making hatton look like a dope.
Castillo will beat Hatton, he looks in great shape and not drained like Hatton did at the weigh in.I will say Castillo by split decision.
Sorry about this guys n gals but as you no my ability to be impartial and objective usually flies out the window a day or so before the fight....Ricky's high pace, volume and variation of punches should stiffle Castillo's slight edge in power.....I see Hatton Circling anti-clockwise a lot to avoid the left hook to the body from Castillo, possibly utilising the jab more than in recent fights....Alternatively Ricky could benefit from an almost mike tyson like straight bee-line toward Castillo, defending using mostly evasion, setting up his quick hook/uppercut combos......Let's go Hatton~!!!!!
I think JLC will have his moments during the fight. I just don't think he will be able to sustain it. I also don't think he has the power to hurt Hatton. I shall be rooting for JLC though, especially after all the nonsense regarding his pay!
It's a real PICK EM this one and could go either way.
Still going for Hatton tko 11th but JLC has to tools to put him on his a**.
Castillo has fought ONCE in TWO years and that is a massive factor ;)
i'm sayin Hatton in 7 or 8 (if he doesnt hug all night)
I agree that Castillo has the tools to hurt Hatton but i think Hatton gonna get it
Castillo has awsome body attack
but so does Hatton just want him to get that kinda fighting back for this fight
Castillo has said he'll fight toe to toe with Hatton and thats the type of fight i wanna see
Castillo doesnt have it easy making the weight eitherQuote:

We'd all like to see him bully Castillo and make it a brawl , but if he cant do that he has a boxing brain to fall back on . Castillo hasnt and Ricky will run away with it on points .
Energy Fighter Hatton tries to surprise non-intimidated Castillo with his petrol-motion, volleys of punches and quick feet and body feints early on. Weight drained JLC tries to sap Ricky's energy grabbing, going down at the clinch, holding and nailing Ricky on the blind side of the ref instead of landing well timed counters and jabbing the way Ricky comes in... Castillo gets over-confident on his own conditioning and experience to overcome Hatton later so does absolutely nothing until the mid stage - suddenly Castillo fights back hard and lands heavy shots, big guns and well placed combos during one round and a half from the 6th on and to turn it around but finds himself depleted and running desperately out of steam - Hatton puts on a 2nd win and a 2nd gear, drives JL to the ropes and pounds him with eye-catching blows and meaty body attacks as JL leans back on the ropes and the ref saves him from further punishment somewhere in the 9th, no knockdowns, plenty of low blows and points deductions, complaints and controversy on the stoppage...
lol CC that is definately a possibility.Quote:

Dat is if Ricky doesn't take the Gladiator stuff 4 real and simply tries to steamroll JLC out of the ring and clashes heads brutally with him as both bully and dirty fighter move against each other head first - that would be a no contest, bloody heads and plenty of stitches and boos echoing across LV. They are about to collide anyway so why did they build this as "Gladiators" :o? Helmets should have been allowed...
Thats a point i was mulling over n nobody had mentioned really...
I'm afraid that should a clash of heads occur it's Ricky thats comin out the worse....
I'll stick with my prediction. Hatton is the constant factor here. He always comes prepared, and he seems to have little or no issues outside the ring. Castillo is a total unknown to this point. Will it be the awesome Castillo who went toe-to-toe with Corrales for 10 wonderful rounds? Or will it be the mediocre Castillo from his last fight? Will Castillo be distracted by his money problems? Is Castillo shot from so many wars? Will his 33 years weigh on him all of a sudden? Will he be drained from making the weight?
Too many unknowns for me. I'm not a total fan of either, but respect both of them. I'll be rooting for Castillo, but would bet my money on Hatton by stoppage around Round 8-10.
Totally realistic observation, planna. Too many questions either in or out of the ring for the Mexican. If Castillo didn't let those weight on him and thus affect the outcome of this, he would be either mad or desperate... Nothing gives me that indication, he saved ( and disqualified) his brother Ricardo from getting beaten by Caballero in Hollywood, Florida, that, the fact that his own son was at the weigh-in now, everything leads me to say he'll know how to say "No Mas"... But that has nothing to do with Ricky Hatton being the right man at the right time, oh no, Hatton is short, he is sharp but too tight to move and slide, he's pretty much one dimensional and will sweat to live another day and earn another big pay-day... Cotto Hatton is the brawl that gat to happen, rooting all the way for Hatton here, just for that reason...Quote:

CC for the last sentence.
