You've gotta be kidding right?
I don't know how many times you've seen this fight and how many times you saw the replay but that hook that dropped Jaca would have dropped most Featherweights who were in the same conditions. Jaca did better then most people thought he would he fought his a** off that night he gave as good as he received and to say he took a dive just let's me know that your merely speaking from anger and disappointment more then anything.
I'll tell you what, something tells me you've only seen the fight once possibly twice. I have that fight and I just uploaded that fight a few weeks ago if your interested I could send you the links so you can download it and watch it again in it's entirety. Let me know and I'll send you a PM. :)
I haven't erased that fight in my DVR but thanks. Jaca did fought his heart out in that fight, both of them actually. JMM kept fighting with a big cut in the eyebrow. So you're saying if Jaca tried to get up, he would've been like Judah or Darchinyan when they were KOed?
I think he was just shocked and couldn't think right.

Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
Sonny went down from a flash shot and then was acutally too scared of rising because he was too intemedated by Ali. He was standing right there and was waiting for listen to rise to hit him with another shot, so he stayed down. not a dive, but he was just scared.

He made out he was hurt but getting up and falling again that was total BS and bad acting from Sonny.

I see a program on Liston vs Ali and they had this computer program or something to show you exactly where Ali's punch landed and it was nothing more than a grazing blow on the cheek.
Take a grazing blow to the anything from a heavyweight ice.
Yeah but Liston could take a punch, its hard to imagine someone with Liston's chin going down from 1 grazing Ali punch. Ali would be the first to say he isn't a 1-punch guy.
Prison guards used to smack Liston over the head with clubs and couldn't even knock him down yet Ali who isn't known for his one punch KO power nor is he a power puncher hits Liston with a grazing shot to the cheek and and has him staggering and reeling from only a grazing shot ?? yea right.

Exactly! I was watching the Final Round (a documentary on the Chuvalo/Ali fight), and I remember Chuvalo was adament that Liston took a dive, in fact he stormed the ring after the fight and had to be restrained I believe. I think the deal was that if Ali won the fight, Patterson would fight Ali for the title, and if Liston won the fight, Liston would fight Chuvalo for the title (what a fight that would have been), so Chuvalo felt like he got screwed.

Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
I seem to only be able to come up with relatively recent and not too meaningful ones, but I though Peter Manfredo vs Scott Pemberton looked awfully suspicious. I know Pemberton was shot, but it looked like he just rolled over, and it didn't look like there was that much on Manfredo's shots. Plus, it looked like an old lady could have slipped those punches!

Gotta admit it looks funny in slow motion.

Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
Notice the landing, he completely braced himself. When you get knocked down you don't go down that slow. Yes, I know the clip is slow motion, but still.

I wish you could watch the program i see it shows you exactly where the punch landed and it was only grazing blow on the cheek.

Which again was nothing more than holmes beating up on a past-it ali.
Ali didn't steal a win against doug jones, we already established that. Henry cooper couldn't beat ali and ali proved it was a fluke in the rematch by beating him by way of cut without "unpadded gloves and smelling salts". If the first liston fight was rigged, liston wouldn't have been trying so hard for the knockout in round 4 (or 5) when ali had trouble seeing. Liston never once had ali in trouble except for when he couldn't see in their first fight. He knocked out ron lyle (who was ahead at the time on the score cards) and it wasn't a bad or fixed stoppage. There is no controversy with ali inside the ring, he beat everybody he beat and if someone took a dive against him, all they did was save themselves from the embarrasment that would've happened later in the fight anyway. Next.......

I didn't say first Liston fight was fixed but i believe Liston took a dive in 2nd fight but thats my opinion you know what my favorite Ali fight is ?? the one with Clevand Williams he was like poetry in motion that night infact im watching it again now his movement reflexes were so damn good i think that version of Ali would of beaten prime Tyson like a bad habit.

Watch the tyson-berbick knockdown. It looks exactly the same. It doesn't even look like tyson connects (it looks like he just grazes his head) and then a few second later berbick drops to the ground. Yet no one EVER calls that knockdown into question...... Trust me it doesn't even look like tyson connects good and berbicks movements are exactly the same as listons.

Haven't seen that for awhile but Tyson was battering Berbick from pillar to post and i seem to remember a short chopping left hook inside then Berbick went down but it was a delayed reaction i'll get the footage up.

Get them both up. Ali was never the puncher tyson was but i've been hit in the temple before by a weaker guy and trust me, it'll get you everytime. Ali was a professional heavyweight boxer. His punches, while considered "weak" for his division, would've hurt any man (as long as his knuckles weren't bothering him).

You would post both fights in their entrity ice.. ::** :P
From memory tho, I can assure you they looka mazingly similar and berbick and liston react in similar ways. Don't blame walcott for being alittle off at refereeing, thats marciano's fault.

Bruce Seldon V Tyson.
Seldon was absolutely shitting himself, he couldnt wait to get out of that fight. I think the average bloke on the street might have had a decent chance of staying up from the punches that put Seldon down. Seldon should have had his purse taken and been strung up by the balls for that "performance"

Thats rediculous man, you can see the punch land on Berbick's temple. He just had his eqilibrium (sp?) thrown off. If it was a work, and he was taking a dive, why would he intentionally make himself look like an idiot? People still laugh when they see him stumbling around the ring like a drunk

It was a bad stoppage, if they let the fight go on longer McNeely would have gotten the chance to wrap Tyson in his cocoon of horror. ;D
Seriously, Mcneely may be the worse boxer on the mic ever!

Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
McNeeley? Are you serious? Tyson picked him up with an uppercut. And remember, McNeeley was on his feet when his corner stopped it. He was getting hammered. It may have been the biggest payday of his career, but imagine how he would have skyrocketed up the rankings had he beaten Tyson. The fact of it is he just wasn't up for the job. He had a decent record, in fact, was much too good on paper for Tyson to be fighting him straight out of the box. Tyson should have taken on a lesser opponent, but wanted to make a statement.

Tyson should have taken a lesser opponent ?? McNeely was the easist opponent for Tyson the only reason McNeely had a good record is because he fought all cab drivers hell McNeely even got TKO in 1 round by Butterbean that right there says it all.
-
Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
What I'm saying is McNeeley had a good-looking record, not that he himself was really good. Obviously, he wasn't. But there were certainly other people, even easier ones, that they could have picked without complaint. Don't get the interpretation I mean McNeeley is a good fighter.

Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
I've seen it mentioned and I'll say it again,I think Oscar took a dive v B Hop. 2 main reasons:
1.) bodyshots hurt, liver shots kill BUT,has anyone gone down like Oscar before? I've seen Miranda drop someone,Arcev Rojas,Penelosa v Gonzalez AND Hatton v Castillo all in the last 4-5 months, and NOT ONE of them rected like Oscar. They all drop down, look winded and stay there for a while.
2.)B Hop didn't even get that much leverage into the shot! I mean come on,it looked like a tap and also, the aforementioned guys stay on the canvas for a while, look winded. 1 minute Oscar is rolling around like he's been shot, not winded and then, after the count is over,he somehow manages to muster the energy to bang the canvas HARD. I've been winded,I've seen fighters winded,it takes EVERYTHING out of you,you don't have the energy to do ANYTHING at all!
Thats just an opinion,I'm not 100% sure but certainly is that doubt there.
-
Re: Fighters You Think Who Took A Dive
I think there atre two possible answers to that
1)Oscar did take a dive
or
2) He went down easy saw that the fight had slipped from him and just didnt bother get up for more

McNeely was over his head but he came to fight Tyson unlike many of Tyson Opponents. People forget but McNeely did not fight scared, he went toe to toe with Mike

Thats rediculous man, you can see the punch land on Berbick's temple. He just had his eqilibrium (sp?) thrown off. If it was a work, and he was taking a dive, why would he intentionally make himself look like an idiot? People still laugh when they see him stumbling around the ring like a drunk
I'm saying they are both similar LEGIT knockouts.
