Easy. I've known about Naito since 2001. He was 18-0 when he went up against fellow prospect Takefumi Sakata (15-0) in a highly anticipated fight in Japan. The winner was suppose to get a shot at the champion. Which was Wonjongkam. The fight was a draw. But Naito was said to have the edge and was always considered the better prospect/fighter. So he got the title shot. And he chocked. He got caught in like 30 something seconds with a punch and it was over. Naito blamed it on inexperience. Considering he was 19-0 and Wonjongkam was 43-2. I excepted his excuse. Naito proceded to go 8-0 with 6 knock outs to earn another shot at Wonjongkam. Naito came out tight in that fight and gave away the first 4 rounds. He finally got on track and took the fight to Wonjongkam. But a head butt caused a cut and he lost when the fight went to the cards. Naito went 3-0 to force a 3rd fight with Wonjongkam. And I had a feeling he was pretty much over the mental hurdle of being knocked out in one round. So I felt if he fought his fight from the beginning than he had a great chance at beating Wonjongkam. And he did.
I have issues when you used the word 'earned' another shot..... and 'forced' a 3rd fight.
I think both you and I can agree that if anyone earned or deserved a shot at PongsaShit it was Arce cause he was the Interim Champ.
Naito kept fighting PongsaShit cause it was the choice of Team PongsaShit not because Naito was earning or forcing anything.
Fwocken Jose even had the urgency to talk shit! about Joe not fighting Kess and saying Joe needed to step up. In that thread I posted that Jose needed to shut the fwock up and worry about his organization/belt holders such as Pongsaklek and the shit that Jose let PongsaShit get away with was just ridiculous. He should be ashamed if he get's any worse I'm gonna have to start comparing the WBC to the IBF in a who's worst talk.
Naito went 8-0 to earn a rematch with Wonjongkam in I think it was 2005. Arce barely moved up to Flyweight that same year. He was fighting at Junior Flyweight before that. So at that time Arce was not more deserving than Naito. As for there 3rd fight? Arce is no longer fighting at Flyweight. So how is he deserving of a title shot at Flyweight? I ain't defending Wonjongkam. He should of fought Arce, Parra and the other big names. All I'm saying is Naito earned his title shots.

IMO why Wonjongkam chose to fight a guy he'd already blown out in 34 seconds two more times is beyond me. Naito did not beat a top ten contender after both loses so in my opinion had no business being in the ring with Wonjngkam again. But he made the most of the opportunity & congratulations to him!!!

Don't mind me VD as ANYTHING that sounds remotely as a good thing for PongsaShit or anything that sounds like his opponents where worthy I'll go against. Nothing against them.

Well this sets up a rematch with Sakata for Naito, a unification fight in Japan. Hopefully the winner will go forward and try to unify the belts. Maybe Donaire and Narvaes can meet to unify the other two big belts.

wow, i never even seen a flyweight fight before

I agree with this. I like Sakata though. Good little fighter and did well to outpoint Vasquez. I believe a rubber match between them two is in the making so we may have to wait for unification.
