I can't see it happening at all whilst Khan is with Warren

i think warren will be really protective over khan now wich i think will ruin any chance he has of getting near a world title
Warren only has Khan left as a name fighter. The problem he has now is that Khan is signed to Sky and expected to fight on PPV. People will probably buy the first Khan comeback fight because either a) They want to see if he get's sparked again or b) they want to see how he reacts when/if he gets tagged with a decent shot. Most from the response to his loss will be for a) which is a shame.
If Warren babies Khan after the first fight back then any sensible fan will stick two fingers up to paying for his next fights which will put the Sky contract in danger forcing Warren to put Khan into a meaningful fight against a live opponent, Which to be honest is what Khan needs. There's no point him fighting tomato cans or road sweepers and padding his record only to get found out when he gets to the stage of fighting for something meaningful. Khan needs a test, learning fights because he has not developed as a pro, especially with his defence.
As for the talk of Bruno... I liked Frank. In the ring he was genuine, he gave a 100%, had a good if slow jab and hit like a mule. On the down side he was slow and lacked altheticism. I wouldn't say he was chinnt because he took shots from Tyson and Lewis that would have put a lot of heavweights straight to sleep. Bruno's problem was one simmilar to Tommy Hearns - when he got hit and hurt he had no natural instinct on what to do. Normally a fighter can hold on or spoil until his head clears but Bruno didn't have that. When he got hurt the whole ball game went to sh*t and he was there for the taking. He had heart though and if only he'd had a bit more fighting instinct to follow up after the left hook that rattled Tyson to his shoes and the overhand right that had Lennox's leg doing strange things could have changed the face of heavweight history. Instead though he was idolised by the British public for being a gallant loser (until winning the title against Oliver 'nutcase' McCall.
This leads to the most frustrating issue of the British fight fan. This tendancy to love the guy who try's and fails. It's a trait that I don't see from any other Nation. We had Eubank unbeaten and winning the title in a fercoucios battle with Benn loathed by his home country fans. Eubank did not start getting general support or just recognition until he lost !!! The same with Naseem Hamed (although he lost and never really came back...).
It takes a certain level of self belief bordering or often passing to arrogance to be a winner and for whatever reason the British public can't stomach that. We need to overcome that hurdle and start getting behind the winners as much as we as support the losers.
Is it really still the case (if it ever was) that Brits don't like winners? I think it just comes down to personality. As you said (Shamrock) -winners normally share an unwavering win mentality, arrogance, that doesn't make them appeal, which is probably the reason people don't want to celebrate their success.
Eubank played the role of villian. Naz was as equally liked as disliked, wasn't he?
Did people really love Bruno more because of his defeats?
Lennox Lewis had an "American" accent and was the opposite of Bruno personality wise.
Hatton was a win machine "everyone" loved. He seems to have lost fans since his defeat.
Eubank was villanised by the press. They twisted virtually everything he said. He called boxing a mugs game - and was actually speaking up for fighters by making that statement but it was turned against him. Looking back it's almost impossible to find positive press on Chris and yet he was doing positive things including a lot of comunity work. The problem is Eubank visiting a school to give kids a pep talk isn't considered news.
Eubanks views never changed and yet after he lost - expecially to Thompson - the public fell in love with him.
Naz was hated in his prime by a lot of British fans - still is. Would the public perception have changed if he had fought on after fighting MAB - who knows...
Arrogance - confidence it's a fine line but I think you have to accept and appreciate that to be a winner in any sport especilly boxing you need it.
Without doubt.
But i think it's personality people don't like not the fact someone is a dominant winner.
Ive seen Eubank say he enjoyed playing his ROLE. Like or loathe him he ENTERTAINED. I think he did change towards the end of his career, seemed far more humble.. or maybe the press painted a slightly different picture of him.. or maybe he was more liked because he was in two great fights with Thompson - considering he spent the bulk of his title reign in borefests.. so, i guess LOSING plays it's part, but is not the no.1 reason for the publics change of heart.
(something like that :-\)
It was officially annouced that only 50,000 people tuned in ans paid for the Amir Khans fight. Its mention in this months Boxing Monthly Mag!Im not dishing Khan because i actually like him alot!but there was no way that he was worth PPV though.
Ha,ha,ha!Deserves you right SKY SPORTS"You robbing twats!"Who where you trying to kid:-\:p
Is it fair to blame Khan for signing with Sky  His whole career could end with one punch... shouldn't he make as much money as he can - when he can
It annoys the hell out of me that fight fans don't get to see our fighters without having to pay through the nose. It's the same with the England football team. The thing is though people are paying for it and as long as they do it will cotinue to happen. Only a few will make a stand and if hstory has taught us anything it is this - Quote "No majority ever gives a minority a chance" - Muhammad Ali. People need to stop bitching about the injustice and make a stand. Until they do we will continue to get screwed by fat cat broadcasting companies with no interest in our sweet science - they care about money, first, last and only.
Full respect to ITV for sticking with the boxing and I hope Thaxton gives a good show,
Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of people that want to see Khan fail? I like Khan, and was shocked at the manor of his defeat to Prescott. I agree totally with Shamrock that the KO was due to a problem with defence more than his ability to take a shot. When you watch the slow motion replay of the second left hook that knocked him down, I think it would have floored most fighters!
I'm definitely up for seeing him fight Thaxton, and Jon has been wanting to fight him for absolutely ages so he should make the most of this opportunity. It would be a big pay day for him too! If the next fight is PPV I'm probably not going to watch it... £15 for 54 seconds!??!!?!? :-\
It's not just you fella... there's no other nation I can think of where the fans and oublic treat their sportsman the way we British do. I've mentioned this a few times now. I don't why it is but we have a problem when it comes to winners. Frank Bruno gets hero status and supported to the hilt when his limitations are exposed and he loses. Eubank on the other hand gets vilified for being undefeated and having one of the longest world championship records. They are just two examples.
Amir has always been seen as a down to earth kid but over the last few months there have been worrying signs that he has started to believe his own hype. Trying to walk through a noted puncher in Precott with no plan B... scary.
The firing of his long time trainer and the jump to Sky PPV have also allienated him from genuine fans. Talk of Amir being ready for a world championship fight were ridiculous as is the talk that Amir is 'the biggest let down' for a fighter that has won an olympic medal. I remember Nigel Benn being knocked out by a jab from Michael Watson and a lot of people saying that he had been exposed and that his career was over... how wrong they were. Nigel took stock from the defeat learnt a hard lesson and came better. I hope Amir can do the same. I would love nothing better than for him to come back stronger. He has already said that training in the USA is great because he can walk down the street without being noticed. Maybe that will give him a reality check.
If he does learn from his mistakes and can progrees from the amateur style which he is still very much in it would be atravesty for us as a NAtion not to get behind him.
Thaxton will be a good test - if Amir has learnt from his last fight he will win... if not and he leaves his chin out Thaxton will more than likely takehis head off....
That's a bit harsh mate, everyones circumstances are different.
Glad it was so low though. It was reported that they need 250,000 buys.. but also some sources said 100,000.
The apparent spectacular failure all-round hasn't STOPPED the next Khan fight from being PPV though has it
More fans will pay to watch Khans next fight but only if he fights a puncher, his chin will be the object of all interest, we know he can box, his fitness is good, his speed is good, so why pay to watch him fight a none puncher, FW MUST BE PULLING HIS HAIR OUT,a decision he has to make, with Khan who is now damaged goods
He was dropped by Limmond and dropped and hurt by Gomez neither of whom are considered big punchers... The feeling amongst fans at the moment is that Khan either can't take or can't defend against a decent shot. Add to this the fear factor that Khan will now be fighting with and I think whoever his next opponent is people will buy the fight to see what happens. A lot of people who buy these fights are not hardcore and won't have the knowledge to know if his next opponent is a patsy.
You're right about FW though n- he only has Khan and will be totally in the wilderness if he doesn't measure up. I hope he does. He's started to make the right steps - training in America reportedly getting top class training and bringing Freddie Roach on board. I doubt the Khan story is over for a while yet.
At least Amir Khan is beening honest in this lastest vid.Get back into Khan

P.S Amir Khan has a new dvd coming out on the 17th of november.
has to be Thaxton next to sell this one I feel if it is to be ppv - and to put him in with someone who will certainly test him.
I think Thaxton deserves his shot too after so long - and I haved to say I think Thaxton will do him.
As for a Prescott rematch - if he keeps winning he will have to face him at some stage !
Anyone know if Presott has a fight lined up yet - I will be keeping an eye on his career now
Warren will not put Khan in with Thaxton. After being knocked out in his last fight it would be suicidal to put him in with a guy who can hit like Jonathan.
Khan will be put in with somone with a record that looks good on paper but he will be a none puncher. People will tune in too see if Khan is gun shy. He won't be. He'll be cautious and it will take a few fights for hin to get his full confidence back. If Khan is schooled right he will win a rematch down the line with Prescott. Just like Nigel Benn after Michael Watson he will mature and come back stronger.
Khan is a little nob head who has sucked up all the money in boxing, without taking a single risk until Breidis came along.
I hope he gets KO'd again and again and again.
Will anyone be buying Amir Khans new dvd that is due for release soon?I dont know if its a training dvd or a career moment dvd!!!
Im looking forward to the new Calzaghe's dvd which is due out near the same time as Khan's(November17th)
:-\ I'm not convinced Khan has a glass jaw anymore than Benn did. Early in his career Benn had one game plan which was to take out his opponent - he left his chin out to dry going it or ran out of steam. Khan against Prescott and agianst Gomez for that matter neglected his boxing and his defence and got caught. It makes little difference how good your chin is if your defence is a pile of crap and a decent puncher catches you right you're going in trouble.
The reference I made between Benn and Khan had nothing to do with their power - Benn's power was awesome and Khan is not in his class. The similarity I'm hoping will be there is that Khan will learn from his first loss and make the adjustments needed to comeback a better fighter - just like Nige did after losing to Watson.
Khan was floored by Willie Limond a great little fighter but one who has never been noted for his knock-out punching power. That along with Khan's latest trip to the canvas suggests his chin isn't the strongest. I would like to see Khan do well for the sake of British boxing......But that chin will always be his Achilles heel in my opinion.
Not convinced Khan has a glass jaw... he certainly has a big heart no matter what else he may be lacking. Apart from Prescott he has always fought back to win when hurt. Very few fighters can take a full on shot and not be hurt. Clever fighters learn to block or move to take the sting out of a punch. Khan's problems are that he has not progressed enough from the amateur style and is under so much pressure to get to a certain level straight away that he has neglected his defence to do it.
People wrote of Nigel Benn when he got KO'd by Watson saying he had a glass jaw but he learnt and improved. Khan does not have the blessing of the power that Nigel had instead he needs to build on what he is blessed with... his speed and boxing ability.
Write of Khan as a glass jawed fighter at your peril. If he applies himself and learns the pro trade properly there's no reason why he can't achieve a lot in this game.
He comes a perilous post :-
KHAN HAS A BONE CHINA JAW - HE WISHED IT WAS GLASS !
;)
Your entitled to your opinion 'Dark Lord' Al, to me Willie is a great little fighter....I have never boxed a round in my life though, so what do I know... Your probably a world champ or something and can voice your opinion in the knowledge you have been there and done that.
KHAN needs to box with chin protected at all times, its going to be like the treble 20 in darts, every one tries to hit it even if they got no class
