Mijares, too experienced. Obvious choice, of course.
Wouldn't say Mijares is that much more experienced than Munoz if any. About the same number of fights, they've both been in big fights, both fought Kawashima in Japan, Arce and Navarro for Mijares, Castillo (not the Castillo of the Montiel fight) for Munoz.
I'm picking Mijares because he's just somewhat better than Munoz but they're both good, experienced fighters.
Mijares, too experienced to lose to a fighter who has power but that power is only effective against inexperienced fighters. That's all I'm saying.
It's a great fight, but... to me... Mijares is the obvious choice... what I'm saying is, I'm not going out on a limb here.

I got Mijares by decision but this could be interesting. Munoz might be lesser known but he's a tougher fight than Arce IMO.
I got Mijares on points. But i would not consider it an upset if Munoz won. Munoz is a good fighter
This is tough, I think it is an upset because Mijares would be the fav. coming into the fight so that intself is what certifies it as an upset.
But I don't think it's a huge upset or anything that would shock me.
If Munoz wins for me it's an upset but a minor one.

Re: Who wins Mijares-Munoz?
Mijares could be the favorite in the betting, is he? But Munoz is rated no. 2 by the Ring Mag with Mijares at no. 3 ...
It will be a close fight with no obvious pick... They're both champions...

I got Mijares winning on points. But i can't see him stopping Munoz

Re: Who wins Mijares-Munoz?
I think this is a very close fight!
Munoz has only lost to Castillo (who was at or near his best both times) & the second fight could have easily been a victory for Munoz.
Munoz is a whole different kettle of fish compared to Arce. It won't be an easy fight but IMO its a 50/50.
For me victories over Navarro, Arce & Kawashima don't really give much of an egde to Mijares

Gotta go for my man Mijares.
Stylish, fast, strong, hungry.

Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
Mijares-Munoz Pre-fight Report Card
http://www.fightnews.com/mijares_munoz_pc.jpg
By Cliff Rold
The 115 lb. unification clash between WBC titlist Cristian Mijares (34-3-2, 14 KO) of Mexico and two-time WBA titlist Alexander Munoz (32-2, 27 KO), rated #1 and #3 in the most recent Boxing ratings, is a great fight on its own.
That it comes at a moment when the division’s center of gravity has moved firmly from Asia to the Americas, and at a moment when bankable action fighters Jorge Arce and Vic Darchinyan stand on the cusp of the title scene again, generates grand ramifications. And no, WBO titlist Fernando Montiel (36-2-1, 27 KO) is not forgotten; he, in fact, is the best possible opponent for the winner of Mijares-Munoz. It’s nice to know that such fights can be talked about realistically.
Too often, the smallest divisions are wrought with parity by way of regional stars with no incentive to travel. Right now, the regions are lined up, and so are the key players. That means the incentive for big fights lines up with it and a weight class long observed by the hardcore masses as one of Boxing’s best can prove it. Through the first four months of this year, the results say they already are doing just that.

Re: Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
I voted Mijares UD.
He's a great little fighter, lovely style, great athleticism.
Munoz would be pretty hard to stop, but I'm confident Mijares can out point him.
-
Re: Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
I'm backing Munoz by UD.
Mijares struggled enough with Navarro & got hit cleanly. If Munoz hits him like that its over!
Plus Kawashima in the 1st fight gave Mijares hell, putting him down hard.
Munoz is the best opponent Mijares has faced IMO & this fight has all the potential to be a classic!

One worry I have about my man Mijares is that physically he is still immature.

I know Mick thinks this will be an easy victory for Mijares but I have no idea what he is basing that on. Munoz is without a doubt the best fighter Mijares will have faced & possibly the biggest puncher!
My only worry for Munoz is the weight. I hope he hasn't had any difficulty making the 115 pound limit because he's going to need every last bit of strength down the stretch as Mijares tends to come on strong in the later rounds. He pulled it out with a late surge against Kawashima the 1st time & did it again vs Navarro.

I don'tthink this fight will be easy either way. I feel even if Munoz is weight drained or weakened, his style will still demand that Mijares be on guard

Mijares has to box a smart fight, against Navarro I think it was a case of Him making it harder than it should have been. But if he does that against Munoz he'll be poshing his luck.
Navarro showed Mijares can be hit & Kawashima showed he can be hurt. Munoz is a level above both guys IMO

Re: Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
By looking at Munoz's resume, if he wins, it would be by KO.
-
Re: Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
I'm going with Mijares by UD.

It's gonna be an historic event.

Re: Mijares v Munoz - Free for ALL!! Pics, talk, videos!!
I've stated my case in another thread, Navarro showed Mijares can be hit & Kawashima showed Mijares can be hurt. Munoz is much better than both so Mijares better beware!!!
-
Re: Mijarez-Munoz Poll & Pre-fight Report Card
Mijares on points. If Mijares is going to be a great fighter then he should beat a guy like Munoz. No disrespect to Munoz cause he's a good fighter, I just don't think he's a great fighter.

Re: Mijares v Munoz - Free for ALL!! Pics, talk, videos!!
To be honest,Ive seen Mijares only a few times but Me likes.Nice style ,In the pocket at times and more so with fluid boxing.Vs. Navarro It got a little rough and tumble but not so much as that ass-nine card going to Navarro.Needs to stay on point and stick to boxing early....Exchanges not advised with Munoz out of carelessness
Too much on tonight,Just got my cards crossed.Lots of flicking to come, grrrrr

Kawashima ain't a great fighter but he dumped Mijares heavily, Navarro ain't a great fighter but he was able to land cleanly.
Munoz only has 2 loses (arguably 1) & they were to the same peak Castillo & Castillo was a great little fighter at his best

I'm not sure what Pacheco's first name was, but if you search in boxrec for Ricardo Mijares, it was his opponent.

Sierra staggered early at the bell, both out swinging for the fences...but recovers to make it a close to call round.

Re: Mijares v Munoz - Free for ALL!! Pics, talk, videos!!
Honestly.....Mijares Vs. Munoz better not end in the 1st and be sensational.....30 bucks I dont mind but this undercard is just pitiful for a PPV

This is almost a hockey fight. All it needs is one guy to grab the shorts of the other, pull them over his head, and ...
-
Re: Mijares v Munoz - Free for ALL!! Pics, talk, videos!!
If Rodriguez could have let his hands go more he would have had the clear win...
