A lot of people would say in the Robin Reid fight
I have to say, with all due respect, that Reid put up a very good fight, but not quite good enough. On watching the fight, I think that the two judges who gave it by 5 rounds to Calzaghe were there or thereabouts on the money. I had it by four rounds to Joe, but we can't quibble on details like that. To be honest, I think it was the passionate home crowd and a favourable judge which allowed Robin Reid to actually have a real shout in that fight, and present a more even result between the two guys than it actually was.
Then again, I am a Joe fan, so I'm sure you'll be taking everything I say on the subject with a pinch of salt, whether I'm fair or not.
As for the post by RP33 which started this, I'm afraid that whilst Kessler could well win if he throws a lot of combos, the evidence of his previous performances suggest that throwing 4,5, 6 punch combos are not really in his repetoire, with the 1,1,2, being his main improvement on the 1,2. But, come fight night, if Joe loses fairly and squarely, I'll man up and admit that he was beaten by the better man, as I'm sure he himself will.

mate that fight was in england, reid was the bigger name, joe was welsh and had no real hype or a big following, no way can you accuse that as being a hometown DC in someone esles hometown.

This may sound like simplicity and its finest but, I picked Kessler by hard fought desicion. Father time waits for no man and when its time its time, I think Joe's is about to run out.. Kessler is young and hungry and ready to take his place on top of the SMW mountain...
Calzaghe is gonna break his hands, without a doubt and is gonna be left with his asss hanging in the wind against a really good boxer that shows controled aggression.

That's not really true, Calzaghe was the attraction, the one going places, Reid was coming off a piss-poor loss to Malinga (barring the gimme fight).
Good answer though for the Reid robbery ::** merchants.
I mean, as if a Londoner like Calzaghe is gonna get a hometown decision against a scouser in geordieland ;)

I think Kess is young & hungry but compared to Joe...he's still a bit green in the skill department.
Joe's fought with broken hands before & pulled it out...I'd expect the same to happen in such an esteemed contest.
Kessler will have a huge HUGE fight on his hands.
I still gotta go with Joe.

Thats one fight out of 40+ fights jeez every champion who has been going along time has a close decision atleast once in there career and that was no robbery that was very close fight that could of gone either way.

Basically, although there were a lot of close rounds, I recall seeing Calzaghe edge it by three or four rounds, but to placate you I'll have another look over the weekends, and bring you my scorecard so you can see where I'm coming from.
And JT....you never turn down the sheep "rental" service from the next village when you come over our place for some moonshine and witch burnings...

I got Calzaghe by hard fough decision. I think Kessler is gonna present Joe with his toughest test to date. But I think Calzaghe is the better fighter! Kessler maybe the harder puncher but I feel Joe's speed & boxing ability will prove far superior in the end!

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Polls. Get it? Wacko's Poll? Heh heh heh. Cal vs Kes
I have been watching some fights from both guys that have been posted on here.....I have watched both before of course. I have got to say, Joe has handspeed that is unmatched by anyone in his wieght class......possibly ever. On top of that, he has fairly heavy hands for his speed.... None of that Kassim Ouma stuff (although I like Kassim). His hands may break but experiene and skill will carry him through..
