Shit! I hate these kind of topics cause you always feel like you left out about 5 names... :-\
Here goes then.....
Jorge Paez - Tho I was only 5 when I attended one of his fights in Mexico, I became a huge fan as my uncles & dad watched him fight on tv in Mexico we followed his entire career from the Zorro costume, the nun, the bride, the 'No Smog' haircut up until his last fight. A fighter and yet and entertainer a true GREAT in my books.
JCC - What can I say I mean from being at my uncles house charging 5 dlls. at the door and hosting all of his fights. Watching him get beat by MTaylor and then doing one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in boxing to watching him get beat for the 1st time against Randall and almost being in tears. To his last fight.
Alexis Arguello - Class act guy, as a fighter and as a person. The 1st Arguello fight I saw was agains Royal Kobayashi where Alexis put on a clinic. Now I've seen a lot of Alexis fights and it seems like it's getting harder and harder to get a hold of now that I have somewhere to store them. Alexis IMO will forever be underrated in skill and P4P status.
I'll post about a more recent one.
Rafael Marquez - I gotta say what shitty management I mean for his 1st pro fight he fights Rabanales?? WTF? That's insane... Anyway he gets past that and moves on. I remember seeing him fight 'Too Sharp' man those were some goood as fights right there. Too Sharp had his moments and was fighting dirty but Rafa started fighting fire with fire and while Too Sharp was moving well Rafa was able to catch him with some solid punches and rocked Too Sharp bad and had him on spaghetti legs.... The fight when to the cards and Too Sharp was announced the winner but the scores were added wrong so they tallied up the points and Rafa was awarded the win. They rematched months later and Rafa put an end to the contreversy by KTFO! Too Sharp in the 8th round. 8)
I'll give you 2nd sc for that ridiculous post.Quote:

He had a style that was nothing like I'd ever seen before, absolute speed, power and precision, he was all muscle and menace and he was absolutely TERRIFYING ..... he's go after people like they said something bad about his mother.
I saw his 4th pro fight and immediately knew that this was a great great fighter just waiting to happen ..... he ended up dominating the heavyweight circuit for nearly 20 years.
He seems ok.Quote:

Thanks Mick.
I think for a lot of people Mike is the obvious one from 80s to late 90's he was getting people hooked into boxing.Quote:

This is going to sound stupid but when i was really young I used to like Kirkland Laing. I was only about 7 or 8 though.

he gets owned by the first top fighter he fights.
Marco Antonio Barrera - When I saw him beating seven shades out of Mckinney I couldnt wait to watch him again . Knew he'd be the guy to beat Nas and just thought he was a great in the making
Sugar Shane Mosley - I wasnt fan to begin with when I first started watching him but when I saw how blatantly talented he was, I became a believer. Sugar Shane in his prime is pretty unbeatable . Cant think of any fighter in history that could have beaten him at lightweight
kelly pavlik!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Surprise, surprise, surprise!!! ;D Never would have guessed. :)Quote:

I don't think I've ever seen such an animal,I can honestly say Mike was one of the few fighters that came across as genuinely scary as in 1 hit and he could kill you/knock you unconscious scary. He was a little Hulk! I mean physically even, you look at him and thought WTF?! Has there been such a physical specimen in boxing?!
This is an awesome thread!!!! :D :D :D
I'd like to add JMM too. Oddly, the first fight I saw of his was against Manny. I ordered a MAB career set,saw Manny, ordered his career set,saw his fight with JMM and was blown away. I went back, saw some of JMM's older fights and have been a fan since. He is much more exciting to watch now then he was then imo.before he used to be a PURE counter puncher,I mean I seldom saw him lead. Now he leads ALOT more.
Its amazing how learning about different boxers is a "Thread" in and of it self.It really is an ongoing education.Like finding a prize when you realize how many talents there are out there to see.Quote:

Pavlik, we have the same plan. Next to Pacman, Pavlik is the man.Quote:

Thanks for the support Kel. Were you the one who gave me a cool click, or did I snag Jennifer Lopez?
event though i only seen abouy like 3 of his fights Michael Ninn when he ko Kalambay that was vicious it a shame about his career though O0
After Nigel Benn, Paul Hodkinson. Never quite made it, but was pure excitement. Then, low quality, sugar ray leonard and mike tyson.
Tyson was pure excitement. The way he moved his head, his combinations and his power - stunning. The one fighter who would have beat him - Holmes off the jab.
It was about ten years ago.
An amateur fight just before he turned pro.
Everyone was talking about him and there was a heap of press there! At an amateur fight!
And in the fight itself Ricky Hatton kicked the living s**t out of some opponent who's name escapes me.
Seen every fight since and i get awful nervous every time i see him box!
I have said my one was JCC but Tyson and Roy Jones were amazing and from todays fighters it has to be Israel Vasquez. The fight with Jhonny Gonzales was action packed and some people were booing, idiots. These are the type of people that that would boo during the Gatti v Ward fight.
