Once against Veit who he had already blown out in 1 round and against Will McIntyre both of these fights had no risk involved.

Both, as Ice Cold points out, against tomato cans--and his one fight in Copenhagen wasn't even against a Dane (or a European at all, for that matter). If you see that as precedent for him leaving the UK to fight Kessler in Denmark--on the heels of Palle saying repeatedly that they'd come to the UK for the fight anyway--be my guest.

Do you really not think it's at all relevant who he went to fight? Do you really think going to Copenhagen to fight non-contender American is the same as going to Copenhagen to fight a Danish co-champion?
On your American home-town point, I think you're quite off there as well. Calzaghe has the full support of the UK in his fights. America is MUCH larger than the UK, and there are far more Americans than any other nationality competing at the top of most divisions. So for American fighters, "hometown" often literally means "hometown" (i.e, not "home country"). Floyd was facing just as hostile a crowd fighting Gatti in Atlantic City, NJ as Calzaghe would face fighting Kessler in Copenhagen.

Unfortunately I believe this will be the case. I read Calzaghe's autobiography this week and it appears his problems with his hands go further than what most people might think. When all is said and done Calzaghe is a far better fighter/boxer than Kessler and I hope for all our sakes it's proved without complication. No offence to Kessler fans but he's just a supped up version of Mario Veit in my opinion - Tailor-made for Calzaghe.

Kesslers movement is grade A and he will take Calzaghe to a place he has never been before,with straight, fast lead rights and punching accuracy. I really see something special in Kessler he just seems to have it all and if anyone can bring it out of him and push him it willl be Joe Calzaghe

Trust me...if an Irishman was to fight an englishman in London, there would be plenty of Irish and ex pat Irish there cause there are hundreds of thousands of Irish people in London, or those who consider themselves Irish because of their family. But to counter your argument a little, I'm willing to bet my left testicle that a domestic flight between Seattle and Tampa is a fraction of the cost of a flight from London to Warsaw, thanks to your government's flagrant attitude to the environment. Indeed, a quick online check found a return from Tampa to Seattle at $75, or about £32. The cheapest return between London and Warsaw is around £110, so the expense of following your fighter is much greater in Europe than the states, thus adding to the disparity in support for hometown/country fighters in Europe.

At least flights between UK and Copenhagen are relatively cheap. Should be no more than 50-60£ including taxes from London to Copenhagen, and perhaps even less if you are a bit flexible (I flew Copenhagen-Gatwick in February for about 35£ return including taxes). Actually I'd say that the cost of flying is likely to be less than the ticket for the match, and if you use public transportation it could very well be less than the journey to and from the airport.
However Copenhagen is a great city, well worth of a visit even without boxing. Add to that the biggest non-heavyweight fight in Europe for God know's how long, and there really is no excuse of not going...

Sorry guys...this is kind of an in-joke with me and JT Rock, cause we were talking on Messenger last night about how many days holiday our employers give us, cause i get 26 days paid holiday per year, and they get a whole lot less than that in the states. Even if there are loads of days where it is traditional to eat vast quantities of roasted meat.

$75 for that flight is shockingly low. Typical round-trip flights all the way across the country like that are in the $500 range. But I completely agree regarding the Bush administration's woeful environmental "policy" (yesterday's proposed "aspirational" limits notwithstanding).
