what about the headbutt guys? i replayed the fight over and over again. would you think it was a punch that landed or that maybe MAB hit his head on pac's elbow while trying to clinch? but was barerra dirty? he hit low like about 4 times this fight.

MAB seemed content to survive. Roach was poor in the corner too,he didn't inject any sense of urgency into Manny.
I think the fame, the lifestyle has finally gotten to Manny. Put that version of Manny in with Soto,Guzman,JMM,he loses. Those guys are firing on all cylinders. Heck Valero would have given him hell.
Thank goodness for the war between Yusuf Mack and Librado Andrade on the undercard!!! And the McCline Peter and Santos Rivera fights. Far more exciting.
:coolclick: Totally agree. Manny looked like S*** last night...BUT...everyone does have a bad night.
CC back, everyone has a bad night but if you're P4P,you're going to judged a little bit harsher. If you're fighting a guy you KTFO before, again, the criteria ge4ts harsher. If the guy you are fighting just wants to survive, that puches the envelope even further. I hope Manny gets his fire back but maybe he has reached his peak, maybe the fame, the pressure and all the other distractions have gotten to him? We'll find out next fight but if I was JMM/GUZMAN/SOTO,I'd want him now!
if you've seen most of pac's fight, you'd observed that he usually doesn't do very well in significant fights when he's overwhelmingly favored to win as oppose to turning in some of his best performance when he's the underdog. so imo that played a role in this fight aside from the fact that he was weight drained and mab fighting on survival mode. i'm sure we'll see a different pac next time around when the odds are just about even or just slightly in his favor, better if it were stacked against him.
I have to disagree with that. He was almost a big a favourite to beat Morales the third time and he looked very good. He was favourite v Solis, demolished him. Ditto Velasquez. The second Morales fight 50-50,it was an amazing performance from Manny. I don't buy the favourite line, those are all significant fights and he did well in them,as the favourite.
He should have been able to cut off MAB and pin him on the ropes alot more. Surely in sparring they must have presumed MAB would move(possibly alot more than that!_) and worked on cutting it off..

Pac can't always please everybody. If you think Pac was boring last night, then what do you think no.1 p4p Floyd? Pac just didn't get the fight he wanted last night coz MAB was very cautious to trade.
Anyways, I'm just happy that FINALLY!... Pac won by a decision in US. He dominated most of the rounds, connected more, and inflicted more damages. JMM could'nt beat MAB convincingly, but Pac did it TWICE.
Pac can't always please but if ever there was a fight to please people in,it was this one. Fighting an older fighter, past his prime, someone he has already KTFO,Manny being hyped as supposedly being in his prime, and he gives us that.
Say what you want about Mayweather but he turned up the heat on Oscar in those last 4 rounds and hurt Oscar more than Manny hurt MAB.Neither fight was amazingly exciting and I like Manny more than I like Floyd but I'm not having double standards. There were threads slaughtering Mayweather after the Oscar fight, Manny didn't look too good to me either.
Imagine Mayweather fighting Oscar, beating him, knocking him out and then fighting him again. And imagine the second fight being a S*** performance and a boring fight? There would be an uproar!!!
Both Manny and Marco fought a different fight compare to their first one. Pac did an excellent job not to be counterpunched and avoid jabs. And MAB was smart enough to conserve his energy to survive 12 rounds. Marco difinitely learned from Erik's mistake if you know what I mean.

That was 100% caused by a left hook from Pac.

i think its just a bad case of mab to scared to get KD/KO and pac not confident with his stamina cause of troubles with his weight. both were gun shy but mab has more to lose.
agree, you also have to consider that 2 o pac's 3 losses was when he was weight drained and he got stopped both times. pac was also specially wary of marco's head and other foul tactics he might employ.
other than winning the fight, it was a good ending to barrera's career though.
Were you impressed by Manny KK or you letting this one slide? I didn't think of it like that but you could be right, maby Manny was scared he would get KTFO because his other losses came because of being weight drained? Awesome point. He still looked really poor though.
i was deeply disappointed as well but then i figured it had something to do with the things i mentioned. remember i was already concern about manny's being weight drained prior to the fight. turned out he was 3 lbs over the weight limit friday, lost 2 lbs on the threadmill then struggled to lose the last lb hours before the weigh-in. i think training in the philippines was a mistake cos manny never had problems making weight for superfeather before and usually comes in safely under the limit.
you have to understand about manny is that he's mostly really not the superior fighter over his opponents technically. he usually swamps his opponents with his speed, power and relentlessness and forces them to engage in powershots which is really quite exhausting. then his advantage of having the better conditioning and natural stamina takes over plus the fact that he's got the heart of a champion and is usually not afraid to stand toe to toe with anybody and being a natural athlete augers him well. so when the strong point of his game isn't a hundred percent then his performance would suffer significantly. roach is still working on the technical side of his game and is still a work in progress.

I tend to agree. I don't want to sound like sour grapes because I lost my bet, but Pacman could have been much more aggressive and made a more exciting fight of it; as MAB could have also.
In Pac's defense, I wonder what it's like for him to practically be a King in his native country and all the things that go with his type fame, and wonder if it has affected his focus now. Will be interesting to see his next fight.
Agreed.
Pac must get his sh*t straight before he face his next opponent. He must FULLY train next time. I wish he would stop his wild lifestyle and concentrate more in boxing rather than womanizing, gambling, politics... and STOP making record albums and movies... pleeaaassseee!!! :banghead:

Totally agree. I know I'm being harsh on Manny but please, understand,I'm a huge fan of his style. He is P4P one of the most exciting fighters in the world. After all the hype to this fight and all the talk from Pacs camp, you would have thought he would have done better.
KK,your points are legitimate and Manny should learn his lesson and not train back home again but still, all the talk from the Manny camp, about Manny's amazing sparring, him being bang on weight, calling him the best fighter in the world etc etc etc = heightened expectations. It was a poor performance in a fight he should have excelled in.
I just hope he learns his lesson, screws everything, the singing, the movies, politics and training back home and gets back to his best: giving us exciting fights and knocking guys out!

they can grow some balls first gamo, and if they are growing them from pacs performance last night then let them. Call it a bad night for pac but he still clearly won. pac didn't train as much as usual for this fight and it equaled to mabs wishes to brag about lasting 12 unlike eric.
jmm guzman soto and valero, could gain confidents now but once inside with pac I can only really see jmm lasting. No way would pac let anyone hurt him as what your trying to say cause he'll hurt them if they even try.

at the peak of manny's training in the p.i. he was really awesome. i've never really seen him as fast and as sharp before. i really thought he would blow barrera away. i think he might have peaked too early and the changed of venue in his training messed up his conditioning schedule. i mean why change a winning formula when he has always done so well training in the u.s.?

yea, for some reason pac prefers the phillipines maybe he just misses home. I also have a feeling pac and roach are not getting along as much as before ever since roach trained with oscar.

First of all, don't be calling me bitter when I've written on numerous times I much I like Manny. If you're going to post, don't post shit. Second of all,I'm not sure who the second best fighter is.I'll revise my opinion after all the big fights this year have finished.ANYONE,who knows ANYTHING about boxing knows that Floyd-Oscar was not an SD. No way. Mayweather won the last 4 rounds easily. I had 116-112.As did most. Mayweather is the best fighter in the world at the moment,as muchas it pains me to say that...
And I was just saying, going by that performance, going by the fact that Roach said Manny was looking better than ever and would electrify,it was a poor showing. A very poor showing. And going by this fight, I would think the guys I mentioned would want to fight Manny.
Guzman was calling out Manny at the press conference. He's also been working with Mayweather senior, working on his power. His defence could cause Manny problems. Especially if Manny is not going to be the monstor he has been before. As KKisser said, Roach is working on making Manny more technical but if he tried being technical with Guzman,he would lose.I have a feeling Manny and Roach are not on the same wavelength or certainly not as much as they used to be. Call it a gut instinct but the chemistry was not there. Roach looked lethargic in Manny's corner.
BTW,thanks for the SC Julius.

MAB seemed content to survive. Even his corner told him to pick up the pace at 1 point and told him to do more! The scoring was woeful in the sense that it was way too exagerrated in favour of Manny but I had him winning.
We'll find out next fight but if I was JMM/GUZMAN/SOTO,I'd want him now!
they can grow some balls first gamo, and if they are growing them from pacs performance last night then let them.
I like jmm to be the best beside pac and thats the fight that would really be a fight. I don't get how you would thing pac would get hurt by guzman ain't he like 35 now, pac will own him. valero is too green and prolly will never get any better, soto knock out pacs brother so your damn sure pac will come in wanting to murder him, that just leave jmm but the draw in the first fight could light a fire in pac so I can't really see pac coming into a fight undertrain again.
so who would you call the second best fighter of the world? base on that fight you'd think you can't call floyd best in the world with a s.d win over an even older oscar. come on now talk some real sense, your not bitter are you?
First of all, don't be calling me bitter when I've written on numerous times I much I like Manny. If you're going to post, don't post S***.

I agree that PBF is still no1 p4p. I don't think anyone here is debating that. And yes, Manny pissed off Roach a little bit. lol, Roach said to Manny "stop fooling around".

your welcome for the sad click I gave you, sorry I forgot to put one of these :sadclick: its for bitching about mabs last fight. I am glad he didn't get knock out and he lasted 12, and no I didn't call you bitter I ask you. What I'm saying is your bitching about pac not being second best after clearly winning a u.d and clearly undertrained, but you never talk about how floyd never look as dominant as pac usual do well not since the mitchell fight. yea ok maybe oscar wasn't a s.d win but it was a closer u.d win than pacs is on mabs. Your being to hard on the second best p4p fighter but you don't point out shyt about your belove maywheater. you got to be fair if you'll be hard on pac this much for one fight then how harder would you be on floyd atleast guys like me would think, but then again yea your only hard on pacman.
yea guzman is training with floyd sr. but he ain't look too good to has he? all i'm saying is your jumping into conclusion and your pretty much bashing pac and saying his not second best p4p for personal reasons. And you dare say the fight was poor and very poor, you should be proud mab didn't get knock out in his last fight. Well atleast eric went out blazing. pac did look poor and undertrain too bad mab still couldn't do shyt about it. could jmm or guzman or valero or soto. hell mab could beat any one of them so what in the world makes you think they can do any better then mab did?

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
I seldom have sad clicked in my time here but yours is well deserved, have one back. I would respond to your points but to be honest, they make no sense.
"My beloved Mayweather>" Read my posts again, you fucking deranged nuthugger,I've written time and time again that I like Manny more than Floyd.
"I should be proud MAB didn't get knocked out?" What the fuck are you talking about?
You're "glad the fight went the distance" Stop talking shit, you're making yourself look foolish.
Seriously,it's not even worth discussing these points with you,I'm not going to waste my time. I'll stick to discussing them with Pac fans that know their boxing like KKisser etc.

yo man I'm not even gonna go further with this with you, you've lost my respect after bitching about mabs last fight. yea yea yea you can talk shyt to me and curse at me but thats koo cause you got it good cause you've been here for a long time thats why your confident you can talk that way I know I can't cause all you got to do is give some talk to the boss and get me out cause I totally disagreed with your bitching.

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
I'm giving Pac a B+ for his performance last night. Marco didn't really cooporate that much to please the crowd. It always takes two to tango.

I have no reason to tell Saddo. This isnt school. I'm confident to talk like that because I know I'm right. Nothing to do with how long I've been here,I'd speak like this if it was my first post. I'm not the first person to get annoyed at you nor the last. I respect everyones opinion so long as they make valid points, read what is written and answer. From your posts,it's clear you did not read anything I wrote.
I'm not here to argue over nothing. I just enjoy talking boxing.

It's sad to see you and Rain arguing Gamo, what with you both being fellow faggots poetry lovers and all.
Maybe you could settle your differences by having a poetry face off or something, kind of like 8 Mile only much gayer :baeh:

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
I just finished watching it i didn't think it was that bad of a fight it wasn't a war but it was a good tactical fight and i quite enjoyed it and Barrera was not dominated and it was very competitve through first 9 rounds.

Have a coolclick strange new poster who appeared today in place of ICB and stole all his post count.
Wait until he comes back, he won't be happy to find his account stolen by an imposter :P

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
Just sat through some Pac fights & noticed one thing...he either needs to get into boxing or get out.
This half assed shit of pulling acting, politicing, & what not is hampering him inside the ring. He drilled Barrera the first go 'round & couldv'e last night...but it was obvious even in the pre-fight interviews that he was giving with Merchant it was apparent that he had little to no drive for the fight.
It's kinda shocking. I just don't get it. Look at him two years ago & look at him now.
Huge difference in mind, body, & soul.

Manny is only one or two fights away from a huge loss!

Excellent posting man, you have a trained eye. Glad you're not falling for the half ass baked fight we were given... I noticed the difference too and totally agree. He needs to get in all the way or out all the way.

Sums it up perfectly. ;D

Barrera was fighting very good tactical fight alot different from the first fight he fought better fight stayed on outside and made it hard for Pacquiao.

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
I thought Manny did ok, he was never remotely in any trouble and was always in control of the fight. He fought well within himself but he doesn't need to turn every fight into a brawl or try and go life and death when he's winning a fight comfortably anyhow.
I guess to some he may not look like the hungry fighter of a couple years ago but that hungyr fighter also lost to Morales and should have lost to JM Marquez.
I think you have too strong expectations of Manny to be honest.
He caught both Barrera and Morales on the tail ends of their careers and took advantage.
He has limitations and has always had them. I think he'd struggle to be Marquez but then I thought that before this weekend as well. I also think he would have struggled to beat prime Barreras and Morales'.
But he keeps winning and that's all that counts really. If an off day is pitching a virtual shutout against Barrera according to the judges scorecards then I expect both he and Freddir Roach will be pretty pleased.
At least now the old guard of Morales and Berrera has passed and we can see him in with the real prime fighters Marquez, Guzman, Soto maybe Diaz and Katsidis.

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
For myself, I was just expecting a war. I don't necessarily think MAB looked all that bad, just somewhat hesitant and really seemed to want to bang, but really wanted the win and stuck to his plan of trying to box Pac. Pac is the one that seemed off to me, not aggressive really, and seemed like both were trying to checkmate the other without either making a move ;D Can't say it was horrible, just I was so hyped it was a letdown excitement wise. All the glory to MAB for his career, and it was a long one, was just wanting to see him go out{especially in his last fight} as the warrior he's always been. Pac just needs to snap himself awake and get back to form. A decent fight, but not the one I wanted to see.

hello there. sorry I wasn't able to participate with your discussion. this discussion is not complete without the number one fan of pacquaio.hehehe.
Anyway, to be honest, I was a little bit disappointed with the way the fight ended. I was expecting a KO in the early rounds. Now, my theory had been proven. It went into the distance coz Pacquaio became contented with a UD and Barrera decided not to end his career with a humiliating KO. Watching the 12th round, it's apparent that both of them were becoming cautious and careful. They hardly traded punches during that round. and people were expecting them to go all out in that round. These are the reasons I was gravely frustrated with the fight. Most probably these are also some of the reasons why many are frustrated.

:coolclick: I think that is it in a nutshell. They both showed brief flashes where the fight almost threatened to ignite but Barrera clearly wasn't prepared to risk it all and go to war and Manny clearly wasn't going to go to war when he was winning the fight anyway.
That would be like asking the US to invade a country with tanks and infantry when instead they could just bombarded the S*** out of it with long range missiles, never going to happen.

Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
Simply put, Manny needed Barrera to exchange but Barrera did'nt and Manny did not pursue it as he used too. After seeing the fight on replay I enjoyed it better for Manny's side because he showed good defense except for Barrera's snappy counter punching. Barrera had a game plan and stuck with it which was not going to work if you cannot out score your opponent. Manny thew a lot of punches but Barrera was content on back pedaling and countering which was not enough for an aggressive opponent. I thought when I was seeing the fight live that it was way closer than what the judges saw but after seeing the fight for the second time I can almost completely agree with lederman except for the other two rounds that i thought Barrera won

I'm glad to see some honesty rather than blind nut hugging like some of the other Pac fans here. CC. I agree, it was frustrating,as a high % of posters here felt the same way. I just didn't see Manny in there. He looked a shell of himself, for what reason,I don't know. It's not even that I was expecting full out trading or a war,I wasn't,Barrerra is no Morales. CC though, you make a valid point.
