Let me tell yuo it means it was a weak era and Tyson lucky he was in a weak era when he fought mostly bums.
Foreman lost to Tommy Morrison and the prime lost to Jimmy Young. Tyson at 45 could have ko'ed Moorer with his weak ass chin.
Tyson at 37 could not beat Danny Williams or Kevin McBride....
Morrison beats either prime for prime...
BTW Jimmy Young was a good boxer who had a draw with Shavers, holds a win over Lyle, went 15rds with Ali, and was only KO'd twice once when past his prime against Cooney and once against a young murderous Shavers....
The more you go on about this the less you show that you are basing your opp on boxing knowledge and more on just being a fan
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
Really do not want to compare fighters against different fighter, Lyle started it.
Moorer beat an injured Holyfield as he proved in their rematch, so he was lucky to become a champion. Moorer chin was weak and as Tua proved can be KO'ed quickly.
IMO Prime Tyson beats prime Foreman.

I am not going to argue the point with you...You are not the only person I have ever heard say that....and do not get me wrong it is possible...I would bet on George...
I was just making the point that a loss to Young does not mean anything...Young was a good fighter and fought very good comp in an era where the Journeymen were the equivelant of many of todays champions...and Tyson lost to much worse...other then that it just comes down to one of those...we will never know type situations,,,
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
Thanks for the compromise and I did not want to sound like a Tyson nut hugger but I remember those early fights where these heavyweights would throw big wild punches at Tyson and he would bob and weave and not get hit and then counter with the big left hooks and KO the big heavyweights, which is how I see the fight. I am sure Foreman would have take many of the blows but the accumulation and the speed of them would eventually tell in my mind. But who really knows? But it would be one of the most exciting fights of all time.
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
I consider a prime or better refined Foreman the 'comeback' version. That Tyson fight was Bantered about .....I remember after Foreman No-Mased Cooper he was going to each side of the ring starting a chant ..."Tyson,Tyson..We want money, I mean We want Tyson"
I actually believe at a point in his comeback he would have beaten Tyson....By TKO.Physically a great battle,Mentally No Contest!
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
You are wrong a prime Foreman was in the 70's and Tyson fought and beat a much more dangerous fighter in Rudduck during that time period.

Did or did not Michael Moorer beat Evander Holyfield? Mike Tyson couldn't pull that off, he couldn't even go the distance....an over 40 Foreman could though....amazing isn't it.
There is a reason Morrison beat the old Foreman it's because Morrison BOXED him...had Tommy chosen to brawl he would have be knocked the fuck out like the 68 other guys who tried it.
Donovan Rudduck was inconsistant which is why he never won a title...and he was more dangerous than Ron Lyle, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, George Chuvalo, or an undefeated Michael Moorer.....Moorer was 35(30 KO)-0-0 and had just beaten Evander Holyfield when Foreman fought him, Foreman being 45 years old at the time....but no you're right Mike Tyson beating Donovan Rudduck was much more impressive

Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
tyson, haglar, chavez mhave all had there moments in the morden era..... tua for a short period of time
jack johnson, jack dempsey, joe louis, rocky marciano, sonny liston, george foremen, ernie shavers, all had that fear factor in years gone by
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
I'll go for Soney Liston,a young Foreman and a prime Tyson, was intresting watching fighters go into there shell against RJJ aswell after a couple of rounds they were just stiffs, after they taste his power and speed could class that as feared I suppose.........
Re: Now...Who are the most boxers feared of all time.
How did I go from 126 to 78. I never give bad rep ....everyone has a opinion. After all we are not Communist.

Hello..first post here..
The question is most feared... I'll go with Tyson, and then number 2 would be Foreman.
A lot of people brought up a Tyson vs. Douglas, or Tyson vs. Holyfield to point out all of Tyson's flaws. We all know after Kevin Rooney left Tyson, it was the end of the era right there.
I'm on the boat that Foreman would take care of Tyson for the very same reason that Foreman could take care of Frazier. I believe Cus D'amato pointed this out too, and it's that Foreman fought best against smaller fighters that moved forward to him. Despite Foreman's wide looping punches, he was strong enough to push his opponents into range of those punches.. However Foreman would not destroy Tyson the way he destroyed Frazier. The reason why Frazier was so easily dispatched was due to his faulty defensive maneuver against uppercuts. This was the same way Tyson exposed Frazier's son. The "up and down" movements are not good defensive movements.
I'll also have to point out something rather sacrilegious, and that's I believe Tyson style would take care of Ali. Ali always had a difficult time with pressure fights like Frazier. Tyson had an impeccable defense, (better than Frazier) and a much better right hand than Frazier. Everything Frazier could do, Tyson could do better (except for Frazier's heart). But in Tyson's prime, he never had problems going the distance. It's rather a dumb topic, because Tyson respected Ali deeply, and would never claim to be greater than Ali.

Sonny Liston all the way
Ali may have beat him but he shit himself before the fight, thats why he got so worked up at the way in, no one wanted to fight him he would be feared today
