I'm pulling for Joe, but I can't pick against B-Hop. I like him via SD

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Hopkins may be 43, but it's a "young" 43. He's also a wily old veteran who knows every trick in the book and is not afraid to use them. And while Calzaghe is a great fighter.... I don't see him changing up his style enough to beat Hopkins. Nor do I think he's got the power to hurt him. Hopkins by split decision.

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Hylan Williams Jr. turns pro tonight on this undercard. He was 2 points from qualifying for the Olympics and he is a very good pro prospect, has a pro style and definitely looking forward to hopefully catching his debut on stream.
Ah, already happened, Williams ended it in the third round.

anyone and everyone can joint in the posting on this now and when the fight is live... rd by rd, or just comment on how the fights going, ring walks etc just like you would with your mates at the pub... its a free for all thread to rap with eachother fight time. and a good place to argue the scorecards after the event as this will go the distance :D.
no rules come fighttime just post away rd by rd on a few or all the rounds anyone can add there rd by rd also and comments ;)
not sure how it will work out but seems like a good idea to try since there isnt a dedicated poster for this you can all chip in with scoring the rounds or whatever you like.
I say this will be Joe via Close UD ((i know i picked a draw in the Predict contest but thats because i like a gamble))
Nice idea Saddo. Everyone should be able to make a comment on the fight round by round. Reps on your way.

Hopkins is definitely an entertaining guy out of the ring and a dirty old man inside.

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Some nice analysis from Haye on Sentanta.
Audley is going to fight pretty soon here I think. This is how far a Gold Medal carries you. This is it for Harrison, his absolute last shot and it's all due to the medal. It's the guys last chance so I'm not going to bag on him to much.

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Calzaghe UD either 115-113 or 116-112 maybe both. I really hope Hopkins does not floor Calzaghe or b-hop will be in for a worse hiding. Last two opponents that floored Calzaghe were themselves later floored and subsequently lost. As they say you can't keep a good man down !!!

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Oh man they are talking about a possible Harrison v Haye. This would kill off Harrison career for good Haye KO1 definately, no doubt.

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Audley Harrison - Jason Barnett
Round 1: Barnett comes out jabbing early, at a clear size size disadvantage, Audley looks fit but as we know fitness is not his problem. Harrison delivers a few jabs in the early going, both standing in the center of the ring circling, not much punching. Barnett looks scared to come inside on Audley, Audley is doing nothing to keep him at bay, only occasionally jabbing in the early going with not landed powershots. Audley is starting to work in his straight left. The difference of skill is immense here but Harrison just isn't punching much and when he does punch, it's one at a time, nothing in combination. The boobirds come out early for Audley at the end of the round.

Cutmemick you better be careful not to mix your whiskey with this sedative of a fight. Could be dangerous. ;D

Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Harrison - Barnett
Round 2: The corner tells Audley to amp up the aggression and he meets Barnett in the center of the ring with a jab and uppercut that just missed. Barnett seems more willing to get inside now but not much is being done, Audley firing to the body with his left hook this round. Barnett should not be in the ring, his defense opens up as soon as he is pressured but pressure is something Harrison is not bringing. Harrison working a bit more this round, leading with his left straight but falling in after it and tying up. Harrison tries to a punch his way out a clinch as the bell sounds and more boos. Despite the boos, it's Audley's round again.
-
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Harrison - Barnett
Round 3: Buddy McGirt is now working with Harrison, was not aware of that even last round. Harrison jabbing mostly for the first minute but is not doubling up on it nor is he putting anything of substance behind it. Harrison lands a good left uppercut on Barnett and then goes to dancing. Harrison is bouncing up and down a lot and it's not needed, he needs to punch more as Barnett poses no threat. Audley beginning to jab one at a time, very confident but not exactly what we want to see with this level of opponent in the ring. Fifteen seconds left and the boos rain down again. Audley responds a bit to the crowd by pressing Barnett on the ropes and flurrying a bit, nothing real substantial.
-
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
That's a nice stiff jab from Audley, has opened a cut. Buddy wants bodywork from Audley.
-
Re: Calzaghe - Hopkins Predictions, RD by RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Harrison - Barnett
Round 4: This is fast becoming your typical Audley Harrison fight. Lots of staring at his opponent from a couple feet away without much punching. Only jabs from Harrison and at this point he has to be looking for some way to get this guy out of there. He doubles up with a couple uppercuts two minutes in, but again doesn't capitalize on his momentum. Barnett on the other hand just isn't making any attempt to score any offense and only occasionally moves his hands to touch the pawing jab of Harrison. A good left hand lands at the bell for Harrison in a very dull round.
