Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
tyson gets vitali on ropes round 2, left hook body, left hook head and goes to throw a right upper but vitali already down and cant make it up by 8. tyson would have made it close with ali in his prime
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
prime tyson by ko. he was too fast could dodge punches i dont know about chin but tyson would have vitali out by rnd 4 the latest.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
as good as vitali is i think tyson was beter in his prime
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
LOL Tyson would have destroyed him
Vitali is one of the worst fighter ever to hold the Heavyweight crown in most generations of fighters he would not have even made the top ten what does he do that is so special nothing who has ne beat no won because they are all useless in the division at the moment, fair enough its not his fault that there are no good fights but if there were he would not be at the top
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Tyson in 7 dont really think Klitschko would like been in the ring with him and would be a totle different fighter

Vitali was hard for LENNOX LEWIS to hit square due to his awkward lean back style. You have to figure Tyson with his short arms, short reach, and affinity for nailing people in the head would have trouble with Vitali's low guard and leaning back to avoid punches.
On offense Vitali is a monster, he has a decent jab, great right cross, and good upper cut. He also KO'd all but one of his opponents
he siad in their prime, cmon brother, tyson was the best in his day no doubt, tyson would KO him early rounds no question.

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
First off, I am fully cognizant that I'm going to take some heat for this one, but I'll begin with the question....
Who did Mike Tyson ever beat?
His biggest wins were against a Light-Heavyweight who hadn't been fighting regularly for a number of years in Michael Spinks, a victory over a faded, very faded Larry Holmes, Two victories over Razor Ruddock, who went on to lose to anyone of substance, and two victories over Frank Bruno.....and along with that a collection of has been WBA retreads who traded the alphabet titles through the eighties while Holmes was champion, and capped it off with an easy victory over Buster Douglas.....oh no, wait....he was crushed by Douglas over the ten rounds.
The majority of his opponents had already soiled themselves before the opening bell, and fought that way. Trevor Berbick went down from a powerful breeze.......
Having said all that, if he hit Klitzchko solid it might have been different, but we are talking Vitali here, and he has the better chin, and the riskier style.....but, and Tyson NEVER showed this.....Vitali has toughness. Yes, there was the loss to Byrd when he was destroying him....but Vitali has more than made up for that, especially against Lennox Lewis.
When we look at the top Heavyweights from 1980 to 2005, I would argue that Tyson really isn't in the top four, or maybe five....
My list would be.......never mind, I'll start a new thread......
Vitali by late round TKO, after Tyson tried to foul his way out of the fight.....
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Peak Tyson would not use that many fouls, just the forearm, a bit of elbow, punching on the blind side of the ref. Nothing major ;D

You've just rubbished Tyson's opposition and sure it wasn't the strongest in history but was it worse than Vitali's?
Vitali defended the title against Danny Williams - hardly the stuff of Legends. Then Vitali fought back pain for a few years.
Danny Williams wouldn't have beat Bruno. I forgot Vitali also beat Herbie Hide (several years after Bowe spanked him).
Vitali also defended his WBO strap against Ed Mahone and Obed Sullivan who are hardly better opponents than the people Tyson defended against.
Throw in him quitting against Chris Byrd - the same man destroyed by Ike Ibeabuchi 1 year earlier. Then a Prime Vitali can't beat a 38 year old, heaviest in his career Lennox Lewis.
They do have a common opponent in Jose Ribalta who Vitali beat alot quicker....12 years after Tyson had done the job.
Yet you think he can beat a Prime Mike Tyson. Shocking.:o
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
I'm the only one that has gone for Tyson by decision. I don't think he would've KOed him, but I think he would've busted him up and won a UD

i can understand what you are saying, but dont discard spinks for one minuet back in the 80's spinx was the perfect example of the word "ATHELETE" fare enough it was a match weight fight but he could hit hard, like i always say tyson was a baby in the heavyweight ranks back then the MEN he fought had years of world title experience and where pro long before tyson, he fought the best of that time, as for douglas fight WHAT A JOKE tyson won the fight in the early rounds but promotion and event was fixed becasue people wanted to see him fail, he had a reputation and douglas was the next best thing, problem was he could never deliver like tyson could, thats why he lost his title soon after. the count was a second or two too slow, if you watch the fight you clearly see Don King screaming at the bell man to call it, douglas was a bum he was a one hit wonder, his hit was "BEATING" tyson.http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...cons/icon7.gif

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Vitali would go down as every other opponent does. Tyson's style fits perfectly with Klitschko's. He was made to destroy taller opponents. I don't even doubt in the slighest Tyson would beat Vitali. I would think a KO but I'm not quite sure. Tyson is a beast... Vitali couldn't take mike's power punches, look he quit with Chris Byrd. He would need to be TOUGH to stand up to Tyson. But even if Vitali could keep coming, Tyson's defense is rock solid. I doubt he could do anything. By the way, this is the young tyson right? The old one... I'd bet my money on Vitali... maybe.

Vitali was a killer
Vitali by KO
Agree... VItali is more solid than Tyson and easily as powerful with a bigger range and more weight. Most of Tyson's opponents lost because they were terrorize before the match even started. Not Vitali. Plus the guy is wayy too smart for a slugger blender like Tyson, he would keep him at bay with his hard jab, wait till Tyson run out of gaz (i.e around the fifth) or et enraged because it doesn't go his way and hammer him around the tenth. Also, Lewis did grind down Tyson and normally, Vitali should have won against Lewis, I think it says a lot. So, personally, I say Vitali K.O 9-10

I think thats what all of Tyson's opponents thought "ill keep him away with my hard jab.....hes short i got height advantage...He'll run out of gas sooner or later" But Tyson moved his head alot so jabs almost didnt affect him. and although he did run out of gas all it took was one shot and its light out for you.
Its true Lewis did beat him and Vitali would MAYBE have beat him but as they say styles make fights.

Prime Tyson would KO prime Vitali and Wlad.

Peoples at the beginning didn't realize that Tyson was fading out after the fifth, it got discovered a bit later I would say. Also, Vitali has a jab a lot heavier than most of Tyson's opponent... and more range, enough to landf a hook or something if Tyson close in. Thus said, I agree that styles make fights, perhaps I am wrong but that's all the beauty of fantasy, we can say what we think and speculate over it:)

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Are you joking? tyson would have killed vitali in his prime, tyson was fast and powerful people say he was the best or one of the best heavyweights in the sport and your pitting him up against vitali comon.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Dont even have to read the topic, Tyson will KO him hands down...we are talking prime here and Vitali isnt even a good fighter the people that voted Vitali are obviously just plain Tyson haters
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Mike will eat Vitali's ear off!!! LOL
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
tyson by ud. once vitali tastes tyson's power he'll be on defensive mode and iron mike would have a difficult time finding the big tall man's chin.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Vitali would take him...perfect style to fight Tyson. He's tall, doesn't get hit to the body, he's awkward, strong, powerful, and has a great 1-2 and perfect uppercut to beat Tyson.
Prime Tyson had trouble with tall fighters who could jab and could take a punch and even more trouble with those guys who could punch back....Douglas and Lewis.

prime Tyson would have beaten Lewis and Douglas.
Vitali is too slow and robotic to even trouble Iron Mike.

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Tyson had a little trouble with Tony Tucker and I think Vitali is faaaaaar more dangerous than Tucker was.
At no point in tim ewould Tyson have beaten Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield.

Tucker landed an uppercut in the first, you could count on one hand how many good shots that got through to Tyson. The same period that he beat Tucker he would have beaten prime Lewis or any version of Holyfield.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Even in his prime Tyson got tied up easily....Tucker did more than land just one punch in the first round.
Vitali is a very sturdy fighter, I just don't see Tyson hurting him as Vitali has very seldom been hurt before only Sanders and Lennox Lewis have hurt him

i agree, imo the tyson before d'amato's death is unbeatable.

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
...and what all-time great fighter did Tyson destroy pre-1985 (Cus died November 4, 1985) to deserve such high praises from you guys?
Yes Tyson was an awesome fighter but he is a human, he had more power than Floyd Patterson and a better chin too, but he was not without his flaws and he most certainly was not unbeatable.
Vitali Klitschko isn't unbeatable either but looking at his record the only times he has lost have been due to injury (Shoulder vs Chris Byrd and Cuts vs Lennox Lewis). I just think the skill Vitali has at being able to stay in his range while being out of his opponent's range coupled with his chin and punching power make him a very tough fighter for Mike Tyson to beat. I am not saying Tyson could never have done it, I am just saying it would be extremely difficult for him....6'7-6'8 vs 5'10.....245 vs 218-220...Vitali could keep Tyson at the end of his jab and if Tyson connected there is no reason to believe that Vitali would be hurt OR that Tyson would be able to follow up as nobody has done that to Vitali thusfar in his career.
It is an interesting fight to think about though
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Tyson by WIDE UD. Vitali's tough, but way too robotical and without skills, no one is beating a prime Tyson, no one.

I go with Lyle on that one, Tyson struggled against tall fighters with a good jab. Vitali's jab not only good but it is powered by a killer piston. Another thing comes to my mind: Vitali's probably the best heavyweight when it comes to adapt himself, Merchant stated it, Dan Raphael and I think I can even recall Russ Anber stating how Vitali wasn't only strong and tall but was also very good to adapt himself, the guy's not only a killer machine, he's fuck** damn smart too, which Tyson ain't. I think that Vitali would only frustrate Tyson in the end, frustrated, he would go all gun ho as we've seen it so often only to get into the "robot''s gear and get mashed in the long run... especially because Tyson tends to lose a lot of juice after the fifth. Don't get me wrong, Tyson was a monster, a real one, but styles make fight and Tyson would only be super suited for Vitali.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
tyson by ko in like 4. cus d'amato/kevin rooney made him the fighter he was, peek a boo style would have killed vitaly

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
I go with Vitali by UD or late KO. Tyson always had trouble with guys 6'4" and taller. He looked ordinary against Bonecrusher, Buster Douglas, Tony Tucker, Mitch Green, etc.
And another thing Vitali isn't a blownup HW like Michael Spinks with a questionable chin at the division.
-
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
He won easily against against Bonecrusher, Buster Douglas, Tony Tucker, Mitch Green, Tyrell Biggs ect

Mike Tyson destroyed Carl Williams, Tyrell Biggs, who were both 6'5. I don't think he struggled with any of those fighters you listed above. Well obviously with Buster Douglas but were on about the mid 80's late 80's Mike Tyson.
Bonecrusher Smith just looked to survive, Mike Tyson won 12 rounds to 0 how is that struggling ? Mitch Green was no different and lost every round. If your opponent is scared and is looking to survive that isn't struggling.
Tony Tucker was a good Heavyweight in his prime, and actually gave Lennox Lewis a few problems when he was past his prime. Again apart from some of the early rounds, it was still a clear UD win 8-4 or 9-3, again that isn't really struggling.

Sorry but this is just a viewpoint that baffles me. When Cus died Tyson had yet to beat even a ranked contender.

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
I think like always Tyson has three rounds to win. But I think Vitali is long, strong and tough and those kinds of guys Tyson struggled with. After three rounds Tyson reverts top doing the same things over and over again and gradually Vitali asserts control and wins a decision.

Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
lennox and vital imo are the 2 best HWs of all time
I voted vitali by KO
