Andy Lee, sure he lost to Vera but hey he's a good fighter and he'll rebound
Jonathan Banks, he's another Manny Steward fighter and he's had just under 20 fights at cruiserweight. He's going to be a good heavyweight as well, he has 14 KO's....he's had his chin tested by former Wlad Klitschko victim Eliseo Castillo but he got up to stop Castillo in 4.
My boy from the gym here in Greensboro Richard Rivers....he got jobbed in his first fight where he completely outclassed this southpaw but got called for an illegal blow resulting in a no contest. He has trained with Jack Mosley and he's got a bright future if he keeps his head on straight.
Richard Rivers
I haven't really heard of anyone too great with the exception of Gamboa and Odlanier Solis...I hope they keep it up

Bernabe Concepcion... I know, he already has 26 fights ( 24 (13 KO) - 1 - 1 ) but people still consider him as a sensational prospect...
He has a fight this weekend and I hope he'll be successful defending his NABF super bantam title and proceed to get a shot at Steve Molitor's title next...

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Joe Greene and Peter Quillin are good picks as well
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMk65IkNoKw&NR=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hAfyUjXqnM
Greene is a little short but I think his power and speed cover for his shortage in height. Quillin can be a little inconsistent but I think he's good enough all around to do very well.
Here's Jonathan Banks for anyone who hasn't seen him

The guy in fifteen fights has gone 12 already which alota guys just wont do..
Looks real good to be fair

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Has anyone ever heard of or seen Puerto Rican Jesus Rojas, a 122 pounder? This guy is awesome!! He fights on many of the major undercards promoted by Arum, which tells you what Arum thinks of him. For a few years, Juan Manuel Lopez fought on the undercards of top Arum promotions as a way to get showcased. Watch out for Rojas.

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
If this had been 2 months ago, everyone would have been saying Andy Lee. Now he's left with only Lyle sticking up for him :) Just an observation really, but I find it funny how we (fans) really do go for hype and what other people says once in a while.
A few European based prospects who havent been mentioned yet:
Vitali Tajbert
Gennady Golovkin

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
juan manuel lopez
amir khan
andre berto

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Abner Mares is a bad ass, another good fighter is Jorge Linares but I dont think he falls in the range of prospect anymore.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Pretty much everybody's been mentioned. I'll throw in Argenis Mendez, 130 pounder.
I had heard amazing things about him and when I finally saw him I wasn't totally blown away but possibly just had too high expectations. Still he's got a lot of natural talent, just needs to use the jab and find one trainer and stick with him.

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
I was reasonably impressed with some kid named Pabon ESPN2 one night. Maybe not so impressed that I remembered his first name but definitely took notice of him. Pretty sharp fighter, maybe not huge athletic talent but a skilled guy for a prospect.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Andy Lee was being hailed as a monster who could possibly fight Pavlik by the end of the year...that all ended couple of weeks ago when he got owned.

Do you mean Jesus Pabon, another up and coming Rican? If so, that guy is good to, though I think he has a fluke loss.

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Last night I watched Team USA vs Team Puerto Rico from the Liacourus Center in Philly. There was this 112 lbs fighter I believe his name was Rau'shee Williams almost certain.Anyway keep an eye on him he should be representing USA in the Olympics and my pick easily for a gold medal. His hand speed is ridiculous and skills are that of a pro.
I know he is not a professional yet but once you've seen him you will be convinced he'll make a huge impact as a pro.

Yes he did and against Carlos Ortiz no less, one of Puerto Rico's top amateurs.

That sounds right but I'm not 100 percent sure.

There's a great young fighter here in Aus. He's fighting another great prospect very soon. Should be interesting. His name is Jeff Fenech and he will be up against Azuma Nelson for the Aged Care Title belt. ;D

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Theres a pretty decent kiwi fight out off OZ; Junior Talipeau a middleweight with a 11-0(4) record. Was scheduled for 10 rounds in only his 5th fight. From what I've seen of him he's one of our best prospects in awhile!

That's him...
He still has some work to do but looks good so far.
I'd like to see him fight someone who's know for durability to see how well he handles a long distance fighter.

Guess my point is that I wouldn't call this 'Exposure' cause I think Lee just had a bad night. If you check one of my posts from today I just posted that I thought Lee would loose to someone who moved well and Vera did. Lee couldn't find him but Vera did...
Let's not forget how many fighters have lost early in their careers and have bounced back to become champions and even ATG.
Hopkins, Alexis, The Marquez Bros., Carlos De Leon etc. etc. the list is endless.

Argenis Mendez is one I forgot. He's one to watch for without a doubt, trained by Floyd Sr. with power in both hands and good boxing ability.

I never saw Lee before the Vera fight and was not impressed to say the least. Although it is a bit ridiculous how coming you have to have a perfect record basically.

Lot's of fighters lose early in their careers and some in devistating fashion and they pick themselves up they get back to work and they achieve more than anyone thought possible.
When Wlad was beaten by Sanders and Brewster I was still in his corner and now he's THE champion once again which no one thought was possible.
I'm sticking with Lee because he's a southpaw, he's got quick hands, he's young, and he can obviously take a decent punch...he's got heart and he has a great trainer. It's obvious he's going to be back....just my opinion though.
Manny Steward fighters in general usually lose at least once before making it big...look at Lennox Lewis and Gerald McClellan and Wladimir Klitschko....they all came back to do extremely well

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Diego Magdeleno
Keith Thurman
Danny Garcia
Hylon Williams
Edwin Rodriguez
Danny Jacobs
Karl Dargan
Those are some that I missed that have just turned pro recently. All very good with styles built for the pros especially Dargan and Garcia. Hylon I haven't seen as a pro yet, was hoping I could catch it somewhere it was on the Calzaghe-Hopkins undercard. He upset a lot of people turning pro, they had high hopes for him did USA boxing. As bad of a wrap as USA boxing gets, it is turning out some fine prospects.

Yeah I think Garcia is going to be showcased on the DLH/ Forbes broadcast

Adrian Hernandez I think is an excellent prospect. He's 13-0. And already holds a win over Rodel Mayol

Best up and coming talent
Who is the best up and coming fighter in boxing at the moment with under 10 fights, my vote would be

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
no kidding, Hector has every right to be a cult hero too. Jacobs looked kinda hypnotized after that.
Just checked he's 1-2 which is a disturbingly good record to be honest. I'm starting to think maybe I should get into boxing. I've watched a lot of Teddy's pre-fight plans. :-\
