And right then i knew that no matter what Roy jones did in the ring some people would not be satisfied until he loses..and soon as tarver landed the luckiest punch in the history of big name fighters being kayoed the voices did exactly what was confirmed to me that night in 2003...
"i told you roy jones wasn't shit"
That's why i'm glad i said
"if Roy jones beats Ruiz no matters what happens afterwards RJJ is the best boxer/fighter since Ray Robinson" and IMO still is.....
Right, that was a lucky punch. And it was all the weight loss that caused him barely "win" the first Tarver fight. Roy Jones is the best fighter since Robinson? Roy was a great fighter, yeah, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Let's be honest here, this isn't exactly how it went down.
Roy said he'd fight Tyson or Lewis,
if he was paid $100 million for the fight. This is the oldest trick in the book, it's called "intentionally pricing yourself out of a fight."
Now I don't blame Roy at all for not wanting to fight Lennox, but let's not make it seem like Lewis is the one who backed down.
i know...lennox said no one was going pay for a two round fight..implying that he'd kayo jones....besides there wasn't any need for jones to fight lennox....

are you forgetting that rjj started at 154? ali was an amateur HW...the fact that many wonder how he would have done against the great heavy's of alltime is a subconscious concession to the fact that he's p4p the best boxer ever.....
Actually Ali was olympic LHW champ. Roy is the the best p4p ever? You state the like an indisputable fact. You don't even have the sense to say "one of" or "arguably." Even that is a stretch. You are serious, Preme-level, nuthugger. That's not even debatable.

He was not the champ he was a chump with a trinket belt thats all. Now if he fought Lennox Lewis then i would of gave him props for it. But i dont blame Roy Jones Jr for not wanting to fight Lennox Lewis because he would of killed Roy Jones Jr. Wait you know what i wish he would of fought Lennox Lewis i like to see him put into a coma just joking i dont hate Roy Jones Jr i just hate his fans they just overrate the guy way to much.
First of all I'm the biggest RJJ fan of all. I absolutley love watching the guys fights. But you will never ever hear me saying he would have a chance with an all time great HW (which is what Lennox is). He is simply just not big enough he is not even a natural LHW to me although I do think he is the greatest LHW in history. But I don't believe that I should be hated for fighting my guys corner as you said "i just hate his fans they just overrate the guy way to much". I don't hate anyones fans at the end of the day you like who you like.

Strange the two poster boys for American boxing getting help.
No doubt they probably would have won. I wonder how Oscar vs Pacquaio turns out
Same as how Tszyu had no chance of beating Hatton after 20 seconds when cheat Parris let Ricky hold, hug, low blow and headbutt all he liked. Strange how the British poster boy got help in Britain.
Re: Just Re-watched Jones vs. Ruiz...Interesting lil detail
I think its safe to say that if Roy beats calzaghe no one can say anything.
Except the people who say "Joe aint a natural light heavyweight"
In my opinion if you are going to use an excuse for why someone loses, then don't tell everyone and their mom that they will win the fight.
Why can't people just admit when they're wrong?
If Im playing Soul Calibur and i get beat I don't say "this controller is messed up."
Re: Just Re-watched Jones vs. Ruiz...Interesting lil detail
Well RJJ you and ICE and few others i dont mind much because most of what you say is not so dream like. See some many RJJ fans go overboard with him i mean just crazy. I mean people want to put the man as the next Ray Robinson and say he was the best fighter from 160-230. But to me that is just crazy maybe not hate but i can not think of word for what i fell for that. You can go on his talent all you want but his record does not come close to alot of guys in the top of the list to me. His lack of oppostion i think puts him in i would say like top 25 some were between that and the top15 so i say he is between 15-25 but no higher then that. He was best people say at SMW but did not stay there that long and SMW was never top weight division if you look over all the years of boxing for the past 100 years of it atleast might change later on. Then he goes at LHW but his record and talent faced there was not as great as other LHW but that is close one for him. Then he goes to heavyweight and fights the weakest champion i did not think it was that big a deal because after he won it he went back down and got knocked out. He never challanged the real champ for the belt so i never saw the point of him moving up in weight. Well thats all i got to say about RJJ i mean love the guy all you want i just dont see what you see i guess.
Re: Just Re-watched Jones vs. Ruiz...Interesting lil detail
Roy Jones will never get the credit he deserved for the same reason Floyd, Bhop and other modern greats won't: because he didn't fight between 1900 and 1975.
Re: Just Re-watched Jones vs. Ruiz...Interesting lil detail
Well Sugar Ray Leonard started as a pro during the year of 1977 and he seems to get alot of credit. Also lets not for get about Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfeild get credit and there were before 1975. Roy Jones Jr gets his fair share of credit and so does Bernard Hopkins. I dont by that oh because people wont give them credit because he did not fight between the years of 1900-1975 they both get the credit they deserve in alot of ways just how you look at it or someone elese looking at it.
Re: Just Re-watched Jones vs. Ruiz...Interesting lil detail
I think that you will find that they will get more credit when they have been retired a few years and people start looking back at what once was!
