Nobody can get to the post weigh in buffet faster then James Toney, thats for sure
Its a difficult topic..
There are a few things i ponder on when thinking of my answer and looking at others answers
One is things like how to define speed like a roy jones compared to a james toney and a Tapia
Toney and tapia are more likely to appear to be fast.. They both tend to flurry, Tapia would sometimes come forward with continuous straits.. and both flurry to the body and come up to the head..Its like three down stairs and come up with hooks and uppercuts..while roy was just crazy fast and snappy popping out fast punches one two three at a time with ease and the way in which he throws is different..#
Another matter i think of is this..
Rafael Marquez..Yes fast im sure.. But not of that style.. I suppose style aids speed..
If you were to put a R Marquez and An Andre Berto in front of me i bvelieve most would favour berto..
Its just the strange way in which the style of punching and pop favours the speed
I would disagree. I don't think anybody is faster than Zab at 140+, there are a few guys at that top speed that are pretty close to even him, Mayweather, Leonard, Mosley, probably Robinson though the cameras back then make it hard to tell. Mayweather at 130-135 was faster than any of them except Mosely, but he had much faster feet than Mosley.Quote:

Good point I going on Ray i could be wrong just my opinion i have seen a lot of SRL and i think he looks faster then Zab but to be honest i am bias because i am a huge SRL and i hate Zabs so much it is not even funny so i probably wrong i guess you could say teath
Roy Jones at middle or Super Middle in my opinion is the fast i ever seen, pretty boy is not far behind him.
Your not necessarily wrong... I thought I was right when I measured the time it took for a guy to jab or to throw a punch at a hundredth the speed, and stuff like that, but its hard to measure in with guys like Leonard where their actual arm reach wasn't ever measured, and the fact that boxers change the speed of their punches.
Taking punches from
Leonard-Benitez
Leonard-Hearns
Mayweather-Judah
Judah-Spinks II
Mosley-Oscar Dela Hoya
their punching speed was roughly
Mosley(by a hair)
Mayweather, Judah, Leonard
then a gap
Hearns, Spinks
Benitez
Dela Hoya
At 135 and below however
Mayweather was faster with his straight punches and hooks than Mosley, but he never threw those fluid combinations.
Fights
Mayweather-Corrales, Castillo II
Mosley-Holiday, Leija
However guys like Robinson the frame weren't even 60/sec so it really didn't work that well with him even at middleweight to gauge. Even Ali was hard, but he had comparable handspeed to guys like Hearns and Spinks which is rediculous. Mike Tyson actually matched up with Arturo Gatti.
This work I did was purely with the time it took from the punch to reach its target, and the time it took to get back. Guys like Hearns I made it more even because he has 31' arms.
Watch Roy JOnes jr. then watch Mosley-ODLH 1, or Mayweather-Corrales... you will see he isn't as fast as them.Quote:
