"There's been rumblings going on about it," said the Mexican-American multiple world champion, known as "Golden Boy", of a possible Hatton bout.
"I respect Ricky Hatton. He's a great fighter, he's a great guy. If that fight does get made, fans all over the world will be ecstatic. They will see a fight. Ricky Hatton comes to fight. And that's what I love. If we ever do it, it will be a heck of a show, that's for sure."
Hope this fight happens. I'm tipping Oscar. Bigger and a better puncher
He is just trying get back at Mayweather and get a few more dollars in his pocket.

i agree with u. My question is why will Hatton move up in weight to fight de la hoya but not go up to fight PBF?
The rumour of Hatton not being willing to fight Mayweather at 147/154 is completely unfounded and is anti-Hatton propaganda. I'd go as far as to guess it came from the same source that claimed Hatton agreed to a Collazo rematch, and has turned down a fight with Mayweather countless times.

What was Hattons paycut? Surely he still made millions, and he did get to fight the champ in his own town, i mean he should have made way less than Kostya. I dont think that proves he is not greedy.

I kinda forgot to write what I was supposed to their, what I meant was that before the Mayweather fight, the idea of Oscar was that he was a force to be reckoned with, and even though he lost to Mayweather, the fight was very close, some thought Oscar even won. Catch my drift, I know I'm kinda rambling. :-[

This is from a quote from the boxingtalk archive in Members page interview with Darren Nichols on June 25 2007. The URL is http://www.boxingtalk.com/pag/article12639.html I don't know if it will work for non-members.
I'm not allowed to post the full article but here's the question.
BoxingTalk: If you were to fight Mayweather, what weight would you fight at?
Ricky Hatton: I think my limit would be 147. I mean, I’m a natural 140 fighter. If I got to 147 that’s a number for me, because I’m a junior welterweight, but the pain would be worth the gain, so maybe we’d fight at a catch weight.

I cant see Hatton headed for anything but a beat down either way. But then again either way it would be entertaining cuz Ricky comes to fight for sure! Plus he'd last longer than Gatti did I think. Personally I hope he does fight DLH and Mosley fights Mayweather. That'd be a couple of tight fights.

i dont undersatnd the constant gatti/Hatton comparisons??? Gatti doesnt have the same foot movement as Hatton , Hatton creates angles to throw bodyshots form all angles, please go watch the two fight there is hardly any similarity, Gatti likes to throw punches and hooks square on, Hatton likes to get under your nose and shift to his left and right.

I agree with this whole post.
It amazes me how some on the foum were just calling for ODH's retirement because in their opinion he is not an elite fighter. Some of the same posters were singing Hatton praises for being one of the top p4p fighters in the world. This fight comes up & all some people (including some of the aforementioned) want to talk about is how ODH is way too big, etc... Hatton actually was the bigger man to start their carreers (Hatton JWW 149lbs---ODH a small LW 133lbs).
Nobody talked about the weight when ODH wentr way north in weight to challenge B-HOP @ MW, Winky all the way to 170lbs, or RJJ to HW. And I could go all day, that's just a few cases. Here we have 2 guys that are very similar in natural fighting weight & that's all people are talkin about is "Oscar is so much bigger".
This is hillarious IMO. For the record, I think that Hatton is a damn good fighter. But it's almost like some people are lining up an excuse for Hatton already for if/when he gets drummed.
ODH is scrutinized as much as anyone that's out there. He' a natural LW that gets stopped 1x in his career to all time MW B-Hop & everyone talks about how he don't like it/can take it to the body. He loses a SD to the consensus p4p king & people say that he's slipping. etc...etc... The scrutiny of ODH is to the point of downright foolish.
As for as the PBF fight if Hatton has his choice (PBF or ODH). Although the hype of 2 undefeated champions gett'n it on would be good for boxing there are $$$-many-$$$ reasons why I think that ODH would be Ricky's choice. This is a business & I know that I don't blame these guys for goin where the biggest $$$ is.
Just beacause Hatton didn't look strong @ WW vs Collazo doesn't mean that thw "he's just a little guy." "ODH is too big." cards should be played. It should be the same for everyone. It's 7 damn lbs for Hatton to go up against a guy (ODH)that made his debut as the smaller man (7lbs smaller than Hatton).
Let's give the Bugger stuff a rest. If/when this fight is made. ODH will spank him because he hyas the style to & he's the better fighter.--------------------PERIOD!!!!!
And Gatti is not & was not no Hatton!!!!

What you talking about? When was the last time Dela Hoya fought at 140lbs?? He is the bigger man period, he has moved up the weights because he has always had the credentials to do so, do you think Dela Hoya would make 140 now?? Would he balls, he is the bigger man the guy has been taking shots from men who now operate at 175 lbs??? It's not an excuse its a fact Dela Hoya is the much bigger man. Im not making excuses or no one else is there facing the facts the only reason to take this fight is the money, Dela Hoya has got a style which would be bad full stop imo, but the fact like i said is he is the bigger man.

Hatton would move up to 147lb to fight floyd. He has said it a few times in interviews (ill have alook for them) and he has told me personnally on a number of occasions. Trust me, he will fight at 147lb against floyd.

Yeah, but the haters say they're the same. How can they be wrong? ::**They use valid arguments to back up their claims. Collazo did clearly beat Hatton. Hatton has only fought chumps and those who were far past there best. He's a waster, a bum, a hugger, a cheat and he's just a little fatty who's proven nothing. ::**
Did I miss anything out?

Well Dan found you quotes saying he'll move up to 147. He's also said on many occasions he wants to fight Floyd. Do you honestly believe he won't fight him at 147 given the oppertunity, money and status he'd gain for a win, plus he has very little to lose.

As a Hatton fan I'm shocked fella. If you thought I was a hater you must be crazy, ask me any question about Rick and I'll answer it. Just because I'm a fan it does not mean I'll not speak my mind.
Look up any past posts from me. All I am asking for is proof he said he would fight at 147.

I'm just getting pretty bored of reading the same thing over and over again. Every time there is a thread about Ricky Hatton the haters just see it as a F****** breeding ground to criticise him with dumb comments.
I may have quoted the wrong person dude, I'm not taking a dig at your personally, just the haters in general, coz I'm pretty sick of hearing their same bollocks arguments.

Don't listen bzkfn, he got his proof and that's that, Hatton is willing to fight Floyd at 147 and we'll soon see the proof if that MEN article is reliable.

Dan, I wasn't being serious. I don't need proof. I know Ricky wants the fight because I've read enough quotes of him myself over the years to know that he'd forsake every other fight for this one.

Either way (Floyd or Oscar), Hatton's gonna look a lot like Gatti did when he fought the aforementioned and reknownedly vain egotists.
Could/would ODH make 140lbs now?=NO. But that has nothing to do with what my point was. Is he bigger than Hatton=YES. But why is everyone making it such an issue because it's a Hatton thread. It's one weightclass/7lbs from where he spent his whole career. Fighters go up all the time & nobody ever makes it this big of a discussion. "ODH is much bigger", don't act like he's some kind of a monster.
So he's a little bigger. If Hatton is supposed to be a top p4p guy & ODH is on such a decline (according to some on here) then Ricky shouldn't have a problem handling ODH. Right?
And for the record, I'm no Hatton hater. I appreciate him as a very good fighter.

Do you dislike money ??? I think if you were Hatton you would take the fight, and that you weren't really thinking when you posted otherwise. If Hatton fought Oscar at Wembley he would make well over ten million dollars plus massive upside. Noone else would ever bring him nearly as much cash. And realistically, he has no better a chance of beating Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, than he does Oscar. They'd all crush him imo, but hey if he takes one of them good on him, it's good for boxing.
What is it with you ?? everytime i post something you disagree with you either say i don't know much about boxing or that im not thinking ect i was thinking clearly if i was Hatton i would go for Mayweather he is p4p number 1 if i win im on top of the world if i lose well i lost to p4p number 1 right now lets flip the coin for a second.
Im fighting Oscar i won well yea but i beat a guy thats 2 wins and 3 losses in last 3 years he is washed up ect now say he loses he lost to a guy who isn't even in top p4p 15 at the moment i think it could hurt Ricks career losing to a shot Oscar.
Boxing is not all about money i don't think Hatton will get much credit for a Oscar win plus i don't even think Oscar deserves a fight with Hatton he is just using Hatton to add to his legacy then retire if i was Hatton i wouldn't even give him that chance and yes i like money p4p don't everyone wish they had millions ?? but sometimes you gotta use your head he should realize Oscar is just using him in a fight alot of people favour Oscar i would say about 70/30 80/20.
If you don't agree fair enough but don't say im not thinking clearly just because you disagree.
