'The Cat' was not elite but he was def. someone whom you opponents under estimated.
Eubank was well past it and loosing to Carl at that stage in his career is
just another example of a fighter fighting for too long.
Think you and I had the discussion about Haye-Carl... Can't remember if it was you.
But anyway it wasn't too big of a surprise to see Carl spark out Haye.
They wanted to see where Hate stood at that moment in time and they found out. They pulled him out of the fight before Carl did some serious damage to him. He learned from that loss. Also if you look at Carl at that time he was on a roll. Since his comeback he went 6-0 knocking out some pretty good prospects/contenders there. Rothman & Haye....
That night they found out Haye needed some work they went back to the drawing board and tried to correct the errors that were made on that night.

Never thought Thompson was that much to be honest, yes he was big puncher and yes he was exciting, his fight with Sellers was amazing. But never thought much of him as a fighter. But im not taking anything away from Eubank he took flush punches off big punching Cruiserweight like Thompson and even floored him. I remember watching that fight when i was young that was one of the best fights i've ever seen i would love to see that again can't find it anywhere though.

Thompson was 40 years old the only reason that stuck Haye in with Thompson. Is because they thought it would be easy victory for Haye because of Thompson's age plus all of the ring wars he had and Thompson was respected name at Cruiserweight, so it would look good on paper for Haye. But Thompson had more left in the tank than Haye's team thought, i was certainly surprised Thompson beat Haye who was red hot prospect with perfect KO record at the time. But like i have said in the past, in a way its good he fought and lost to Thompson because he improved a lot after that fight.

Re: Washed up fighters who put on a good fight!
How about Simon Brown's KO over Norris. I wouldn't say he was washed up but certanly passed his prime. Big upset that one.

Nah Brown wern't really past his prime he was only 30, plus the only fighter he had lost to in years before Norris fight was James "Buddy" McGirt, i think people underrated Brown's chances in that one considering he is quite a big puncher and Norris always had weak chin.

Well I was a lot younger back then and was not sure. I do remember it was a big upset. Think it was upset of the year on Ring Mag. right?

Right, your comment came across down playing Thompson.
And cutting him short. Thompson always had the punchers chance....
You also gotta see the Rothman fight. ;)

Good call here....
Def. Simon was a shadow of himself compared to what he had been as a Welter and beating Norris was BIG.
Good one.

Barrera vs. Morales weren't washed up. Barrera was great that night.
Morales' next appearance after that fight was a victory over Pacquiao.

I think that was more a case of Norris taking him way to lightly. But credit to Brown he did get the win and stoppage. But Norris embarrassed him over 12 shut out rounds in the rematch

Great call on this one.
No doubt Mick...Wayne went in green and facefirst. An example of why he would make alot of fans. Rabanales a case of never judge a fighter on his record.

Re: Washed up fighters who put on a good fight!
Ras-I Bramble "L" 10 to Oba Carr! USA Tuesday night fights actually had the fans call in toll free and vote for Carr next opponent Lol on air.
May have had pre-determined match up for network but in this case I doubted It.
Bramble went on to take Oba to school and come within one punch in round 1 of ending him.Had Carr down twice and hurt bad, really good war.Thought Brambled won this one but Carr really stood his ground.

Re: Washed up fighters who put on a good fight!
I could be wrong, but when brazilianbomber started this thread, I think he meant fights where BOTH guys were washed up (like Jones-Trinidad).
A lot of the fights I'm seeing here are fights where only one guy was past his prime.

well i think you maybe right cause the title does say fighter(s) with an (s) letter, which does mean both fighterss must of been wash up and they both put on a good fight.
