Hughes does not look that tired and am surprised this is still going after the 4th but this is Pickering's round and Hughes will need a KO to win this fight which is highly unlikely.

Esham pickering 10-9 here.

Jab from Hughes. Hughes gets caught with a left hook then a flush right. Hughes has an amazing chin. Jab from Hughes ineffectual, as Pickering returns a nice right hook. Another right to the side of Hughes' head. Good jab and straight right from Hughes, and he gets a little boost. More jabs. Pickering finds gloves with a left. Right hook again from Pickering. Pickering is more patient now. Right to the body, then a bit of a wrestle, with an uppercut on the inside. Good left hook from Pickering, but Hughes is on steady legs. Uppercut and body shot from Pickering.

Round 9:

Going into the final third, I feel tired just watching this. Good short hooks from Pickering, as he looks to get in and work the body and uppercut. Hughes pushed back, three big hooks rock Hughes head back. Pickering looking to finish it, and the ref steps in.

Hughes still on his feet, and not too happy with the stoppage. Probably a decent decision, with Hughes head lolling back a little.

Good win for Pickering, great fight, fantastic advert for British boxing.

I can't say it often enough, but I love British boxing on nights like this. Amazing fight, commitment from both guys, resilience, determination, stubbornness and it was just the total antithesis of Skelton v Sprott involving tomorrow night's protagonist. Superb stuff, and exactly what why there needs to be a boxing scene outside of Frank Warren's domain of mismatches.

As for the post fight interview....here's what Esham Pickering had to say:
"It was better than last time, but there's still a little to work on. I thought I was lacklustre at times, but I won the fihgt and I'm happy with that. He did have an awkward style, though not necessarily a puncher. THere's a lot more to come from me, now I've avenged that loss. I'm still British champion and I have one more fight till that belt's mine for keeps."

Totally agree Rhun I love the British domestic fights Sky put on and have a CC for your hard work on the RBR, a great fight to watch in all.

Chagaev is hard to valuate...Thats why I definitely want to see this fight...
I think Chagaev is one of those guys who grow with a challenge...could be that he takes Skelton
to easy and that it will be a sloppy fight from Chagaevs side...

The programme has started but i don't know what time the fight starts. Frank Maloney (David Haye's promoter) is in the studio and reckons Skelton will get DQ as he will get that frustrated with Chagaev style, he says Chagaev can rule the heavyweight division and referred to Skelton as having "No-Chance" whatsoever.

Should be a good fight and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm still thinking Skelton might spring a surprise, but then again we got JohnnyKickAss and Frank Maloney telling us that Skelton can't win. ;)

The site seems pretty slow now. Looks like we're having the ringwalks now. A fair few cheers for Skelton on his way out to some reggae music. Skelton seems o be struggling to suppress his excitement walking out. Smiling, confident, and the cheers of the British fans. Chagaev on the way out next.

Chagaev looking mean and focussed, and I see what they mean about the German crowd not etting too excited about it. Chagaev is pacing, and there some giant standing behind him holding his belt. Next up its fight time.

No boos from the Brits to the German National Anthem.

Round1:

They bothe feel each other out early doors. CHagaev looks to pop a jab. Skelton goes forward finding guard mostly, but digs in to the body well. Chagaev looking to go inside too with some body shots, but Skelton getting in too. Skelton told to keep his punches up. Chagaev's wairtband is up on his bellybutton anyway. Good left hook to the body from Chagaev. Skelton pushing CHagaev back, and digging in body shots and short hooks up top. Chagaev's jab seems a little gentle and looping. Good counter right from Skelton. Chagaev doesn't seem to be coming forward much. Skelton with another right hook. Jabn and straight right from Skelton, but a counter gets through. Ref tells chagaev to keep his punches up.

He hasnt frozen . He went forward let his hands go and outworked the champ .

Yep good first from Skelton pushing the action there.

Round 2:

The ref looks a bit of a drama king. Skelton ploughing forward with right hands again, and closing well. Right hand flush from Skelton, and Chagaev a little ring rusty it seems. Skelton with another straight right, then a clinch and a left hook from the clinch. Good straight right again from Skelton, then an uppercut in the clinch. REf warned skelton for holding behind the head. Skelton doing more on the inside, but Chagaev looking to step back and loose off hooks. Straight right again for Skelton doing well. Chagaev pwing, but a good hook from him lands. Chagaev pulled in by Skelton and hooked on the inside. Skelton warned for use of the head now.

Chagaev a little better, but he still isn't matching Skelton for me.
20-18

WOW Matt's doing pretty well here and Chagaev seems surprised, round to Matt again.

Chagaev knows he is in a fight now if he didnt b4 .

Round 3:

Sounds dead in the arena. Chagaev's jab needs to be much better to keep Skelton off. They clinch, and Skelton going to the body each time. As Chagaev backs out, Skelton hooks to the body, then a left hook up top. Skelton is outworking this guy so far. Chagaev circling Skelton, and looking for a way in . Skelton counters Chagaev well. Better jab from Chagaev, but one decent one from 8 or 9 isn't good enough. They get close again, and Skelton digs in the short uppercuts and body shots. Great lef lands flush from CHagaev, but Skelton gets in tight and boddy shots again. Skelton warned for pushing Chagaev down. Short uppercuts, and a good flurry to the body from Skelton, and a good uppercut.

Skelton's got the first three in my book.
30-27 (might be 30-27 in the scorers books though :p )

I give that round a draw and what a shot Cgagaev landed with that left but Skelton is still landing.

30-28 Matt

Matt warned again . He may get a point deduction sometime soon but so far he is ahead . 3-0

He is boxing in and out and looks like hes trying to win on points . Hes taking Chagaevs shots easy .

Round 4:

Good left lead from Chagaev. Skelton puts in a couple of decent jabs though. Skelton lands a hook as Chagaev comes in. Left hook from Chagaev. Straight right from Chagaev, then a left. Chageav with a hook to the body, then another. Good right hook from Skelton doesn't shift Chagaev. Skelton still working well, but needs to step it up a bit more now. Body shot from Skelton. CHagaev with a lovely left hook, and Skelton ties him up. Skelton moves forward but straight into the clinch. Good straight right, then a left and an uppercut from Skelton. Great straight left from Chagaev. Skelton with a hook, but takes and uppercut from Chagaev.

Chagaev's getting going now.

Becoming scrappy now . Chagaev turned it on in that 4th round . Looking sharper .Matts reaching with his shots now

I gave the 4th clear to Chagaev he's starting to get into a rhythm now and his left hand is catching Matt on occasions.

39-38 Matt

Round 5:

Cagey opening to this one. Good jab uppercut from Skelton. Short right hook from Skel, and Chagaev trying to draw him in. Chagaev lands the left, but takes a hook too. Good left from both land simultaneously. Skelton digs in a jab and an uppercut. Good right then a left from Chagaev, and Skelton looking worried there. Right from Chagaev, and they clinch, and Skelton digs away. Uppercut from Chagaev, then a body shot, and Skelton seems to be slowing. DEcent left hook from Skelton then an uppercross in the clinch. Skelton still working hard on the inside. Chagaev swining hard and landing Big left hook again, and Skelton shaky at the end.

Matts getting owned now ! Chagaev is unloading on him and it looks like theyre in different leagues now the champ has got started .

Matt will do weel to win another round now . The crowd are onto Matts hugging tactics too . It looks a long way back from here .

I gave the 5th also to Ruslan, Matt is just coming in and holding and Ruslan is landing some good flush shots.

Skelton with a jab and straight right, but Chagaev counters. Good flurry of two hooks to the body then one up top from Skelton. Chagaev counters. Body shot from SKelton. Chagaev with a good left, but Skelton is tying up well and working away at the inside. Another decent left from Chagaev. Skelton body shot, and Chagaev breathing with his mouth open. Jab from Skelton as Chagaev coming in. Good jab from Skeltong, but ships a big left on the way in. Good right to the body, then left from Chagaev. Another left, and Skelton is desperately trying to stay in this one. Body shot then an uppercut from Skelton on the inside. Chagaev's hooks are often landing on the arms. Uppercut from CHagaev.
