Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
It's absolutely amazing that Holyfierld has managed to get back to the top of the ladder, unfortunatley now he's in more danger than ever of being severely hurt.Unfortunately I think Ibragimov will finish off the old dog, it's very sad.

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Good for Evander, I'll be rootin for him, too bad its the WBO belt though... Most, including myself consider it to be the least of the 4 belts.

This is ridiculous. Personally I do not see how Evander can win this fight. If he does win Sultan Ibragimov should hang his head in shame and never fight again.
I do not hate Evander "Holyshit" Holyfield and if he wins I will clap for him, but it does not make him a 5 time anything in my book. Maybe if he defends it impressivly against good opposition I will reconsider.
I agree 1000000%

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Evander has the best chance of beating Sultan given the other options.....but there is the possibility of a Gatti-Gomez like BEAT DOWN due to Sultan's fast hands and good combo's.
I am happy Evander is not fighting Wladimir and Sultan is not fighting Chagaev because Wladimir would kill Evander and should focus on fighting another title holder

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
I see Evander winning this match inside 6 rounds. look for Evander's Str8 Rt to seal the deal and a mop up left hook to follow. 8). I am very happy that Evander is getting this oppertunity. Evander brings old school work rate and high determination factor to this divison. something that is greatly needed. Good stuff ! O0

Enter Lord's Gym....you ain't been around too much bro, but I knew a thread about Evander would drag you out of that corner of yours! ;)
I'm probably landing on your side, in that Holyfield probably has a better shout on having a title shot because of his recent performances and his history, rather than many other fighters in the division.
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing it, and I don't think Holyfield is so far away from world class that he will get demolished.
-
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
For Holyfield I'm glad he's getting a shot at a top guy, he's a true warrior of the sport & I respect him for that! I am disppointed Chagaev/ Ibragimov ain't happening as it was 2 top 10 guys getting it on. I think Holyfield will perform better than most expect but I do feel he'll be on the end of a losing decision.
One more thing this fight is only for a worthless belt! Theres no championship on the line here!!! End of the day it's the #6 heavy facing a legendary but alas unranked opponent.
-
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Thats great. I really think Evander has a shot. This is his last chance at doing something no other fighter has done in the history of the sport. Evander can pull out all the tricks and experience hes got from the last two decades and make one last record. Imbromavog has never fought someone like Holyfield, and Holyfield has fought many guys like Imbromavog and beaten them so as long as his body doesnt let him down his heart, determination,a nd experience will win him this fight.

You and JT Rocksteady have been diehard supportors since Holyfield cameback on a mission. For you guys I hope Evander boxes Ibragimov's ears. I will be in shock of course. :o

After the sudden withdrawal of WBA Heavyweight Champion Ruslan Chagaev from his October 13th unification bout with WBO Heavyweight Champion Sultan Ibragimov due to undisclosed medical reasons, Seminole Warriors Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, Main Events and Golden Grain Promotions, in association with Sampson Lewkowicz and Yuri Federov’s Sports Lab, have announced that stepping up to the plate in an attempt to win the heavyweight championship of the world for a fifth time is Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield. Ibragimov-Holyfield sponsored by Nafta Moskva, will take place on the original date of Ibragimov-Chagaev, Saturday, October 13, at the state of the art Khodynka Arena in Moscow, Russia. Broadcast plans for the bout will be announced once they are secured.
GO EVANDER!!! I think this is a step up to soon i think i would of like to see him in against a couple of nearly men first to be perfectly honest but you never know.
Evander Holyfield has no chance whatsoever. Hopefully he gets the same beating that Arturo Gatti got a couple of weeks ago and realises he has nothing left. It would be great if he retired before he gets permanently damaged, although it may be too late.

this is the weakest era in HW history! holyfield knows this and is taking advantage--very possible he could take it a 5th time

No it's not the weakest era in heavyweight history, it's just different. It's competitive and also the promoters keep the big fights from happening.
I hate when people think just because there is not a unified champ that it's a weak era: Wladimir, Vitali, Sam Peter....those guys could hold their own in ANY era Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Bowe, Lewis. There are extremely good fighters fighting these days but just because they are mostly Russian and haven't unified it's a "horrible era"......if anyone gave Wlad or Vitali the chance to unify they would do it and they would dominate and they'd still be ridiculed because it would be fairly easy for 2-3 years defending the titles as the younger heavyweights develop but hell Mike Tyson is looked upon very well though he had very few tough matches in his tenure as champion.
Holyfield has a good chance of beating Sultan it's not because Sultan is horrible...he isn't, he has talent, it's limited but he has talent and he's still developing as a 12 round fighter but Evander Holyfield is an all-time great fighter and he has the heart to beat anyone on any given night

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
He has a good chance but dont underestimate Sultan is my advice to him
I hope he wins though ;D

Who would have really thought that a year or so ago?
I remember the threads saying the comeback was a joke (even i said it was) and he'd never be a figure ever again but this is just unbelieveable.
this comeback is now more of a joke than ever.
theres not enough steroids in the world to help evander beat sultan.
sultan by brutal ko within 10 (evander wont win a round)
i think ur wrong. remeber how much trouble ray austin gave sultan, wat makes u think he can destroy holyfield
evander was getting tagged on by journeyman lou savarees, and i remember jeremy bates even caught him with a couple good shots.
sultan will stop the most over rated fighter in the history of boxing
You and your comments are a joke
whatever Big Douche.............
i guess youre right. Holyfield NEVER got rocked by lou savaresse or jeremy bates ::**
Wow, congrats on being the first one with that joke ::** Your original.
So, where do i begin?
"Most overrated fighter in history"
How can a 4 time world champ be overrated?
How can a guy who displayed heart and determination in every big fight in his career (sometimes while being injured) be overrated?
A guy who left a piece of himself in the ring after every fight?
DO YOU NOT REMEMBER ROUND 10 in 92' against BOWE? how can a person that went through all that be overrated?
Dont forget, he is one of the first to completely dominate Mike Tyson 6 YEARS before lennox lewis finaly stepped in the ring with Mike.
This is a guy who conditioned himself from Cruiserweight to heavyweight and turned into the one of the best if not the BEST HW of all time.
LOL @ rocked by bates.
His first fight back in 2 years and he gets hit with 1 powershot, and you want to hold that against him?
Also lou sarvaresse is a TOUGH veteran being knocked out by the likes of tyson and kirk johnson.
Like i said (and it wont change) your a joke.

Holyfield definitely wasn't overrated, infact the opposite is probably true.
However what you posted above is why he should have retired years ago.

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Hey the guy has the ultimate faith in himself and his ultimate goal is to unify the heavyweight division. He doesn't even want to defend them when/if he gets there. He says he just wants to walk around for 6 months as the undisputed champion and make history and then he'll go. However, unlikely that is to happen who are we to tell a man with so much heart and belief in himself otherwise? If he gets battered, it was something he wanted to do. If he wins, it will sure be a tear-jerker thats for sure! He certainly hasn't looked like a danger to himself in his 2 or 3 comeback fights.
Good luck to Evander, I hope he does it :)

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Ultimate faith + Huge hart + Unreachable goal + Reduced skills and reflexes cuz of age = Tragic Ending.

Nope totally disagree only Wlad and Vitali would hold there own in eras like that the others wouldn't.
By the way how old is Holyfield ?? he must be close to Foremans record.

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
If Holyfield wins, I'm going to fear for his life in his next fight. Evander is probably crazy enough to think he can bang with Wlad, Vitali, or Sam, and those guys will destroy him. I love Evander, but I hate this comeback and I wish he would stay retired. I almost want to Ibragimov to win so he don't end up in the ring with Wlad.

Yes only the top level guys like Wlad and Vitali could hold their own in any era....but think about the guys from those eras that could say the same.....it's like 1 or 2 per era it's not like 50 fighters from this era or that era could do great anytime.
Ali's era had Foreman and Frazier and that was it as far as GREAT goes.....it had a ton of good, decent, and average fighters like Quarry, Shavers, Bonavena, Chuvalo, Norton, Terrell, etc.....but tell me how is that different from right now???
Wladimir and Vitali are going to be considered GREAT and they have a shitload of good, average, and talented young fighters behind them as well as the aging vets from the last era.
The perception of this era is just an issue of matches that need to be made, either Klitschko vs these guys: Sam Peter, Ruslan Chagaev, Sultan Ibragimov, Nicolay Valuev, Corrie Sanders, Shannon Briggs (maybe...just to see him KTFO), and Tony Thompson

He was a 4 time "champion," because he would get a title, lose it ASAP, get it back. A champion DEFENDS their title successfully ;)(and i hope you're not counting his victory over John Ruiz as anything)
Holyfield fans need to quit ramming this "heart," garbage down everybody's throats. The guy was on the same client list for steroids as Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Rafael Palemero, and many other athletes that got busted for steroids, and he still lost 8 fights. Steroids do not equal "heart." The guy was a punching bag.
He lost to John Ruiz, Larry Donald, and was knocked out by feather fisted (at heavyweight) James Toney. In his so called prime, he lost 2 out of 3 to Riddick Bowe (who nobody considers an all time great) and was even knocked out by Michael Moorer. Hardly the resume of an "all time great," and certainly not one of the greatest heavyweight of all time ::**, which you stated he may be in your ridiculous, garbage post.
and for the record................. Lou Savaresse is a journeyman. Getting knocked out by Mike Tyson in the 1st round, and Kirk Johnson in the 4th round does not make him a "tough veteran. ;)"

OK, I agree that Evander should avoid Sam Peter if he were to win this one, but Wlad hasn't really shown anything too recently to show he can really bang, and I wouldn't mind throwing a fiver on Holyifield as an outsider for that one. As for Vitali, we need to see how his return to the sport goes and whether he shows any rust.

Wlad, vitali and peter each have their fair share of power (vitali hitting the hardest of the three in question). Skills or lack there of aside, they hit hard and holyfield doesn't need that. After he gets this one he should try his hardest to get chagaev in a unification match and then just retire.

Now you're thinking like Evander's agent my son! If it was purely about making the most money in the least dangerous fights, that would be the best path to choose, and he might do well to go that way, rather than go in against the real dangermen.

I get nervous everytime he gets in the ring and feel he's just a tragedy waiting to happen. The sooner he gets those two fights (win or lose) done the better.

Because Holyfield has worked his ass off and deserves his one last shot for what he has done for the sport and how many great fights he has given us this is his last chance and he deserves it.

Cmon now, Evander is a grown man and can certainly take care of himself.
If things get rough in there and Ibragimov starts to land a lot of hard shots and holyfield takes them without throwing back....his corner will throw in the towel. His corner keeps a good eye on him especially now, I am sure.
But sultan aint no James Toney! I think EV will be a tough fight for sultan and I think this will be an exciting fight. Sultan will have to push himself very hard to win. This will be a very game fight which I think could go either way.
I dont think we have to worry about holy getting in the ring with either Klitschko bro or Peter. Now that would be something to worry about. But I dont think anyone would let it happen.

I'm sure you would have a problem with a prime Holyfield too... And dont kid yourself Evander in his prime he would mentally and physically breakdown your little hero and drown him in the deep waters if they ever fought prime for prime.

Getting knocked out by Mike Tyson in the 1st round, and Kirk Johnson in the 4th round does not make him a "tough veteran. ;)"
Evander has been great for boxing nd the only person that beat him at his prime as far as im concerned is bowe nd i think its no coincidence that lewis nd tyson never fort bowe nd if u watch his fight nd cant c heart u dont have one which would explain ur name. I no he shouldnt have lost a few fights that he has to lesser opposition but he still deserves credit for wot he has acheived in the ring. Nd i can only wish him gd luck in his title fight

There is no proper proof so until there is which i don't think there ever will be you need to stop ramming it down everyones throats Holyfield started off as a Cruiserweight and imo the best Cruiserweight of all time he moved up to hw beat Tillis Thomas Stewart and then beat living hell out of Douglas who had just giving Tyson a one sided beating and i don't see why he is overrated he lost to Bowe who is one of the most talented hws to step in the ring and was 2 stone heavier than Holyfield and still stood toe to toe with him and only reason he lost 3rd fight was because he had hepatitis A watch the documentary and your see yourself he had Bowe out on his feet and couldn't do anything because he had no energy thats why he was only fighting for 20 seconds of the round the man is all heart and has had so many great fights always entertaining and your bringing up Holyfield's losses to Donald Byrd ect i suppose lets bring up Tyson's loss to Williams then ?? i don't know why you hate on Holyfield ok you don't have to be a fan but he is always entertaining to watch is nice guy out of the ring never has done anything bad to my knowledge yet you hate on him i just don't get.
And as for Lou he did fight Foreman and alot think he deserved the decision he isn't as bad as you make out ok he is no world beater but he is a decent hw.

this was direct from the horses mouth and was on espn nonstop for about a week. they showed him saying this in an interview
