Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
This fight is going to be better than some of you guys think. Zab is going to be smoking in the beginning: combination shots, speed, power, BUT Clottey is no slouch. He has an excellent chin, good defense and if he actually trains right he'll still have plenty of gas when Zab goes all doe-eyed and starts mistaking Clottey's gloves for strawberry ice cream scoops. Zab wilts whenever his opponent isn't as impressed by his power as he is and he will wilt when he hits Clottey and Joshua doesn't turn into a cloud of dust. All Clottey has to do is work on his body until the 5th or 6th round. Mayweather has provided the blueprint.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
I like Zab.. He's a real good fighter.. and had all the potential in the world..
But like most fighters i just wish him some great fights to go out on, rack up some wins.. these guys he fights are always top notch.. For zab ideally i'd like this win.. followed by either a title fight or a baldomir rematch if he could get one Might be pretty hardd.. hes probably living it up big time (and fair play to him if he never fights again) but thats a definate black mark on his record..
Zab just needs to be focused.. do his business.. hes got the skill just put the work in and seal a legacy thats based on how great a fighter he was not how much of a tough, new york minded brutal underachiever he can be..Lol
frankly i gotta see if they can pair zab and berto once berto takes the vacant wbc that could be sweet :)
P.s..Fucking NICE sig VD

I'd want Berto to fight someone more gatekeepy before making a run at Zab, but sometime in the next year? I can see that happening.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
I wouldn't exactly call Clottey boring. He beat the living crap out of Diego Corrales (RIP) and he gave Margarito one of his toughest fights in recent memory. Clottey is too strong and conditioned for Judah. The fight may be boring, but it will be because JUdah will be backpedaling the entire fight since he will NOT be able to move Clottey backward. If Clottey maintains a high workrate, I see him winning a clear cut decision in a competitive fight.

clotteys in the exact same boat, think theyre called nearly men nowadays.
Zabs always just lacked that little bit of skill required to get him over the line. He has the stamina the heart and the power to hurt anybody between 140-147. But in order to beat your cotto`s, mosleys, mayweathers etc you have to throw 60-70 punches a round and make your opponent think about what he is doing.
Zab was really hurting cotto early on with that straight left lead in, but by 5-6 he seemed to just puff out of steam and cotto had completely worked him out.
This could either be the potential springboard to a world title for zab or the beginging of the end. Clottey will stand there and trade punches for 12rounds and zab has to be prepared to do likewise!!

I don't think Judah hurt Cotto AT ALL in the early rounds or in the fight, for that matter. I do think, however, that Juda, because of his power, made Cotto think twice before committing to a punch in those early rounds. That's what Judah is going to have to do against The Cotto's the Mosleys, and the Clotteys and do it, as you say, more often.

I agree.. i think jaz was doing real well early in the cotto fight..
But the thing i really liked was zabs left uppercut.. He would just keep a few punches out there and try time bringing it up so hard when cotto came in.. caught him good with that counter a few times early!.. But also you gotta admit thats not even really zabs style.. zab is supposed to blow through you.. he comes strait off with fast straits and gets great range with putting strong hooks on his combinations as he walks through.. just very fast.. but theres not alot of fights left for zab right now to be honest..
I dont think clottey is really make or break right now.. i think he has longer then zab tbh ..
Im pretty sure he fights outta the bronx does clottey and i thoink he only really had his coming out party with his good performance against margarito so.. its just hes been spotted late but has a good few fights ahead of him..
Its always been tough for ny fighters to get fights to be honest.. So now hes got more of a name i expect he'll make the most of it while he can..
Clottey and zab is good match making in my opinion though.

Judah probably won't do enough. Although its not like Clottey's a real busy fighter either.
An irrational hatred of clottey????
Ive always enjoyed his fights, your typical african boxer - great punching ability, always fighting on the front foot and never say die attitude.
I'm all for irrational hatred for certain fighters, for example Wlad. I could say he's boring after his last fight with Ibragimov but honestly I started disliking him a long time before that. I'm impressed with the irrational hatred of certain forum members around here, for example Bilbo with Christian Mijares. He probably has me beat there.
With Clottey I'm not sure its irrational. I just find him to be a boring fighter. He cruises through fights, he's a bit lazy and I just don't like his fighting style. There may be something irrational about it (its not really hatred, these are just boxers) but there's also just the fact that I don't like his style.

I don't hate anyone.
But i'll never understand the love for powderpuff.
Claim to fame (his fans cite) - Cotto smashed his face in.
I just don't get it :-\

Daxx Kahn told me one time that any true boxing fan has to enjoy the way Paulie fights. I think I gave him a sad click. Other than that I guess Daxx was all right.

Why does Clottey suck all of a sudden? I think he's one of the best 147 pounders out there right now.

He looks to me to be going through the motions as of late & watching the clock.Solid fundamentals but could be more definative with output and good bodywork.....He does not Suck but should light a fire.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
according to clottey's record it just doesnt tell me hes going to win by KO or TKO, he doesnt seem to be able to KO top welterweights.
if he wins its going to be by decision of DQ (which is a possibility since we are talking about zab)

Hmm, well for me I've already gone through this on here, I don't think he sucks, I just don't like watching him fight.
Spicoli's right about him totally though.

I agree he has things he should work on. But he is effective with what he has. Yeah he has been looking stale lately but no one at 147 has wanted to fight him. Ever since that Magarito fight he was avoided like the plague, only someone with as much heart as Corrales took him on and now Judah is taking him on.
You guys want to know why Zab Judah always gets these shots? he seems to be the only guy who is giving someone a shot.
No one else was calling out Clotteys name. Not Cotto, not Margarito for a rematch, not anyone else.
This fight is gonna show how talented Clottey is, and if Judah is on his A game(which is like asking Paris Hilton to not have intercourse for a month, she may be telling you she is, but in the back of your mind you're saying "someone is banging her!" same with Judah, he'll say "this fight im focused" but in the back of your mind you're always saying "watch him screw this up"
But if Judah is on his A game as Clottey will be then this will be a very exciting fight.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
Dam, I was thinking about this too! Great minds Ouma! I think Zab can beat Clottey. Neither is super tough mentally. Both are P4P skill wise...for 4 rounds. Then the wheels fall apart. I'm going with Zab because it's an important fight for him but I can see Clottey winning on points.Should be a good fight.

I'm not sure if were going to be allowing any more people to become Zab fans. Its an elite group after all. At some point there will be a cut off and the rest of you will have to make do with being Daniel Judah fans.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
Some basic groundwork for being a Judah fan.
Every prediction has to be a Judah KTFO. Not Judah decision, not even Judah late stoppage, Judah KTFO :D If something happens and Judah somehow doesn't secure a KTFO victory, you have to look for reasons why it didn't happen. You need to look for something that is as far out of Zab's control as possible, promoter, ref, fans, Don King, Jin Mosley, the opponent's gloves ect. And had it not been for one of those reasons, you have to insist that Judah would have in fact scored his KTFO.
And it doesn't just have to be the opponent that Judah has to KTFO. For example, Judah may not have KTFO Floyd, but he did KTFO Roger Mayweather. Same with Tszyu, that wasn't the fight, the fight was with Nady in which Judah was well on his way to a resounding KTFO. As a Judah fan you have to take pride in these things and always hope that he gets his long awaited KTFO of Chuck Giampa.

Daniel Judah is garbage. Josiah Judah is less garbage. Cheer for him

I'm having to convince myself to have faith, as much as I would like the King to win a Clottey on points pick is calling my name in the prediction contest. Guess I have little faith.

I guess I will have to sack up and pick Judah by KTFO
I'm not sure I really believe it but Clottey's not that good.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
clottey looks more of an asshole then zab for some reason
i was a fan of zab since he entered WW and i will always be a fan of him...
i read an article somewhere, that tells us that zab is not focus.
i remember it saying something about a sponsor giving zab a credit card and he spend a huge amount of money in a matter of days.
also it said that he and his father had an argument....so iono LOL
zab is just a crazy character

This is kind of a meaningless post (then again I made a thread in the hidden board asking if people give explanations when they edit so why go relevant all of a sudden) but it just struck me that I was rooting for Zab, seems slightly surreal.
Zab by early TKO. Hopefully.
Welcome to my one man club!hehe I have always liked Zab. Yes he has failed a lot, yes he thinks he is actually superman, yes he talks shit, but I see past all that. I see a guy gifted with amazing speed, who is crafty and never ever in a bad fight.

Re: I'm thinking about becoming a Zab Judah fan
i sure as hell aint a Zab fan. But I have to call this a toss up for two reasons, one for each fighter.
1) I saw when clottey fought margarito, and until he broke his hand, marg had no idea what to do to hit him and tony showed he is more vulnerable to straight punches than hooks. he wont get knocked out or maybe even down, but clottey was scoring a lot. his defense and chin are both very good. i dont know too mcuh of his power. he looks strong, but in boxing, a chiseled physique means jack shit. i.e. jeff "left hook" lacy
2) Zab Judah has some kind of mental condition. If he strikes you solid and you dont move, he goes into full on brooklyn street fight mode, complete with shit talkin between punches and slap boxing stance (see mayweather fight before the brawl). He suddenly forgets that he has great physical boxing gifts and his resolve disappears. He was tagging PBF in the first 4 rounds, and then, for no reason at all cuz PBF didnt start turning up the tempo yet, Zab just stopped doin what was working. no more straight left hands, no more foot movement, and no more combinations.
This sounds stupid to me even as I type it, but truthfully whoever finds it easier to hit the other will win. Ill go with the minority and pick Clottey by late stoppage, solely cuz Zab has a tendency to give up. If the real Zab shows, it will go different, but we havent seen that guy in years.

ROFL word up. here in nyc thats exactly what it takes to be a Zab fan.
