Why? According to Enzo's comments he has no problem with this level of opposition. He's not Haye.
And what comments have you heard exactly? i have done a good few interviews with him and he has called out cunningham over and over, cunningham has mentioned him about once and thats it. Even bell said hims elf when he was the wbc and wba champ they had been made good offers to fight enzo, he just had his eyes set ona rematch with JMM, that and kind promoted them both...
I think people sometimes let their disspointment speak for them before they think about things. AInt no one who wanted to see enzo fight cunninjgham more than me, or if not steve, but bell or carl, but i always knew it was a long shot... why? because warren trys to pad enzo? no... because this fight is on the undercard of a mian event where the purse is working out to be roughly 10 freaking million! Joe is set to get $5 from the kessler fight, and kessler wouldn't fight for less, both are getting 5 mill, that is hudge... Yes HBO are in this, but no F****** way are they fronting the cash they do when hopkins or other big names fight, it wont even be PPV anywhere...
The reason Enzo is on this undercard (his fight contract is with ITV not sentanta) is because this will be shown in the states, otherwise he would be on a card of his own. At 26 and a world champ he is still very young, it makes sense to get him as much Us time as poss, and he will be getting a damn good pay day as it is, and gav rees too... now considering there is no extra money in this really for enzo to be on this, guys like thompson, cunnginham and especialy bell are not going to fight for peanuts are they?
I know alot of the names that were looked at, and the truth is, if you can't get a "big name" you go for a guy who will make you look good, thats how boxing works. You can look bad and win agasint a big name and get credit, if you fight a no name, no matter how good they really are you better well F****** impressive or you get slated. Ding-dong is nobody, S*** bell is only a somebody in the us to the hard core fans, so you'd be fucked if anyone general give you credit for beating the ding-dong man...
Again, this isn;t the welsh man or friend defneding enzo, i'm as guttd as anyone this isn't a top name, but you got to look at this outside of the box, from a career point of view...
Preme you are so blinkered by Joke Calzaghe and anything welsh , im suprised Calzaghe and Enzo can walk to the ring comfotably with your head so far up there a***.
And its not a Welsh thing ???
fact is SELLERS IS NOT A CONTENDER PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WARREN IS A JOKE - WBO IS A JOKE
Thought you would of taken the hiunt by now, i don't read your posts, S*** i doubt anyone does... your a joke. Stop trying to act like i will listen to you or debate with you.
You are far better than i thought , u niether read or respond to my post , yet you just responded to my post ! lol
guess u must be a mind reader then you Welsh T.W.AT
and by the way talking of people taking you seriously ,
nobaoy apart from the welsh take the welsh seriously , hmm ,, maybe SHEEP DO :)

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
Really dissapointed with this. Why not fight O'Neill Bell ??
-
Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
This is a dissappointing match up however I see Enzo finishing this inside 3 rounds. Ezra has been stopped 7 times. That says it all for me.
Once Enzo hits him he will shatter his glass jaw.
-
Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
Hell, I would be scared of Wilson too after that last k.o. Enzo is kidding himself if he thinks Wilson's not worthy.

These comments -
"I've seen some of his (Sellers) knockouts and it makes for frightening viewing, but I'm confident I will win the fight and cement my position as the number one cruiserweight in the world.
"Over the next 12 months I want to unify the cruiserweight division, and I'm not going to let Sellers shatter my dream.
"It's more than likely I'll have to go into the trenches like I did against Braithwaite, and I can guarantee all my fans I'll soak up his best and come roaring back twice as hard.
Not only does Enzo regard himself as the BEST in the world, beating guys like Sellers PROVES it! He sees this as a tough fight.
Yes Enzo was always going to have a S*** opponent. Everyone knew that. But there's levels of shitness, and this isn't far above Bobby Gunn, and deserves to be ridiculed. Especially when you have another young guy in Britain seeking out THE very best man in the division.
You're the only person ive come across trying to defend this fight. Why? It's absolutely pathetic for a supposed "world" championship defence.
To be fair to Enzo, he has to big the fight up. He can't sit there and say "well this guy is another Bobby Gunn I've been fed to make me look good!"
O'Neill Bell is MIA at the moment. He pulled out of a fight a while ago and I've heard no news since.
Cunningham shit out. I wondered why Macc didn't try for Adamek before.
However...I agree there are much better opponents than Sellers. What are Marco Huck, Guillermo Jones, Krysztof Wlodarczyk and Matt Godfrey doing? Even shutting Darnell Wilson up would have been better.

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
This is a terrible match that shouldn't be made.
I doubt that it's Enzo's fault he's fighting a bloke who's only win in the last 4 years was against some who'd lost 6 of the last 8.
The WBO should be kicked up the arse for ranking Sellers.
-
Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
I would have looked forward to Maccarinelli-Wilson, guess it was a risk/reward problem
Sellers-Thompson was fun but how long ago was that? Even then he was a bit shaky.

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
Enzo has spoken with the press on the forthcoming matchup, he has been quoted saying "This is the man who could beat me." He has expressed his nerves going into the fight as he feels that Sellers may well have the tools to beat him!
Is he genuine in these sentiments or trying to publicise the fight?

Probably just to publicise it. Though sellers can bang, and he might get lucky.
Enoz needs to get a big fight next though. We'll wait and see if Preme is right, perhaps they are waiting til Enzo is not on an undercard to get a real opponent. Probably makes more sense for the promoter to get two big nihjts than one, also makes senese for Enzo to attempt to unify when he's in the spotlight, rather than just a starter before the main course.
But still doesn't take away from the fact that Sellers hasn't remotely earned this shot.

Perhaps it is the undercard issue, when I spoke with Enzo earlier this year the one thing he emphasised was how much he'd love to headline a show at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, and I'm pretty convinced that he could get many local fans out to support him there.

He's forever mentioning that! I guess it must be a boyhood ambition.
He's a truely nice chap, ive met him on two occasions and he is the most receptive and friendly professional boxer i have ever met.

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
What would have made more sense that Sellars would have been a rematch with Lee Swaby. I know he's not in the same class, but Enzo could avenge a defeat that would make his record faultless. Even this, would have meant more than fighting Ezra Sellars.

True enough, I'm sure Swably would be glad of the opportunity and Enzo would be glad to wipe flaw off his record.

The only problem is there is no roof onn the Liberty stadium.

You and I both know that it never rains in Wales.....

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
He deserves to fight in Swansea instead of Cardiff to get a decent crowd.
I went to his last fight at the C.I.A and it was only half full. It seemed that even Gavin Rees had more fans there than Enzo.

You quite clearly don't know the answer, otherwise you wouldn't be magicking one up out of the air like a schoolkid dreaming up an excuse why his homework wasn't done.

:lolhaha: schooled! Have #695 Mr Rhun.

Re: Maccarinelli gets geriatric Sellers
Someone like Herbie Hide would have been great (for me at least).. but not only do I believe they wouldn't let Hide near Enzo, if they did they would probably sell it as a big headling fight.

Good call.

How active is Herbie at the moment tho?
If Enzo fought Herbie in swansea, id go see it think.

Hide has been bashing-up "bums" in Germany of late

I reckon that would be a good match-up for both fighters, but I doubt the management of either one would be too keen on it. German promoters like to keep their fighters at home, and Warren might not think Hide still has enough of a name to headline a show like this. I reckon it'd have to be an unification for Enzo to headline.

Bah shush, of course I don't think Sellers is a big enough fight for Enzo, but I found your turn of phrase interesting and thought I'd reply. The fact that O'Neil Bell has pretty much been AWOL over recent months seems a more plausible reason than yours.
