hopkins by close decision
I went with Bhop via decision. I think he has the size advantage and I also believe he will be attacking from many different angles presenting Winky with something he hasn't seen before at this level. It should be a close chess match in which Bhop will prevail. :)
this might sound like a surprise to some but i think hopkins has a slightly better defense than winky and defense.
No surprise at all, Boxer, as long as people who read your post have seen the Trinidad fight and the Tarver fight... B-Hop is extremely difficult to hit cause his reflexes are superb, the guy is really a cat, elusive and tricky, when Tito tried to left hook him he was always moving to his left and frustrated Tito all night long until the borinquan was going slighty weary and slower with his punch and at the last moment ( 12th), sneaked himself in and counter-hooked him with the right ( same thing with Tarver in the 5th)... But the problem here is that Hopkins says he's going back to the rough fighting mode and kayo Winky, well, Tito said the same and then he has been retired until this day...Quote:

As close as it gets. Just tryin to keep it close to the first page so 20 of the same threads don't get started in the next week. If anyone sees it drtop too far. Pull it back up. Thanks

Can't wait for this one!!!
I leave for Vegas on Thursday morning & will have my ass in a seat as close to the mat as possible.
I say Hopkins via decision. It'll be a tuff & cagey fight.
Hopkins looks determined & he looks exceptionally fit for this fight. IWO, Winky is waaaaaaaaaaay outta his weight class here.
Two hall of famers though...should be a goody.
I voted Hopkins Decision.
I think he has the brain to work winky out , and the craftiness and ring skills to execute whatever gameplan he wants.
I have £50 on him at 2/1
Agreed 100%.Quote:

I voted draw but i think that was just some semi-councious acceptance that this fight will be be very tight and pretty unexplosive.
Although the word absorbing maybe more fair a comment.
I would like to think that Hopkins will show enough ring-savy to work Winky out.
However i cant forget that Hopkins is now 42 and is also of late, subjecting his body to the sort of weight changes that have affected the best of em down the final stretch.
Plus Winky is a gritty, industrious typaguy.
*sigh* I dunno....
What ever Hopkins does, he has to work from the get-go. I dont think snake charming will cut it here.
I'd fwockin love a draw...& if Winky brings the fight to Hopkins...we just might have one.Quote:

Im thinking though... If Winky doesn't bring it... It may well end in draw STILL ???
Wait till you see the rematch ;) Fireworks all the way!
ORLY? :)Quote:

I'd have him edging Hopkins p4p wise in the skills department too... not by much... but enough for him to outwork Bernard for a close and hard fought UD...
very close though... at least 60/40 (Hopkins loves that split! :P), possibly closer.
I wen't Winky via MD.
2/1 Where did you get those odds? :oQuote:

I can't seriously believe that any bookies at any time offered those odds, thats just insane.
Most bookies are around 10/11 for Hop and 8/11 Winky although I have seen Hop at 11/10 best price. But 2/1 nowhere even close that would be financial suicide for any bookie to have those odds.
b-hop by decision will be real close but i like b-hop more than winky so i'm rooting for him
Bilbo i don't really understand odds very well,Quote:

I only understand the decimal odds and i put mine on at 2.0.
And just to add something to the thread, if you haven;t checked it yet, I have put countdown to this fight in other section btw.
Hey Poom, yeah that's even or in fractional terms 1/1. If you were getting 2/1 odds you'd make £100 profit plus another £50 stake return so £150 total.Quote:

You'll find that virtually all bookies are offering odds on for both fighters 10/11 in Hop's case or around 8/11 for Winky who is the slight favourite.
Those kind odds basically means if it was a vote Hop would get about 55% and Winky about 60%. Obviously 60 + 55 adds up to more than 100% and would be mathematically impossible which shows you how the bookies always put things in their favour. Whoever winst the bookies won't lose.
ah ok cheers, sorry if i got your hopes up ;)Quote:

Yeah 2 is dead even in decimal so anything over 2 means he's the slight outsider.Quote:

I dont know I just dont think Winky can jab his way to a win against Hopkins, very interested to see if Winky's shell of a defense can be cracked.
25 votes B-HOP. 28 votes Winky. 2 votes draw.
Down the stretch it's lookin to be a close call on the Saddo forum.
I'd say this fight is about as close as you can possibly get to a pick'em fight. Really there is nothing seperating these two.Quote:

That sounds about right to me. :goodpost:Quote:

IMO, At this point of their fighting careers 170 is great for Hop. Not so great for Winky yesterday, today, or tomorrow. But like I said, he has proved me wrong before. We will soon see.
Wright is possibly the best defensive fighter I've seen. I can't see B-Hop forcing enough of the action to land clean shots. I say one judge has it a draw, and Winky takes a close majority decision on the other two cards.
Lately I've started leaning towards Hopkins.
Interesting fight, very hard to call. I mean, Winky's got probably the best jab in boxing, but who's better at taking away a jab than Hopkins?
I must confess I'm finding it hard to get excited about this one, I know they're two of the biggest names in the sport and both in the p4p lists, but I just can't see it being exciting in the same way as some of the other p4p fighters can be.
Ive been going the same way. I want Hopkins to retire but at this weight he really does play the cards.Quote:

I have reservations about the fight too Miles, more so from a Winky perspective. I think Winky will win. I go back and forward but I think his jab and work rate will see him through although if he leaves as many openings as he has done in his last few fights,B Hop has a good chane to win. I just don't know ??? :D
winky dec
It will be an awesome display of defense, but do not sleep on this fight, Both can throw the heat when needed!
My head says Wright, My heart says Hopkins.
Winky UD. Hopkins is too slow to contend with Winky. Hopkins likes a good slow pace where he can throw one punch at a time and then rough you up afterwards. Winky's jab will be in Hopkins face all night and Winky's defense will stop Hopkins from landing anything relevant.
:coolclick: I think you got it exactly right. Wright will set a faster pace than a 42 yo Hopkins can effectively fight through.Quote:
