Ok, serious time:
floyd would runaway from Hatton like a little girl and Cotto (if his glass jaw held up) would have a giant purple face from taking all of the hits he would take whilst trying to get set to punch. floyd won't take a chance at fighting anyone he may lose to such as Mosley (too fast w/ a great chin) or Margarito (too tall w/ good power). Give it a couple of more years for those guys to age and he may still give it a shot. He is going to take the easy way out just like Lennox Lewis, retire before realizing he has to fight more than just "game" fighters. At least a boxer like Michael Spinks had the guts to step in the ring with a clearly better opponent before making his exit.

That's the key to me right there. If Hatton clinches like he usually does, it's going to prevent Mayweather from running as much and allow Hatton to get off his body shots and upper cuts. That said, I still expect a Floyd win, but he will have a tough go of it.

It's quite refreshing to see lucid boxing experts react to other's less coherent or cohesive analysts. But after watching the Tszyu Hatton fight all over again, I leave some space to doubt if Floyd can really punish Ricky to submission inside 12. At the MAN arena in Manchester, Ricky's rough house tactics had Tszyu tied and pretty much helpless for 11 rounds, I believe Ricky would be more at ease to pressure Floyd, close the distance and rough him up inside, clinch, wrestle and buy time so that he would last the distance to lose by not a wide points decision... It would be a very ugly fight though!

You have a point, a very good point. But it's not as clear cut as you make it out, let's be honest here, the first Castilio v Mayweather fight was close and as Castilio was the aggressor I would have given the fight to Castilio, yes I agree. defensively Maywaeher is brilliant, but I've always considered Boxing to be aggresive and going forward. Yes there's alot of skill involved in defense, but a offensive fighter who can also not be hit is Perfect, ie the great Roberto Duran - and yes I will challenge ANYBOBY in this forum who thinks Maywaether would have beaten a prime Duran, Duran would have eaten him alive and then spat him out.

If I were Mayweather, I would probably do the same. I think there will be more action than the DLH PBF fight. Hatton is easier to hit than DLH, but Hatton throws more than DLH.

I have watched the fight a few times.
It's easy to dismiss boxers holding and clinching but a lot of the time especially in the early rounds they are feeling each other out, seeing who is strongest etc. Hatton is brilliant at inside fighting, particularly throwing a hook/uppercut at the point of break. IT'S AN ART!
Watch it again without commentary and see if Castillo wasn't playing his part in the holding until Hatton started getting to his ribs, even the HBO commentary picked up he had started pulling his elbows in
Lets hope we get more of the same with young Floyd

Having re watched the Mayweather v Burton fight that someone kindly posted i think Floyd could handle Ricky inside and out. Floyd defense in that fight was so good he protected his body with his elbows and quickly fired off combo's and his speed was phenomenal.

I also suggest you watch Jesus Chavez vs Floyd Mayweather similar fighter and similar style to what Hatton will do Chavez was throwing 100+ punches a round in most rounds in one of the rounds he threw 96 punches only landed like 7 i don't think Mayweather will have that much trouble with Hatton to be honest i think the fight will be stoppage win for Mayweather in about 10 rounds.

Gatti was about as shot coming into the mayweather fight as castillo was coming into the hatton fight.
Tszyu was on everyones p4p list when hatton give him a beat down, hatton WAS the man at Lw, floyd was not, he beat gatti a paper champion at the time, tszyu was the man and hatton done the job then.
Hatton beat tszyu the man at Lw, then Carlos maussa who was the WBA champ and who beat the next great thing vivian harris, its funny had harris won and hatton beat him people would of counted that as a name and a great win, yet harris got a beat down and hatton beat that guy who done it, fuck all wrong with that imo... collazo was style was a nightmare for hatton and he went up and beat him, sure he is no superstar but is a good boxer and a tough tought fight for any natural junior welterweight...
I do believe castillo was mainly shot coming into that fight, but even then it was a damn good win to do what he done to him..

Floyd is quite rightly P4P#1, he is in a super league of his own but lets get it straight, Hatton is still Premier League.

Hatton has EVERY chance of beating Floyd especially if little Floyd comes to tear it up which he has alluded to recently.
Hatton is the LW Ring Champion, unbeaten in 43 fights with some good fighters on his resume.

I think he deserves a little bit more respect than gets handed out sometimes and that is by credible writers too.

i actually not long left High School im 17 and i hated school didn't do very well in my work but i enjoyed it i like learning new stuff i noticed normally people who say other people were losers in high school are actually losers themselves i love boxing i actually go to boxing gym and also you just said im acting like the big man ?? all i have done is shown you the facts your the one name calling being childish and now that you have got shown up in boxing knowledge your trying to do childish insults again about school this is funny im not even going to bother because your the one thats desperate looking for me to argue back but i won't i used to have arguments like this in juniour school i think you need to grow up.
