Sven wasn't the greatest that is forum bait plain and simple, the greats were long gone and they had many dimensions of the fight game to test out anyone in varying ways. I doubt he could stand for long against them in those early times.
Sven is pretty one dimentional but he is a master of that dimension. Okkte has some natural talent and definatley mastered a set number of moves that had him a master of what he did. His weakness is hiden behind his craft. Nothing stand out though, just did what he had to do and did it within his own limits against some limited stock; = Smartman=full points for Spen.

Ottke is the prime example of a protected fighter with numerous corrupt hometown decisions.

I think that is a universal belief of all boxing fans

He has to be one of the worst fighter who won a world title and remained unbeaten, the guy served so many robberies he should be doing life. His basics were good but come on he was required to defend his title outside Germany because he had so many bad decisions and he promply retired and gave up his belt, the decent names he did fight most of them were robbed blind, Mads Larson was out of boxing for about 5 years cause that experience ruined boxing for him. Boring fighter to watch and never deserves to be listed anywhere near the best Super Middleweights, a record of about 29-7 would have been more accurate.

Robin Reid lost points for hitting ottke. The ref in that fight was a fucking discrace and the verdict was disgraceful.

Ottke was offered his biggest ever pay day and home advantage against Calzaghe and he chose not to accept it.

Calzaghe has never avoided anyone.

You must have shown some severe bias towards Johnson to believe he was robbed ;)

Johnson should have squeeked that fight out... I would in no way say it was a robbery, though

Eubanks & Nigel would have beat him on Sat. and twice by Sunday morning before breakfast. ;)

Sven had some good wins, controversial but nonetheless good wins.
But by any means did he beat anyone who I would consider great.

Nore did he do anything in his career that would lead you to believe he is the greatest.
