While I agree that it was wrong for Cortez to allow Hatton's reputation to influence the way he reffed the fight, it is Hatton's fault that he has such a reputation.
Cortez is just a fucking terrible ref. I was equally unimpressed with the way he reffed Calzaghe - Hopkins as I was with the way he reffed PBF - Hatton.
I agree with what you say about the reffing though, it didn't matter who the ref was, PBF was going to win, unfortunately.

Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
I can't believe all the bickering and nobody has talked about these fights!!!
Rocky vs Apollo I - his face looked like hamburger helper and he kept on fighting.
Apollo vs Drago- the guy fought to the death and wouldn't let his corner stop it. That takes guts.
;D

Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
I'm going to give credit to both fighters, and I'm pretty sure everyone can agree on this one: Frazier-Ali 3. Both fighters took many a shot that would put 99% of history's heavyweights on their ass, and as far as bravery and effort goes, you have to give props to them both for putting together a legendary battle.

Jeff Lacy - Joe Calzaghe
Vazquez - Marquez I,II & III
Henry Cooper - Muhammad Ali
Vitali Klitschko - Lennox Lewis
Alexis Arguello - Aaron Pryor
Ron Lyle - George Foreman

I think Marvin Johnson vs Matthew Saad Muhammad 1 deserves a mention as well. Johnson beat the crap out of Muhammad and just couldn't find that final KO blow. I think thats one of the bravest performances and best performances i've ever seen in a losing effort.

Anyone said Balboa vs Creed?

Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
Same as you, havent gone back and read... But I was thinking about Tyson Vs Douglas
Tyson was taking thunderous shots and kept coming, despite a dumb gameplan Tyson hung in there till he was Ko'd not to mention he had Douglas down for the 14 count:rolleyes: and almost squeaked away with the victory

I just neg repped you, not that my punch power matters, but that is seriously one of the stupidest things I have read on this forum. Dissing somebody because they are a "newbie", and not having a single response to their actual arguement... How pathetic. As if someones opinion has to be validated by how many posts they have on some forum. I mean truly, who gives a fuk. At best all that could indicate is that they have something better to do.

Heres some more that come to mind.
Yaqui Lopez vs Matthew Saad Muhammad 2

I second that and I second the neg rep. We were all newbie's around here at one time. Fresh blood is always welcome and treating them that way hurts the forum.

Re: Bravest Performances In Losing Efforts.
We all start somewhere i remember when i come here i was 16 years old hadn't gone to boxing gym, was struggling with family problems, kicked out of school looking like i had no future. I couldn't even do any punctuation when i come here, now i have had 3 Amateur fights, im engaged, family is looking on the up, currently taking my driving lessons, and i could be getting a job soon. My spelling/punctuation/sentences and my boxing knowledge, have all improved just by coming on here, its quite amazing how life can change so quickly.

That's why you could run up all those posts so fast? Man, I remember when you burst on the scene around hear, like 15-20 posts per day. I wondered how anybody had time to do that. Good to see your prospects have improved even at the expense of saddo output :)

Now the fruity ass is obsessed with me I bet out of his 2900 or so posts 1900 of them have my name referenced in one way or another:o

Yea Benny Kid Paret that was there 3rd meeting, he took about 30 punches in 6 seconds or something like that. I see the footage once and it was horrific, and whats even more scary is that Griffith isn't a big puncher.
I just watched a cool documentary last week they did on Griffith. That fight was the single worst case of negligent reffing I personally have seen. It was a travesty and that ref should have been brought up on charges of murder:mad:
The end result in Griffith-Paret was more tragic, but the referee was worse in Ike Williams-Beau Jack.
Ike Williams was one of the meanest fighters around, but even he hesitated when he had Jack cornered and signaled to the ref. He was like "what do you want me to do, kill the man?"

To be honest JT i hadn't ever really gone on internet before so i was kind of new to internet, so when i found out about youtube and found all these boxing videos present/old it was like i was in a sweet shop. And before i joined here i did see people posting videos on here, i thought that was common thing so i just posted as many as i could.
Yea you did stick up for me but IMO i also took your side in the past as well. That seems so long ago now doesn't it ?? i mean look at all the things we have achieved since then JT i mean you even got married didn't you ?? but like i said i think your quality member and you don't take no shit which i like in a person thats why i also respect VD.
