Richie Woodhall, Nicky Piper, Billy Hardy and don't forget the big girl from Scotland Scott Harrison, a man with no talent at all boxing is all the more better for having that Jail bait out of it, biggets cry baby in the sport.
Michael Brodie again like above no talent, along with Steve Foster, Henry Warton, Dave Starie the list is endless really, the biggest fraud of the all has to Johnny the Bottler Nelson, and now he is on the telly as an expert I like to see Glen McCory smack the shit out of him, some of his comments make you cringe.

I'd say the two to be picked out from that list has to be Audley Harrison and Naseem Hamed. British fans only tolerate a big ego when the achievements back them up. Naseem looked to be pretty good, verging on world class as he developed into his career, but when he came up against Barrera his lack of heart and a chin were exposed. As for Harrison, his ego seemed to grow out of a misconceived notion that his career was going well, and seeing him humiliated by Sprott was very good. Also his first fight against Danny Williams was good to watch, as everything of note was coming from Williams.

Honeygan was an amazing boxer (who once he won the title turned into a slugger. lets not forget he totaly outboxed Curry, easily outpointed Blocker and knocked Hatcher out in 40 seconds and destroyed Johnnyn Bumphus. If he had stuck to his boxing he could have been an all time great.
Hodkinson was an excellent boxer and only terrible damage in his first fight against villasana cost him the title which he easily won in the rematch. He was similiar to Jeff Fenech in style and like Fenech once his chin went it was all down hill.
Laing was his own worst enemy he wouldnt train and after fights would diaspear for months on end, but his talent was undeniable and he scored some impressive wins in his career.
Hide boxed as a heavyweight when infact he was a cruiserweight in his fight with Bowe apart from getting knocked down seven times he did quite well.

Scott Harrison big girl? Nah mate just has some serious demons, id like to see you call him a big girl to his face, that would be funny, Scott Harrison was a good little fighter and wouldnt say he was overrated, he has never been branded about as the best featherweigth in the world or anything like that, he was always top 5 when he was top of his game, i rated Harrison hard little man.
-
Re: Your most overrated British boxers?
..I agree I always rated Scott Harrison. Shame he had mind problems.

-
Re: Your most overrated British boxers?
I would say Scott Harrison, Alex Arthur and Junior Witter but then again nobody is really proclaiming them to being the best in the world....therefore nobody is really over rating them. I suppose i chose them because 2 of them have been/are world champs and the other one is getting shot real soon, and i don't personally think they are good enough or have beaten anybody worthy enough to be a world champion. I also believe they would be exposed by any world class fighter they face.......lovemore n'dou is not world class, no matter how many times i hear or read he is (various commentators and boxing magazines) neither is Corley.

mind problems, what you on, stealing stuff when on holiday, drinking himself stupid (but he is scotch i suppose) don't sound like demons to me, just a big girl who new he was crap and got out, the sport is better without criminal scumbags like him.
everyone has problems but we suck it up and get on with it he thought the world owed him a living.
adrian dodson, chris oko, the Delaney bros, Paul Ryan and charlie shepard should be added to the list of crap british boxers.

The little Irish guy...the pocket rocket. Cant think of his name and, ok, he' s not British but he was so dull! Tough but I dont think he ever troubled people with his punches.
Was never too sure of Colin McMillan towards the end of his career. He had a few good fights I guess.

Nah, Robin Reid was very good, and Wayne Mccullough was class, certainly no chump

Honeyghan fought a weight drained, almost dead Donald Curry. Curry's handlers should of been criminally prosecuted for allowing him to go out there unable to defend himself. That was not the real Donal Curry, Honeyghan fought. The real Donald Curry would of destroyed Honeyghan worse than Mark Breland did. Yes indeed Honeyghan was overrated.

One minor adjustment. Scotch is the drink, and Scottish is what people from Scotland are. However, considering how much I imagine Scott will have been drinking since finding himself in court in Britain and Spain, I would accept and argument that his body could have distilled it all, and that he now may be about 5% pure alcohol, and who knows, that alcohol could be Scotch.
And as for criminal...I think it would be impossible to take that completely out of the game, especially at the lower end of the game because of the almost unbreakable link between violence in the ring, and violence outside of it.

Katfight how can you agree with this lot Naz was far from overrated really WBO champ 15 defences IBF and WBC champ aswell also beat WBA champ Vasquez who was stripped for fighting Naz.I thought Naz would beat Barrera similar to how Junior Jones beat him first time but i was wrong but he was only about 3 points up on scorecards but he did soundly beat him.But to say Naz was overrated is very harsh its not like he fought nothing but tomato cans like some british fighters lets not forget he only had 37 fights.
Belcastro Naz's 12 th fight for european title Belcastro was a good tough pro Naz dropped him twice and won every round for UD12.
Robinson Naz's first fight at featherweight and for a genuine world title the WBO Robinson a good strong feather ranked number 5 in the ring mag at the time Naz stops him in 8 one sided rounds I think Naz also became youngest british or english world champ.
Medina a former WBC and IBF world champ very highly ranked a world class operator Naz drops him 3 times and stops him in 11 Naz was suffering with flu at the time and it was obvious it was no excuse as you could hear it in his voice as he spoke after the fight.Medina went on after the fight to regain the IBF title and beat Scott Harrison for the WBO title years later.
Johnson was ranked number 1 featherweight in the world he was IBF champ Naz won KO 8
Badillo a good strong featherweight who had given Johnson a good fight he was WBO number 1 contender Naz stood him on his head stopped him in 7.
Kelley KO4 a good war Kelley had only lost once in about 50 fights.
Vasquez he was WBA champ but was stripped for fighting Naz Naz stopped him in 7 Vasquez was a good strong pro.
McCullough UD12 good result nobody KO's McCullough.
Ingle KO11 Ingle was dropped 3 times had some sucess himself in the fight before been stopped he went on after the Naz fight to win the IBF title off Medina this proved it was a good result for Naz.
Soto tough Mexican WBC champ it was a scrappy fight but Naz won UD12.
Bungu top superbantam champ for years TKO4 win for Naz.

Herbie is fighting at Cruiser...he fought in Turkey earlier in June and knocked the guy out in the 1st. He should've always been a cruiser IMO

i didnt say he couldnt box
i said thats not why he was popular
he went for the one punch knockout shot in most of his fights
ppl who loved him (and not theboxing) thought the way he kept his hands down was funny and cool
i though it was him being a prick
and a twat and how wen u did catch him with a nice shot he'd wobble his legs to try hide that it hurt
is that really wat's good about boxing ?
not imo
so re read what i wrote :P i was just laughing at the piss take of naz

Naz was a brilliant fighter. The only people that think otherwise are people that can't discern between someones personality and someones ability... or were too young to remember watching him live bashing the fuck out of everyone.

He bashed the fuck out of everyone for nine years, six as world champ, whilst his brilliant career lasted.
Why didn't he carry on? Probably being 27 years old and having £40m quid had something to do with it. ;)

Or realising that he wasn't the greatest fighter in the world as he had proclaimed, and deep down, as he believed. I reckon that he just couldn't get over the fact that he wasnt the greatest ever, as all the hype around him had built up.

I think that was part of it too. I truely believe in the end he believed - like all religious Bible bashing nuts - Allah was getting him through the tough fights and wouldn't allow him to lose.

cc mate, some great points, some people forget how good he was and his attitude blinkers that in some peoples eyes, Naz was done as soon as his family took over his career, they were more money minded, there was no discipline in the Naz camp once Ingle had gone. Naz was seen as the king by all his shitty entourage and basically trained if and when he wanted, he was getting beaten up by his sparring partners before the Barerra fight and was more intrested in getting the biggest room at the Casino, while Barerra was training his Maxican arse off in the Mountains. It's a sahme becasue Naz was a great fighter and anyone who thinks that was the real Naz in that ring havent really got a clue, no movement no speed his timing wasnt there nothing.
He quit because the discipline had gone, there was no one like Ingle to tell him what to do when to do it, he turned lazy and basically didnt have the hunger anymore, he made his money and didnt coem back. Quite simple.
