Still, don't see him winning this. Although you can get 100/1 per round for a Reid KO. Tempting considering I would expect him to bounce a few off Froch's bonce.
I agree, a quid on each of the rounds for Reid could be an idea, because we've never seen Froch properly pressured and shipping punches thrugh his guard, and Reid might shock him, but I also agree its unlikely. Looking forward to this one now...should be decent.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
I can't get that Aussie sheep farmer Westerman smashing Froch - and seeming to hurt him at one point - constantly early in their fight.. Think they'll always be doubts about his leaky defence
But surely Reid is too far past it....
-
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Reid has to go at him early and will imo which will make Carl put it back on him early doors....this alone will make it an explosive fight!!
Reid is always gonna have a punchers chance early on against anyone in the division.
Well worth a few little bets that 100-1 buisiness ;)
Reid will blow out his ass after 3 or 4 then Froch will put the killer blows together :)

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Froch should win comfortably, but the guy is becoming the Junior Witter of 168, what his obession with Calzaghe similar to the one Witter has with Hatton?
Froch says he is going to do a number on Reid something Joe couldnt do HAHAHAHAH!! Carl that was nearly ten years ago, but Froch actully thinks Calzaghe is scared of him, the guy is a grade A wanker.
He is 30 years old and fighting Robin Reid for peanuts for the British Title, Calzaghe is one of HBO's main boys and top 5 p4p going on to fight big names for millions of pounds. I wish someone would shut Froch the fuck up, he needs to start showing some fucking repsect and also should have a word with his promotional team to why he is still messing about with the British title at 30 years old if he is the elitest boxer he believes he is?

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
I hope Reid wins but Froch will probably take Reid to the cleaners.

One word mate: Politics. Froch has stuck with his team, and with Warren's stranglehold on British boxing it has put him at a significant disadvantage, which has left him with opponents that aren't recognised and him struggling to drag himself up the rankings. I'm sure they've tried to get an eliminator sorted, but for now Reid will keep the accountants from the door and him in ink to put rubbish fake advertising tattoos on his chest.
I still believe that Froch's next fight if he wins will be for a world title after Calzaghe vacates all three belts which will really mix things up at SMW.

I think it possibly will be mate, i agree politics. But its just the way he runs his mouth it pisses me off, and he backs it up with bullshit like " im going to do a number on Reid that Calzaghe couldnt do"
WTF?? You would think the Reid Calzaghe fight took place about 6 months ago not getting on for 9 years!!

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Im more intrigued than excited by this fight, I know alot of younger posters here like Froch because of his arrogant attitude and reckless style, they also feel that Robin Reid will be treated like some fragile rag doll because of the Lacy fight, in fact the predictions from the same posters are running along the same lines.
I can see a russty Froch being btaken the distance by a world experienced fighter, Reid will not be a walkover, he has pride and wont want to lose face to Froch, his previous losses have all been to fighters who have been world champions, 2 were contraversial 2 were because he fought like he didnt want to be there and only Reid knows what happened in the Lacy fight but the first knockdown in that fight and the first of his career came from an ilegal punch, a full blooded right hook to the side of Robs jaw while he was facing the ref away from Lacy, recieving instructions, like I said Reid had never been down before so was obviously hurt and just couldnt get back in to it, although it went 3 more rounds after the first knockdown.
Carl doesnt pressure like Lacy did and Reid will not be like a startled rabbit like all Frchs stoppage victims who had no clue how to fight, Rob knows all the tricks, Froch aint dealt with em yet and im still sceptical about how much Carl has been able to train or how hard hes been pushing himself because of the knee surgery and the quality of his sparring if any.
Im pretty sure all Carl and Rob McCrackens hyping of Reid is just to hype the fight rather than they actualy see him as a threat, they like the less informed here see the Lacy fight and are banking on Carls power, well if Carl aint been putting the work in or prepared for a hard battle then he is going to fall flat on his face ;)

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Ross did Carl bully you at school, whip your ass in the ring (sparring) or even in a fight or something..?
Why do you disslike him so much fella?
Must be some deep routed bitterness within you son.
Froch is A UK fighter so get behind him for f*cks sake.
Or are you a Reid family member ;D

Because he's waiting till Calzaghe moves up to light-heavy before he moves up to world class.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
i expect Froch will be to fast for reid but iam hoping that he gets caught and gets ko'ed.I recon though if Froch wins we are gonna hear how good he is and hes the best fight at 168 .He needs to step up into world class instead of fighting fighters that arnt in the top 10 in the world
-
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Froch should beat Reid, but I'm not too sure if he can stop him. Either way,I don't see what this fight will prove. He would have been better served fighting one of the other numerous top contenders in what is increasinly becoming one of boxings premier divisions.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
How long 'til the fight gets underway?
Getting a little hungry and want to know how much time I have to go grab something to eat.
Thanks.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Smash Carl is a joke, to say hes british is even more of a joke, if someone were to ask me who some good british boxers were I wouldnt bring him up because he aint good, win or lose tonight he hasnt proved hes good.
In 6 years and in his 30's this is the closest hes got to fighting world class and the general concessus feeling is that the fight is a foregone conclusion, well that says it all, he hasnt even opened the garden gate to walk up the path let alone knocking on the door of world class ;D
Theres probably some big scary dog in the garden, probably Reid

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Ok, so the previews have just started here on sky, and both of the guys are talking the talk, with Froch throwing his usual bigmouth statements out there, and Reid saying all the right things too. Ringwalks are just around the corner.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Robin Reid comes in to a chorus of boos, and Phil Collins' "Coming in the Air tonight". A reference to his rumoured appearances as a porn star perhaps. He looks ripped, focussed and fired up, and I definitely don't think that he thinks he's there for an easy paypacket.
Carl Froch's entrance is so dramatic, letting the atmosphere build for a minute as "We Will Rock You" builds up. Then a portcullis raises before him, to see him standing in black hood and cape, and the crowd explodes in welcome. Sounds like an amazing atmosphere in there.
As he comes into the ring, Froch walks straight into Reid and theypush against each other for a minute, before the ref pushes them to their respective corners. I'm starting to fancy those 100-1 shots on a Reid KO. Next up, round 1.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Froch will win if he keeps his range on the outside and stays active. He should be able to dictate the action there and throw those rangy bombs of his. im thinking round7-9 ko for Froch.
-
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Reid will spoil and be messy and rely purely on the hook!
I gave up with Reid years ago. Great physic, not great skills!
Wow love the sound of Futch's entrance music. Sounds massive!

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
They both get a "reception" when they're announced, just that Reid's is a chorus of boos and Froch is a deafening roar. Froch says a quick word to Reid as they touch gloves.
Round 1:
Reid immediately looks to leap in past Froch's long punches, getting into a clinch, then a left hook as he comes out of there. Froch being fairly cagey wih long jabs not landing, then Reid charging in quickly again, almost running in. Good hard jab from Reid, then a body shot within the clinch. He's tying Froch up, and throwing annoyning little digs. Reid gets in again. Froch popping out the jab, but Reid wont let himself get caugh. Another bit of a wrestle, and Reid puts in to the body. Froch with a short hook in the clinch. Junior Witter looking a little bored at ringside. Froch with a nice left hook.
I think Reid did the better work in that one, spoiling a lot on the inside.
10-9

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Round 2:
Overhand right from reid, but more of a rangefinder. Reid taunts Froch. Reid with a body shot, then catches two Froch jabs on his glves. Body shot in a clinch from Reid. Reid with a short flurry, landing another right.Froch with two shots that just slip over Reid's head. As Reid comes in, Froch pings a hook as he steps aside. Two good more body shots from Froch. Reid warned for a rabbit puinch, and Froch is coming in with some good long shots. Froch attacks again, and a big right puts Reid down. Ref says no knockdown....legs were tangled, but it was a punch for me. They clash shoulders as they return to their corners.
19-19 if we're not counting the knockdown.

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Round 3:
Reid looking to duck under Froch's punches, and lands a couple of hooks to the body. Decent hab from Froch. Two boy shots from Reid as Froch falls short. A Reid body shot and they clinch. Froch getting jabs caught on the gloves. Reid with a few more body shots, and takes an elbow in the clinch. Rf warns them both. Reid with a flurry, including a nice left, but Froch comes bakc with fie good straight shots upstairs, then a body shots. Great exchange. Reid's body shots as he goes into the clinch looking a little wearied, but still scoring. The both miss as Reid comes in and Froch slips sideays. Good jab and upperhook from Froch. Froch pushes Reid back with some good hooks, and Reid goes down on the bell.
29-27 to Froch, with that last minute knockdown

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Round 4:
Reid compses himself and comes out with a few more body shots. Reid with a charge in and more body shots, but gets caught with more of Froch's right hooks and jabs, but Reid cathces Froch with a body shot and a right hook up top as he comes in. Reid looking to duck under shots aain. Nice uppercut from Froch. Another left uppercut, and Froch grows in stature. Another jab. Reid lands a huge winging overhand right, Froch doesn't look that flustered, but still looked mean. Froch looking riled however, coming forward with big shots, hooks especially, but Reid comes bock with body shots. Reid with some good shots in return, espacially a right hand that would have crippled lesser men.
Tight round, call it evens, though if forced to pick i'd pujt it to froch.
39-37

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Round 5:
Froch gets caught on the way in again. They get into a clinch after Froch's jabs repeatedly find gloves, and Reid with some body shots. Another clinch, and more body shots from Reid. Good stright right from Froch, but Reid covers up quickly. Froch's jab isn't doing as much as it could, but this round is quieter now. Reid with a body shot. Froch just bnot doing anything. However, comes forward with two body shots and a hook, mabye one body shots landing. Good right from Froch, but Reid ducks under with more body shots. Froch pierces the guard with a straight right, and that was a surprise. Froch loking to come in.
Before that knockdown, i had Reid ahead, but Froch 10-8
49-45
