Re: Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz (Spoiler)
Casa won at least 4 of the last 6 rounds. I gave him the 3rd as well and there were some uneventful rounds that could have gone either way. Casa keeps things negative and picks away wth little shots that a half-drunken fan waiting for the main event won't really notice but a judge has to recognize.
People who had it 10-2 or something ridiculous are the kind of fans who score fights in generality and don't really watch the action, which happens to be most fans.

I think you'er a bit off there. Sober or drunk anyone could pretty much see Joel doing nothing but hold and block Cruz's punches with his head. Casamayor looked old and shot.
Re: Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz (Spoiler)
Its been clear for a while he's slipping, the Pearson fight, he didn't even look that good in the last Chico fight.
I was a fan at one time, not a huge fan but I've rooted for him in a lot of his fights but that was horrible. Run and hold, run and hold.
WTF was Steve Smoger waiting for? Take a point, take two points, disqualify him for the excessive holding. I usually like Smoger but him congratulating Casa on breaking cleanly after one of his 800 clinches was ridiculous. The ridiculous thing is he didn't need to fight that way, Santa Cruz is not that good at all, Casa could have held his ground and beaten Santa Cruz with shorter, straighter punches. Although listening to Steward rationalize it was kind of funny.
I was pretty much certain before the fight that he couldn't beat Juan Diaz at this stage of his career, now I'm about as certain as you can possibly be about a "big" fight.

That's a somewhat accurate description of most of the first half of the fight, and since there was no dramatic turn around, people stopped really paying attention by the time Casamayor started to win rounds. Are there any ringside/AP scorings of the fight?
Also, Casa was getting hit, but I just didn't see these tons of clean punches he was taking.
Re: Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz (Spoiler)
Casamayor is shot, although being inactive for so long didn't help. He was given a nice easy tuneup before fighting a Diaz and lost badly. No timing, no snap, no nothing. He looked old and finished. The players at lightweight will be queuing up to fight him now.

One of the worst decisions I have seen in a long time. Decisions like this are ruining boxing for me. The fix was in on this one for sure. What a crock of S***.
Cool Click..Greig. its shit like this that hurts boxing.. Casamayor fights like puff. I didnt have him winning a round. . the judges should be shot.

The Institute for the Blind{or sight impaired} is getting out in the workforce and happily contributed to last nights judging at the Santa Cruz/Casamayor fight. The scorecards were in Braille. There next contribution will be in the form of referees. 8)
Re: Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz (Spoiler)
When your 36 and take a year off, it makes for a bad combination. Casamayor was clearly rusty. That was obvious. The fight was uneventful. But to call it a robbery is ridicules. Santa Cruz came forward all night. But by no means did he dominate. He never hurt Casamayor (the knock down was bogus). And a lot of the rounds were similar. I actually scored the fight for Cruz. But only by a round. I got no problem with Casamayor getting a so-called gift win. He's been robbed of 4 wins in his career. It's about time he caught a break.

Yeah, and if you scored it for Cruz, then he got beat bad, and it was robbery. Fair enough to say he deserves a break. At least you admit it was a gift win.
