You mean the debate they had at the Cotto vs Mosley fight?
Stewart was spot on and Kellerman was just hating on Cotto. Manny was making a solid comment of the WW div and KEllerman only said. "It is what is"
Manny won that debate.

I can completely understand why Manny gets irratated by Kellerman correcting him....Manny's done it all and worked hard to get where he is.
I'm not suggesting Kellerman didn't but Kellermans knowledge is observational, stewards is from Blood sweat and bruising in the fight game.
No I think it was the Calzaghe vs Kessler...Steward was very pro-Calzaghe,
while Kellermann stayed pretty neutral...don't know how it happened, but Steward said something stupid, wrong or exaggerated and Kellermann just said what happened and Steward didn't like it at all...Steward is a pretty arrogant ass sometimes...compliment to Kellermann for staying his ground...
I didn't read every post but i will say this.
I can see how people can think he's annoying because sometimes he can come off as an over enthusiastic know it all.
As far as i'm concern he's one of the best commentators out right now. I put him right behind Al Berstien. Not only does Max know the fighters but he knows the politics of boxing.
When you read a novel, a reader becomes aware of 'author intrusion' which means that the writer is imposing his voice and opinion on the story. Well that's Max. Yap Yap Yap
I think it's because the Baller_27-esq rap video he did when he was younger.
dunno why, he is just annoying
I hate MAX he is always biased of his favorite.
This video is a rare commet and I think it will be the last time he will say something like that.

I think most people's problems of announcers like Max stem from the fact that those guys like "The Sweet Science" and the average boxing fan likes punchers and brawlers.....very few find a happy middle ground, Roy Jones Jr being one of them
Yep Max is guilty of that. He say's things that piss me off but I just push them to the side because no matter what he says it can't change the outcome of a fight but I still feel sorry for him and his family for what they had to endure.

Max Is very quick to get over excited at times but I like him.
He seems like he might have been a dedicated & addicted boxing fan/geek who tried to absord anything boxing related when He was real young and throughout his days and very quick to chime In with opinion.... That can be said of many a Saddo's member as well, Lol
He can be obnoxious but so what.As long as he Is banned from doing those painful and forced post fight Interviews.....Im Happy with him;D
He's bug eyed and annoying. I like the trio of Lampley, Merchant, and Foreman. But hey, that's just me.
Hey you HAVE to be quick or else sometimes you get a brutal KO and everyone is just silent and you don't get the "Do You Believe in miracles?!?!?! YES!" moment of the sport and it makes it boring and awkward
Jim Lampley ALWAYS does that sort of thing "Are you looking for a heavyweight champion??? Vitali Klitschko WANTS TO BE YOUR MAN!"
I really like the SHOTIME people better. You know not calling ghost punches or cheerleading for their favorite. All this HBO commentators does
Fact is there is no voice of boxing as there was in the 70's with Howard Cosell.
Money grabbing sneakthiefs hav bastardized that area of the sport aswell.
Well I read the first page and skipped the rest, hope you guys don't mind. LOL
I like Max, he sertanly knows his stuff. I like his enthusiasm in the fights and I also like the fact that he stands his ground and if he thinks the other commentators said something that does'nt make sense or he does not agree with, he tells them straight out and gives his reasons.
As someone else said, he needs to work on his interviews. He sometimes asked some pretty dumn questions and / or repeats a lot of the same questions. He also cuts fighters off sometimes. Merchant does that too and it pisses me off.
I respect Merchant but I was growing quite tired of his surmon-type speaches at the end of fights.
Kellerman is decent, the one thing I don't like about him is how he always thinks he's right, when people argue with him he just kind of gives the whatever look then reiterates his stance. Or he will just look at them like they are crazy.
I hate to disagree with a ton of people on here but Max Kellerman and Lennox Lewis did a GREAT job the other night.
Even my friends who only watch the big fights said they worked well together. They were very glad there was no Larry Merchant.
lyle your not the same guy from when i first started on this forum because we agree to much now. I like lewis. he cracks me up.
What is there to like?
That is definitely true. I also feel he's too quick to say a fighter is shot. I have long hated how commentators will say a guy is shot when he loses. To me it's ridiculous and disrespectful. Especially if you really care about boxing and make your living off of it. What other sport do they run down the losing team? When they interview the MVP from the superbowl do they say "well it looks like the other team sucks". No, you congratulate them and let them enjoy their win. Max starts cheap shots while the guys are still bleeding in the ring.
It's much more frustrating when Merchant does it cause he probably has to sit to piss at his age and he's trash talking guys that just fought for 12 rounds. It's only slightly less annoying with Kellerman's scrawny ass.
Kellermen is pompus, combined with his limited knowledge of boxing and even less knowledge of a fighters psyche makes him almost intolerable to anyone who has been in the ring at any level...To a casual observer of boxing his "I'm right your wrong" style may pass as knowledge, but to us on this board we see him for what he is... a "poser".
The only thing I would disagree with is the bias of Al Bernstein's commentating of James Toney. It actually made me sick, watch the Toney vs Peter fights and Toney vs. Holyfield fight.I wouldn't put it past Bernstein that he would actually lick Toney's sack. Every little movement he made in the ring was genius to Bernstein. Sorry got a little nasty there.
I like Kellerman! He is passionate about the sport & knows whats he's talking about. I also like the way he recognizes the Ring champions & how one champion in each weight class can only make the game better.
Can't remember what fight it was but Steward was trying to say it was good for boxing to have multiple champions in each division (how anyone can think this i good I have no idea) but Kellerman was on his case trying to make him see how idiotic his comments were
I can't picture Max doing this...

I would imagine that most people dislike Kellerman, because he's a bit of a loud mouth who is always making inaccurate predictions. His bias is pretty clear: in domestic fights he always picks the east coast fighter, in international fights he always picks the US fighter. With that said, I don't think he's all that bad.
I strongly disagree. His knowledge of the sport is pretty solid and i'm far form a casual observer. I will admit that i don't always agree with Max and that he comes off as a know it all sometimes (ok a lot of times) but he's knowleged is solid. He just needs to calm down.
He gets that i'm right your wrong style from being on ESPN. Thats how a lot of there sports people talk IMO.
I still miss "to the max"
He gets overly excited and Is bad with interviews but He knows his boxing .It seems like he has an ongoing thing with Lampley on the air.He corrects Lampley alot when Jim gets into his "rah-rah" mode and makes broad comments.Lastnight I think Lampley said if Peter defeated Wlad in rematch .."He with Lewis and Marciano would be the only Heavys (champions?) in history to beat every man they had ever lost to in the ring", Kellerman said...."Well,Greb beat Tunney badly and Tunney beat him In rematches"....Yes, maybe obnoxious and dickish but we're not really used to hearing at the moment corrections on air. There were crickets for a moment.
Respectfully,I must disagree with you. Kellerman knows his stuff, period. He is too headstrong by a mile but he knows what he is talking about as far as his general knowledge and I do like how he puts it straight to a fighter or fellow commentator when they need it. All this pussyfooting everyone else does is part of boxings turn a blind eye and a deaf ear view on things which is partially responsible for the sports reputation.
He does however, piss me off to no end when he shows clear favoritism to a fighter when his job requires he at least put on an unbiased commentary. Typically to slicker boxers is where his loyalties lie. NY boxers fit there as well.
Kellerman overall is an asset to boxing and will improve as a host as time goes by. He has to get adjusted to being off ESPN.
The thing that really gets on my tits about him is hearing a twentysomething talking about fights that happened decades before he was born. If Larry Merchant does it then it sounds right, but not that annoying little fucker. But there's so much that annoys me about Kellerman. Almost every time he opens his mouth he offends me.
