I agree with you on the fact that to have the absolute greatest chance at a victory is for Marg. to use his distance...but that guy loves to bang and he is gonna go in for it, that being said unless Marg. has a weakness to the body that we have not seen, Cotto isnt gonna knock him out, Marg. has way to much tolerance for pain and I dont see him getting dropped.
Well my friend we going see in that fight the real weakness of Margaro , that is what i trying to say , everybody talking what Margarito going do and that he assimilate very well , but we can underestimate the Cottos power , is guarantee that he don't going assimilate the Cottos power , we saw Cotto with Judah that for me hit more or same as Margarito and Cotto could assimilate his power in where now have a better defense , so we know that Cotto can assimilate , but What do you think about Margarito ?.................
dont get me wrong...this is not a walk in the park for MArg. but like Dax said and I have said in other threads, everyone is acting as if Cotto is a 2-bit bum. Why the hell would everyone have that impression?? Cotto is the hardest hitter in the WW division point blank. He has been the most avoided man in boxing for years, even ODLH didnt want none, Mosley said in an interview when asked why Floyd was ducking Marg. even though it would have at the time been the biggest payday of Floyds career...

Berto would be the best argument for punching power, but I seriously think he is going to move out of WW he's too big and he's only 24...gonna get bigger. Mosley is naturally a light weight he is for sure not stronger than Marg. at this point in his career. Besides if he's even close to Marg's power Cotto is in for punishment because when Mosley fought Cotto and Cotto realized that he couldnt hurt Mosley thats when he started getting all slick on him.
As for Kermit, well damn is that even for real! Kerm is a big puncher and Marg. laughed at his punches! Yet Kerm got owned by Marg. after the 1st round.
I dont think those were the best picks, besides Berto but like I said he's moving up I'd almost bet on it.

Cotto can beat Marg for sure. If he picks his spots,uses the jab ALOT and throws to the body often to slow Tony down,he has a great chance. It's just Marg's length.His heavy handedness and reckless abandon can make it diffocult and will Cotto stick the gameplan once he is tagged? Fro Margarito,if h can use the jab alot, and get Cotto to fight his fight(which he's good at) he has a great chance.
I totally disagree with those that say "its easy,Cotto will outbox him".Marg can trap him on the ropes and Cotto has a tendancy to go to the ropes anyway. And Cotto will have to engage the TJ Tornado at some point.
Either way,I don't really mind who wins,it's going to be the fans who are the winners. As long as the fight is exciting,I'll be happy.

First off i love how you say that wern't the best choices, but can you name me any other Welterweights that you could debate that they hit harder than Margarito ?? and secondly just because Margarito beat Cintron doesn't mean Margarito is a bigger puncher, he beat Cintron by dishearten him, plus his work rate and granite chin. Not because he is a big puncher, Julian Jackson got stopped in 2 rounds by Mike McCallum, but does that make McCallum a bigger puncher ?? no it doesn't thats flawed logic.

I love how you don't give Ricardo Torres credit, lets remember he almost had 100 percent KO record when he fought Cotto. So your going to tell me he isn't a big puncher ?? sorry but thats pure hating there. You discredit all of Cotto's opponent's and when you get to Torres all you say is *He gave Cotto a big scare* but forget the fact that Torres had very high KO percentage at the time.

No he is not he couldn't even floor Jesse Feliciano who has been stopped by light punchers like Mike Arnaoutis, Demetrius Hopkins. When Jackson hit someone with a flush punch they went to sleep simple as that.

Tony's got everything that makes boxing great, he's a fighter with grit, determination, fighting spirit and a blatant refusal to surrender which borders on scary.
He's a true Warrior Daxx, I acknowledge that.
I respect him and if I ever turn out to be half the boxer he is I'd hold my head uphigh in pride.
But objectively, he's not the best. The grittiest? Yes. But the best no.
He has had and will have succeses, like Barrera, he will eke his own niche through sheer determination and abrasion.
Many will discredit him however as he is not supremely skilled, he's not a huge puncher, he's not perfect defensively and he's not laser fast. He's just a guy who toughs it out. So respect to him, but he won't be a favourite because of this.

First off Randall was a old man when Margarito fought him so lets actually get the full story of it and not just copying stuff from box rec. Buck Smith fought all journeyman fighters and fighters with losing records, he is a bum and had one of the most padded records i've ever seen. I don't really know if he is a big puncher because he never stopped anyone worth noting. You actually put Golden Johnson up there ?? who is a natural Lightweight/Jr Welterweight but you discredit Shane Mosley on Cotto's resume ?? that sounds like a hypocrite to me. I just saw how when he couldnt break Mosely down he was on his back foot from 9-12th round, I doubt he breaks Margarito down and the fact that Tony keeps coming and coming and coming, the second Cotto lets his foot off the gas Tony will slaughter him, Tony has a massive uppercut that is Cotto's achilles heal couple that with the experience and grit of Margarito does indeed = Fucked for Cotto
Cotto is going to beat the crap out of Margarito....Tony is too easy to hit, he gives up his height and size advantages, and his punches are too slow and loopy.
Miguel can box and when he boxes he's more deadly than when he presses for the KO.
I hope Tony likes this song because it's going to be playing when Cotto drops him for the 10 count...

I'm glad we have this up instead of the constant boring B-Hop v Calzaghe talk. I would never pick against Cotto, but this match up could be tough for him stylistically. I think the biggest question is can Cotto hurt Margarito, who has an outstanding chin. Cotto has been stunned before. I really can't wait for this fight. I'll give an early pick of Margarito upset.
